THIS IS OUT OF THE BLUE; I'm listening to Rush Limbaugh on KSFO this Thursday morning do his latest daily "Dems bad, GOP good, I love Trump, The FBI is tattered, 'There is no Russian collusion,'" that stuff he's been doing for years now.
Why am I listening to Rush? Because what alternative does one have on Bay Area talk radio these days?
I CANNOT listen to the 810 AM albatross station with the Sacramento hicks and their fake cackles ...Dennis Prager on 860 AM 'The Answer' is like listening to a rabbi doing a sermon. And a boring one at that, more like insufferable.
So there's Limbaugh who sounds ancient and repeats all the Obama conspiracies like they're the gospel but at least Rush is bearable. There's a sliver of interest because at least the man has a smidgen of relevance --or does he? The conventional wisdom is that Limbaugh appeals mostly to old, white, married men in their late 60's and 70 who play golf in Danville and have excessive hookers at their beck and call.
He must still have some juice even though his demo is not exactly GQ nirvana; in fact, I asked Michael Zwerling, the owner of KSCO (full disclosure: advertises on 415 Media) something to the effect: "You still carry 'Rush even though he's become sort of passe?" To which Zwerling said yes indeed, "Rush still has it and beyond that he drives the rest of the shows." Which is why, I guess, Rush still has significance even if you think he's nothing but a GOP operative who has command of the microphone on thousands of radio stations.
I'm still curious who listens to Rush. You're out there I know because among my comments I get people, no matter what the subject, are hellbent on their political views and find ways of infiltrating my comments section. I'm not here to denigrate the Rush amen corner I'm just really, actually, curious as to why you listen to him; for the show itself?; For entertainment, etc. Also, tell me what you do and what your lifestyle is like. I want to know. This is not some scientific survey so don't get smart alecky, just be intelligent and cohesive.
Rush is entertaining and informative. I listen to Rush from home by accessing KSCO thru your blog.
ReplyDeleteSo tell M.Z. his ad is working.
A refreshing take. One that isn't clouded or influenced by MSLSD or CBS late night weird ears talking points. Bravo.
DeleteRush should not be taken seriously, he said himself he's simply an "entertainer"...
ReplyDeleteHe plays off people's ignorance and insecurity. He tells the dominant culture- its not your fault, its THEIR fault. Its the whole play the middle class off of the poor..so that the wealthy can sneak in the back door all they want.
ReplyDeleteIts formula. Why right wing radio sells and liberal's doesn't. Liberal is complicated, not black and white. No easy answer.
Republicans make themselves out as the party of hard working- yet,its the liberals who work even harder- they take into consideration more then just "my own kind". For the good of all..like that. That take more consideration and effort.
The 6 largest economy in the world as run by Democratic rule is proof that liberalism works.
But,if you a fat ex saleman...Saying 250 years of progress is wrong and we need to get back to some fantasy time of his..well,the gullible and angry love that.
Yet you are the epitome of ignorance and insecurity.
Delete6th largest economy is proof liberalism works? You mean the state that is severely in debt with major major problems and huge amounts of unfunded liabilities? Think CALPERS. You are so brainwashed it isn't even funny.
Really? Your analysis is biased, one-sided, self-interested and simplistic stereotyping.
DeleteJust today, 55 THOUSAND people living on the streets of LA. Yes Stan, your beloved 6th largest liberal run economy is really the tops! The best! What will fix this problem? Oh, they need more taxes! Give them more money! Lemmings.
DeleteLets see the state pass substantial tax cuts.
DeleteYeah Right!
10:52---Say what?
DeleteStan is spot on. Talk about the lemmings who drink the cool aid : 11:27, 12:09, 3:32, 3:36, 4:17...and counting. Who are these clowns, oh wait..old, white, neander-con ignoramuses.
DeleteStan..please..you are not adding anything to this blog. Be part of the solution not part of the problem.
DeleteWe get it 4:39, you have no talking points to regurgitate when we point out that you are lemmings so you have to copy us. Mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery.
