Just The Facts Please; NBC Bay Area 'Investigative Unit' Blustery; Consumer Reporter Fluff Chmura vs Powerhouse Finney '7 on Your Side' at KGO; Saturday Summary

We've carped repeatedly about the joke

called the KNTV (NBC Bay Area) "Investigative Unit" ; its over-costly excesses and fake bravado that basically amounts to a whole lot of blustery and nothing else.

So too on the Consumer Editor Front

Chris Chmura versus Michael Finney, from KGO: no contest.

Image result for chris chmura nbc bay areaFive years ago it sounded like a good idea. Double the staff. Double the budget. Produce some slick promos and kick Finney's "Seven on You Side" backside.

Didn't turn out that way.

The heavily promoted We Investigate concept at KNTV is a monumental flop.

Castoff KGO/Disney managers like current KNTV ND Stephanie Androuny were hired by NBC/Comcast to shepherd this loser. So what happened?

NBC wasted valuable resources on “promos” instead of news gathering infrastructure sorely needed during the North Bay Fires. It's primarily why KGO and KTVU had ratings victories.

Live Trucks:

KRON 30
KGO 27
KTVU 24
KPIX 20
KNTV 18

Numbers don't lie.

The Saturday Summary.

  1. NBC is too far away heading to Santa Rosa, KGO KPIX just go through Golden Gate and there comes the news. Almost forgot about KRON with their own reporters holding a camera and mic while interviewing. Can't really blame NBC when they focus on San Jose.

    1. I guess you don't watch NBC Bay Area, they cover everything but San Jose.

  2. I think Adrouny is going to be posting her resume on Indeed soon...

  3. Numbers don't lie. ... People do.

Managing is about understanding what are priorities and then matching it w/ the best set of resources who can complete them. ...

  4. American managers think you solve problems by throwing money at them. You don't, and once again this proves it, but no one pays attentions. "Managers" like Adroney are a joke.

  8. What do you consider a live truck? If you consider a 'live truck' to be a backpack containing the capability for one person to 'go live' via a mobile cell connection, then yes. If you are counting traditional 'live-trucks' there is no way these stations have that many, especially KRON. KRON has maybe 4 traditional live trucks, you know, the vans with a mast on the roof. The station does not even have a satellite truck anymore.

    1. Live truck or backpack ENG. Doesn't matter. Its simply the ability to go live. KRON wins that stupid game.

  9. Where are all these live trucks?

    KRON has 30?
    KNTV has 18?

    Are you kidding?
    Who dives all these trucks?
    Where do they park?

  10. Bullet train budget scandal, OPD cops with hookers, and Google invading Santa Clara. So what's on the proof of performance for the We Investigate website? We sent a crew to the Middle East for a two week junket about water. Thank god the Bay Area can rest easy. We Investigate on the job!

  11. Chris Chmura is milk toast. Not long for this market. Finney is laughing all the way to the bank.

  12. All the local investigative units are crap. I know a couple people that reached out to all of them for help and got nary a response. However, Stanley Roberts did 2 minutes on it and the problem was fixed. They should give all their cash to Stanley and let him run shit.
