While London Suffers Latest Terrorist Attack At Least Here Locally KGO Radio has Thurston and Rothmann on Live and isn't Talking About 'Your Favorite Ice Cream'; 415 Media Saturday Night Post

Image result for london terrorist attack Bridge June 3  As LONDON reacts to the latest terrorist attack Saturday night we're fortunate here in the Bay Area that KGO Radio is LIVE with Pat Thurston and John Rothmann (7-10 PM) --both monitoring the ongoing situation in the UK.

It's a pleasant alternative to the "What's your favorite ice cream" BS that would normally be running --taped too --of course.

Timing is everything.

By the way, yeah, I know there's BBC Radio and I've listened but a "live and local" broadcast is optimal --KGO used to be in that business before being kidnapped by the Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

  1. I love when Pat and John are on together. Some of the best radio you'll currently hear. But yet KGO won't give either one a weekday gig. Give Pat 7p to 10p and John 10p to 1am. Or vise-versa, as long as we get to hear more of them during the week.

    1. Amen! But J-Twit and Mikey are clueless hacks so we'll probably be stuck with (not that anybody is listening) Beeeerman and Bad Batch.

  2. I couldn't agree more, what's more every time Pat and John are on together, or alone, they get lots of calls, and many are of the same opinion. Seems to me John got the most callers calling for him to get a permanent slot, could be because at that time Pat was on 5 days a week. As I have commented here many times the decision to replay Ethan Bearman makes absolutely no sense at all. I can't believe it will increase revenue, since as far as I understand his ratings are not very good, and then to have his show replayed 5 times a week, in what was once considered prime time, makes even less sense. There is so much going on, listeners are hungry for intelligent informative shows. The commute in the Bay Area is brutal and long, it is not usually over by 7 p.m. and to be able to listen to John or Pat would certainly make it more pleasant.

  3. Thankfully KGO had two adults on the air Saturday night giving us good insightful commentary, instead of that little boy, also known as Ethan Bearman, talking about some birdbrain subject like dating.

  4. FOX news tried to say this is a "Only Muslim terrorist world" A DEM put him in his place bringing up the stabbings in Portland. FOX newsguy"But there is nothing in common with this" Dem then listed all the Sikhs shot,Oklahoma,Synagogues..and said "Racism is the similarity"

  5. The only sense it makes for almost Bankrupt Cumulus is tha they don't have to pay Bearman TWICE. Or Pat and Rothman ONCE.
This is a money thing, NOT a Talent thing. I predict this version of KGO is gone in 6 months or less, and CBS Entercom Deal will have an impact.

  6. I have to lol@all of the comments here while the big dick that runs this blog blocks anything anti-Rothmann or Thurston. The bias is as bad here as it is when you watch CNN or MSLSD.

  7. Just stop it already!

Rothman is BORING. Thurston is BORING. The M-F staff is horrendous!

The station sucks and what's worse is KNBR IS ALSO AWFUL.

WHAT THE HELL ARE WE EVEN DEBATING?

  8. Guess what?
No advertiser is interested in buying spots on a Rothman/Thurston show.

If the listener wanted intelligent(democratic) discussions then they would find someone sponsor it.

You can't "sell" Rothman or Thurston because the aye liberal spew...and everyone is sick of it.

    No sponsor...No Show.

    1. You're an idiot. Stop it.

If you get ratings you get advertisers. They don't. It has nothing to do with "liberal". You can only find right wing shows which have lost advertisers to politics, and not those on the left.

Think Jon Stewart had a problem getting advertisers?

      #idiot

    2. Who says they don't get ratings? I bet they were pulling in more than Ethan's reruns, and why put both on together Saturday night if they don't pull in decent numbers? KGO's overall ratings suck but were slightly ahead of KSFO's last month. KSFO had a solid election run but are slipping now. Liberal radio right now is their time to thrive, to call this prez and WH on their BS. MSNBC is doing record ratings all day long.

  9. We must live in an alternative Bay Area radio world because nearly every AM station at night is right wing. If it's not commentators trying to cover Trump's broad ass it's religious nuts. I can't even find a moderate to listen to so am very happy when Rothman is on. Thurston sort of bugs me.