DeleteLimbaugh was spewing fake news long before The Cheeto in Chief launched the birther movement. He absolutely should not be taken seriously.
ReplyDeleteI'm also shocked that someone who follows this blog actually listens to KSCO out of that backwater known as Santa Cruz. Arrogant types who comment here don't even consider KNTV -- which transmits from San Bruno Mountain -- part of the SF market simply based on where their studios are located, so maybe this should be considered progress.
Oh look, an internet tough guy that talks big behind a keyboard. Your entire post is a contradiction. From ripping the Republican-in-chief to ripping "backwater Santa Cruz" that is full of pot smoking liberal dems and their backwards policies. You can't make this stuff up.
DeleteWhat???????
Delete10:59 Your analysis is biased, one-sided, self-interested and simplistic stereotyping.
DeleteI dumped local radio after the KGO purge. Its all SiriusXM now at some point I will probably just go streaming.
ReplyDeleteI listen to Rush, not daily, but a few times a month.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's still on the air. Rush is perhaps the most articulate, accurate and interesting Radio Host I've ever heard.
He says things most of us only think about and leave unexpressed.
It's not necessary that Rush see everything as I do, we agree on what is important.
I agree with you about Prager. It sounds as though he's speaking in a microphone while lying on his back on a water bed, and wearing blackout shades over his eyes.
Oh, and if you want a demo, I'm a 60 y/o Black Catholic man from Michigan. MAGA!!!
Personally, I do not know whose worse....Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh....they are both bad....because Trump can do NO wrong....
ReplyDeleteAt least, Rush has talent.
DeleteRich, that is like saying you stuck your dick in a meat grinder because there was no other place to stick it.
ReplyDeleteI listen to Rush because (A) I've been listening since high school (now over 40, white, broadcaster) and (B) it pisses off my mother, still, just like it does the two commentators above me who are regurgitating the same old left-wing arguments they accuse Rush of doing (on the right side) except they think they're original thoughts. People like me will keep Rush on the air and living inside the heads of angry liberals until one or the other drops dead.
ReplyDeleteIf those are the reasons why you listen to Rush, then it sounds like the pissed off mother and angry liberals are living inside your head.
DeleteBulletin: Lieberman, even though you hate to admit it you're a White too. Just look in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteRich has alot of Radnich in him whether he cares to admit it or not. Oakland born and bred, you connect the dots.
DeleteGood 'Ol Rushbo! Or, as he was known in his youth, "Rusty." Friend to the gang at "Fox and Friends."
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to the thrice divorced former drug addict, who committed "fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions." The great patriot who, due to a minor skin infection on his anus, skirted the draft. Not a good example of American Exceptionalism, IMO. The man does know how to talk, lie, cheat, avoid legal consequences and military obligations, and make lots of money via pushing propaganda. That shady combination is of no consequence to those who are eager to buy his bullshit, and he is more than eager to sell.
"The man does know how to talk, lie, cheat, avoid legal consequences and military obligations, and make lots of money via pushing propaganda. That shady combination is of no consequence to those who are eager to buy his bullshit, and he is more than eager to sell."
DeleteWhy are you bringing Obama into this? Stay on topic.
I was referring to Missouri Fats, 6:53. AKA Rushbo the Fatso. Was Obama drafted?
DeleteOf course, I could have been referring to President Apprentice. Those bone spurs kept him from demonstrating something other than lip service patriotism. That chicken shit chicken hawk foot malady, however, has never kept the Malingerer-In-Chief off the golf course. And Frump actually had the nerve to question McCain's courage, sacrifice, and patriotism!
So far we see the true identities of his listeners: Laughably ignorant and proud of it.
ReplyDeleteI guess I don’t fit you’re stereotype. I’m black, gay and 32. If I were to advertise that I like Rush I’d probably get fired. I like getting the other side of the story from him, and he’s on to the tricks the liberals play before anyone else. The other right-wing talkers take their cues from him. Savage is too extreme and sounds burnt out. Hannity is just a GOP talking points guy. Rush has wit, is original and sees the big picture. Radio creates an intimacy between the host and the listener. A friendship, if you will. Rush does that better than anyone else, IMO.
