Dan Ashley
DAN ASHLEY...KGO's veteran and senior lead anchor at 900 Front has drawn "heavy interest" and offers from ABC (and non-ABC) stations in New York, Los Angeles and other top markets, according to a source familiar with the local broadcast scene.

The source spoke directly to 415 Media, exclusively.

Ashley, however, according to the same source, seems to be happy at KGO and has certainly established himself as the dominant presence on the air in Bay Area TV News.

If there's anyone on the roster that KGO absolutely, positively, MUST protect, it is Dan Ashley. He defines the essence of what great anchors possess: always good on the desk; better than average in the field and a trusted journalist.

Ashley is all of the above.

  1. He is getting older on television. At his age, most tv station want to get rid of them from their high salary, Dan is very famous getting other offers and the salary must me higher than KGO 7

You mean he's learned not to age when he's not on camera? What's his secret?!? I want to know.

    2. Fact of the matter is, not everyone in the United States is paying a million bucks for a house, damn near four bucks for a gallon of gas and anywhere between nine and thirteen percent state income tax. Of course he's looking around, not wanting to end up like others over fifty who get pushed to the side for no good reason other than this region's addiction to young, cheap and stupid. He can go to Dallas and never see that shit. He can go to Cleveland and be treated and managed by adults. Imagine that! Even Florida would be a step up, not in lifestyle but surely in terms of cost of living.

    1. Juvenilia, I have never seen that word before, is it some kind of sex organ?

    2. No,
It's a special word only a few very smart people use.
Mostly scientist and other snooty types.

    1. There's another angle here. Life is all about cycles. It is inevitable that something has to come along and break the back of the current bubble. I've said before that executive after executive type I've talked to recently says the Millenials in this area have lived through the building of an incredible economic bubble but have never seen a bust. It is inevitable and I think basically guaranteed if a certain heavily published professor of Economics at Stanford is selected as our new Federal Reserve chairman. Everything here is about debt - BIG debt, real estate debt, credit cards, living beyond one's means long term, etc. If that is no longer possible for the average Joe, what happens? Those who've been around awhile know what happens. My wife has a public sector job with a pension so I can't leave but I'll damn sure be looking over my shoulder if we're out and about in San Francisco or Oakland (or Berkeley) after dark going forward. There's a hell of a shit storm coming. I hate to see human suffering but given what's going on something has to break this. Economics is the dismal science and they say you have to get sick before you can get well. So, let's get on with it.

  7. Ha! Cheap shot though. That's not why he would do well in la la land. He's good.

  8. Bring a 60-year old Anchor Male or Female to a new market? Not so fast. Doesn't happen. More likely a KGO ND Tracey "Trixie" Watkowski budget broom showdown to scare the shit out of Dash. Hopefully he survives and she doesn't.
