Dan Ashley and Michael Finney Enjoy Prominence at KGO-TV; Thursday 415 Media First Take

Image result for Dan Ashley Michael Finney KGO-TV  Dan Ashley, KGO's (ABC7) veteran anchor, was making an early trip into 900 Front --the day had Ashley working a marathon schedule; he would anchor the 4PM, 5PM, 6PM, 9pm (on KOFY) and finally the 11 PM newscast --that's right, 5 shows in one day. This was not so unusual, in fact, Ashley has worked this schedule on a regular basis and handles every one without the slightest bit of annoyance --he loves the business and being busy is no negative; in addition, he's one of the highest paid anchors in the Bay Area. (Roughly $550K yearly) It's good for KGO because the Walnut Creek native has quietly become one of ABC7's "most influential" news readers with a rolodex full of some of the biggest shakers and makers; Ashley has both White House and State Capitol connections not to mention the ear of Mayor Ed Lee.

He also has the respect and admiration from a Circle7 staff both in front and behind the camera. A KGO source: "Dan is well-liked by most people here and in this business, that's really unheard of; he's a really hard worker and is dedicated to giving the very best broadcast he can. That means a lot." Especially to the folks at ABC and Disney (which owns KGO) In an era of instability and lots of turnover, Ashley is well past two decades at KGO and seems destined for a continued presence at Circle7's Embarcadero studios.

*Michael Finney is one of Ashley's close friends and considered by many to be half of the KGO "One-Two 'Powerhouse.'" Finney is the longtime Consumer Editor at Channel 7 with a personal staff of 10 people who work the phones and report any consumer issues by disgruntled viewers. It's a major part of KGO's newscast schedule and most popular too. Finney's daily appearances on almost all of KGO's platforms draw record numbers and has catapulted the Consumer Editor into an almost "Elvis-like" figure.

*Finney and Ashley --two giants at 900 Front--enjoy considerable clout in the city's ABC Network O and O on the Embarcadero.

Not only does Finney have a large staff but makes public appearances on behalf of KGO throughout the week. Finney also does a weekend radio show on KGO.

  1. KGO Radio website used to make it obvious and easy for the listener to comment or ask questions online. Now, the website has no portal whatsoever, as far as I can see.

I wanted to ask, beg, beseech Armstrong & Getty to never play that song "It's Raining Tacos!" ever again. The song sounds like
Alvin and the Chipmunks post estrogen and perfume, and it's enormously ANNOYING!!!" That song has me running to KSFO, (which I LOATHE most the time). Anyway, I digress. So there apparently, KGO does not want to hear from it's public. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Top O' the Morning to ya, Rich. Pip Pip!
    annoying.

    1. It's impossible to find the "live streaming" button.
And not that they care but...
The signal has gone to shit in the east and south part of the state at night.

The pre-cumuless KGO and KNBR signal blasted into Socal. It was always right up there with the KCBS signal.

KGO must have kooties in the connectors and insulators at the transmitter.

      What gender is a mitter?

  2. 7 on your side, I'm a huge fan. I'm all over that show like that liberal lion Harvey Weinstein on a young starlet.

Hypocrisy at its finest Obama, Clinton, Weinstein. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/us/harvey-weinstein-harassment-allegations.html

    1. "A longtime Democratic donor, he hosted a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton in his Manhattan home last year. He employed Malia Obama, the oldest daughter of former President Barack Obama, as an intern this year, and recently helped endow a faculty chair at Rutgers University in Gloria Steinem’s name."

Huge Hillary and Obama supporter then and now. One of the biggest names in Hollywood. This shit is BEYOND hilarious. Great scandal! CNN was asked if they'll sweep it under the rug and they chanted, "YES WE CAN!"

  3. What did Obama do, besides win the presidency legitimately?

As for Weinstein, I've always suspected. How do you think a mediocrity like Gwyneth Paltrow rose to fame so quickly? She made all her big pix with his studio. After he left Miramax her career tanked and now she's pedaling quack cures to dumb soccer mommies.

    1. I always thought she made it because of who her parents were, but you make a good point. From Wikipedia, Paltrow was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and film producer-director Bruce Paltrow.