ReplyDeleteRich, as long as you aren't pandering to the typical angry white male right wingers who are singing Limbaugh's praises here, this blog will continue to offer value.
ReplyDeleteAs you stated, they'll jump on any topic and somehow shoehorn in their irrational perspectives and promote the agenda of hate and intolerance for anything and anyone who doesn't look like them and share their skewed and unsubstantiated (or falsely so) views.
None of these paranoid poisoners of public platforms dare to post as anything other than "anonymous." I have a profile here, but it's faster to post anonymously, so maybe that's why, but I doubt it.
Thank you Mr. Anonymous. You are so brave. A true keyboard warrior you are.
Deletealthough ,once saw Graffiti that said "'Flush Rush''.
ReplyDeleteRush is merely an entertainer. Has no core beliefs. If being liberal made him money he'd be to the left of Gandhi. Contrasted with Savage who was cast aside by the liberals he was in love with, and truly became a devotee to right wing fanatics out of a desire to crush the left.
ReplyDeleteRich, I'm glad for what you said about Dennis Prager. You confirmed my thoughts: he's boring.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:06pm, self loathe much?
ReplyDeleteAnin at 3:17pm..one of the best posts I’ve read on this site, ever.
You show your bias. If it was that short haired fella Rachel on MSLSD you'd be falling all over yourself to praise that little fella.
DeleteIt wasn't a "skin infection on his anus" that kept rush from serving his country during the Vietnam era, it was a pilonidal cyst on his ass, a mass of tissue and thick hair. The other uber patriot, Mr. Trump had a sore footsie( he can't remember which one. Meanwhile, Robert Mueller, A US Marine officer, led a rifle battalion in Vietnam, earning a bronze star and a purple heart.. Which of the three is a patriot?
ReplyDeleteLet's see....the one with the Purple Heart, or the two with the yellow bellies?
DeleteThe Question is "Why not listen to Rush to offset the media bias. I look at theDrudgeResport each morning. Drudge provides the topics of the media each day. I listen and read the right and left each day. I am not right or left but a capitalist. I do care for the environment along with people but do understand thing things coast money. I am also an engineer who just wants the fact.
ReplyDeleteI don't get Rush--first and last time I listened to him was when I was browsing in a bookstore the day Clinton beat Bush and they had his program on. How fn boring and predictable. "Oh Dittoheads" (Disclaimer--I'll listen to any good radio from KPFA Upfront to Michael Savage)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Rich is receiving answers from those who support self-admitted rapist enablers like Limbaugh, Hannity, Breitfart, Sinclair, and others who are more concerned about white-&-rich only agendas than they are about the moral decay of this country. There is nothing entertaining about belittling those suffering from natural disasters because they are asking for basic common necessities and they are different from them. There is nothing entertaining about trying to tear down the rule of law and the Constitution. There is nothing entertaining about dismissing clear immoral actions like porn-star love affairs, multiple bankruptcies, and endless abuses be it physically or verbally, especially via Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm disgusted with the reckless spending on the left side. I'm disgusted with the heartless hypocrisy from the religious part of the right side.
I'm disgusted with both sides about their disregard for women as human beings.
Yet as long as ignorant people like those who continue to support the Antifa on the left and Limbaugh, FOX, Sinclair, InfoWars etc on the right, nobody is going to make this country better than ever. Compromise is not a disease; it is a necessity if we are to listen to your needs and follow up with the appropriate actions. Stop this divisive stalemate, people, and go help someone close to you who needs it, and really can't fend for themselves. Rich's blogs are interesting. The partisan rants in response to his strong blogs are a complete bore. We can do a lot better.
One of the better comment board posts I've read in quite some time (though not particularly germane to Rich's request for comment). You've captured my thoughts exactly.