  10. Pat can be a little annoying, although as a whole I like her, she doesn't always deal in reality, like keeping hoping Trump will be impeached or Bernie being elected, not that I'm necessarily against either, although not a Bernie fan. Rothmann always pulls her back to reality, anyway compared to the rest of the host, except for Ronn and Brian they are the best. If you think they are boring, you are probably not very smart, or you might be, but either don't like politics or only want a right wing point of view, which is readily available on several other stations.

    1. Bernie Sanders won't be elected. See Constitution. There's a piece today about his late financial Senate disclosures. The bolshevik boy wonder, it seems, is part of the 1%.However, there is a good chance that articles of impeachment will be drafted. I predict Trump won't be impeached or convicted. He'll resign, just like Nixon. If he were to be criminally prosecuted for his treasonous acts, the super sanctimonious Mr. "I know nothing" Pence will pardon him. I think decapitation is far too kind. I prefer due process, no pardons, and a life term at Supermax. Ivankah can design the minimalist, pastel, faux luxe jumpsuit out of polyester and made in China for daddy and hubby. As for her role, being so greatly smart and everything, she should face the legal process as well. They don't allow bleach, plastic surgery, botox, or fake tans and hair spray in a federal correctional institute, do they? Now that's punishment. There are no gold toilets, either.

  11. Your comments make no sense what so ever. The election is over I know that Sanders won't get elected, not that I wanted him to in the first place. Although fairly liberal, I thought he was too much to the left. I'm not a Trump fan, don't care for most of his policies, and especially don't care for his personality, no class, his tweets for the most part are embarrassing, the rest of the world is laughing at us (I read Danish fluently, some Swedish and Norwegian), but so far there is no case for impeachment, and Ivanka as far as I can tell has not done anything illegal, frankly I like her better than here Dad, and her brothers.

    1. "what so ever"(sic)...seriously? I am not a Sanders fan, in the least. Ivanka Trump's hubby met with russkie bankers and spies numerous times. Last summer, for example, the charming young couple, suddenly in the midst of the campaign, decided to go "sightseeing" in Croatia. They were accompanied by Wendi Deng and Dymitry Robolavlev. Miss Deng, the former wife of Rupert Murdoch, who settled her divorce case for a cool billion is Ivanka's plastic bosom buddy and a current PUtin squeeze.Mr. Robolavlev, an oligarch billionaire with ties to PUtin and Trump jetted in for the souvenir hunt. Ivanka who is supposedly reallllllly smart and everything and Jared, her hubby lugged around ponderous "messenger bags". Do you think the investigation includes what might have been transferred thusly?Think cash and documents. Trump, famously hates such transfers, unless they are done directly and in person by people he trusts( a very small universe). The investigation into the trump/russkie treasonous alliance includes the Croatia trip. Perhaps if you listen to John Rothmann, if and when he is on the radio, he can give you a primer on the historical background on obstruction of justice and impeachment, or you could read it in Danish.

    2. You should maybe read some English because they're moving toward impeachment

    3. I do listen to John Rothmann he has pointed out on several of his shows, that so far there is no impeachable offense, and since the Senate is controlled by Republicans, they won't vote on it. I'm not a Trump fan, I had hoped for the best, however since I lean more left than right on most issues, I had not expected that I would agree with Trump on most of his policies, I had hoped he would act Presidential and with some class, that has not been the case. As for the European news, they are horrified of the way Trump is acting, but they do not mention impeachments, at least not the ones I'm reading which is pretty mainstream, mainstream but reliable.

    4. I think you are conflating criminal charges with political processes which include impeachment(see Clinton impeachment). You have to consider, as John has made clear, that articles of impeachment can be presented, but will go nowhere, if you don't have the votes. Who controls congress? Europeans have no say in whether or not impeachment occurs or is considered, but there has been much comment on the subject. I guess you don't read Der Spiegel. In the Nixon case, which seems a minor kerfluffle compared to this, Republicans led the charge, to their historical credit. We need a hero, and fast.

  12. Thurston and Rothman need to go on the radio station that wacks out of Berkeley. 100% yellow journalism

    2. Fake news, I listen to about 10-15 minutes of Hannity last night. He repeated what Trump tweeted as to what the Mayor of London said about not being alarmed. This, as has been pointed out on several news sights, was taking out of context. Hannity had no qualms about repeating it, and his listeners I'm sure swallowed hook, line and sinker. Ted Koppel was right he is dangerous and/or bad for American. Not so much of what he says and how he says it, but mostly because his followers do not have the curiosity to check out all his assertions and statements, that is dangerous and scary.