DeleteNow that Ronn is gone, I listen to Bill Handel now from LA. Quite entertaining although a bit on on the righty side.
ReplyDeleteIs it a coincidence that just a few weeks after Ronn is no longer on the air from 10-12 mornings, that you are listening to Rush? You find Prager boring and low energy, can't help agreeing with you, I do listen, since I cannot stomach Ethan Bearman for long, and Rush not at all. So even though Ronn was not what he used to be, and you were very critical of him, it seems to me you listened to him. I have for several years made the point that even if Ronn was not half of what he use to be, he was better than Rush (at least for you are interested in a bit of objective opinion, and certainly more interesting than Prager. Also miss Brian in the afternoon, I liked Dr. Drew's tv show, his radio show, not so much, seems like more of a host talking to his producer, rather and presenting a subject voice an opinion and then take calls. Brian was no Gene Burns, but I found him interesting for the most part, especially compared to what else was available.
ReplyDeletethe fake cackles belong to heather the penguin who seems to get overly emotional reading the traffic and mikki i actually think im a serious news person medoro the chipers enabler
ReplyDeleteWhen The Memo is released later today and all of Rush's analysis is confirmed...that the 0bama Administration weaponized the FBI against America and spied on the Trump campaign and others and then made up the whole Russia-Trump collusion illusion in an attempt to cover up their crimes after Hillary lost, will any of you lunatic liberals admit that Rush is right?
ReplyDeleteThey wont. "Fucking moronic idiots" comes to mind.
Deletere: bs memo...did you not know that the FISA court won't issue warrants based on one source, in this case a source first commissioned(brace yourself) in the Republican primary by Republicans to take down trump.
DeleteLOL! The corroborating source was an article that appeared in Yahoo News based upon leaked information from Steele, who was paid by Hillary Clinton to say that Trump had hookers pee on a bed in Russia. You can't make this stuff up any better! And only true idiots and true Trump haters ever believed such a wild and ridiculous tale. How stupid does one have to be to suck up such tripe? We may have to lock up the FISA judge along with Comey, Rosenstein, Yates, McCabe, Boente, Ohr, Strzok, Page...and then follow the money to Hillary, Lynch and.....0bama. #LockThemAllUp
DeleteDrudge Report is just as bad or maybe worse than Rush-tardo
ReplyDeletehttps://fitzinfo.wordpress.com/2015/10/07/matt-drudge-undoubtedly-a-zionist-agent/
Let's see, 2/1 at 11:27, 11:30, 11:34, today at 9:00 and 9:02. An internet troll in action.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly the type of toxic waste 9:17 PM is talking about.
i've listened to rush off and on for over 25 years. i maybe agree with him 10% of the time. but i do consider him and h.stern to be first ballot radio hall of famers. both guys command the mike with compelling, unique, and entertaining originality. with rush, i always felt the audience would have been better served if he had held both parties to the same standard of criticism but i guess one doesn't get rich being even handed. listening to points of view that differ from my own keeps me from getting complacent or intellectually lazy. but one time i would love to hear rush do a show where he refrains from even mentioning the left, or liberals, or dems, and just do a show extolling the virtue of conservatism as a stand alone ideology. no negative attacks. just the positive virtues of the conservative principals in and of themselves. i'm not sure he could pull it off. but to answer your question, i've listened to him because he's damn good at what he does. whether i agree with him or not doesn't matter to me. i just change the channel as needed.
ReplyDeleteI might listen to Rush Limbaugh more often, but he tends to shout into the microphone. He comes across too strong.
ReplyDeleteYou ReThugLieCons won't ever admit you're wrong?! Even when Trump, & his Corrupt Family are led away for the Crimes of Conspiracy, Obstruction of Justice, & Treason?! Can U Spell Indictments?!?! Keep living in your Conservative Bubbles, never venturing out, while the Majority of us have always known the "truth" about Lard Behind...Trump is a Corrupt Lying Liar Con Man.
