Heather Ishimaru's Case Against KGO-TV/Watkowski Scheduled For September; Lunchtime Buzz

Soon, I will go over in great detail why the management team at KGO-TV and Disney (which owns KGO) might be shitting bricks over former, veteran reporter,  Heather Ishimaru's upcoming trial scheduled for September. I read her complaint and if I were Tracey Watkowski and/or KGO/Disney I'd be very afraid --Seems like Ishimaru has a clear-cut case of, among other things;  hostile work environment, punitive damages, loss of income, major debilitating medical issue brought on my....You Name It.

Ishimaru is suing KGO; she suffered a stroke and brain hemorrhage in December, 2013 after years of battling managers at 900 Front over her task of caring for a special needs son. They made it tough for her, to put it mildly --I'm not a lawyer, I just read the legal documents and if Disney doesn't settle this they'd be crazy. Just an educated guess. Again, Mistress of Agony and Distress, News Director, Countess Watkowski is at the heart of the complaint and the center of Ishimaru's years-long agony.

We'll talk about this soon enough.

  3. Disney has faced bigger than this--and yawned. First of all they have half the judges in America in their pocket. There's no such thing as a clear cut case of anything. And you may have read every word of this (though I doubt it) but the judge won't. Judges rarely read most of the opinions they get, and rule based on their allegiances with both parties. And most judges who are high up are ridiculously conservative and in bed with big businesses. That's how they get high on the pole.

Take it from someone who was in this business before getting sick to the stomach and quitting for this very reason. Disney will probably settle, though, for a very small amount, just to get it out of their hair. It won't be "justice" though, and Trixie's career will not be harmed. If anything, she's probably on the fast track to the C suite.

    1. Its tough to beat the Mouse in Court. True. But either Billy Boy or Tracey will have to fall on King Arthur's sword. Middle managers at Disney usually don't survive this kind of dust-up. Also, Tracey is a documented A-hole hated by most staff which will surface.

  4. With the Trump SC,Disney might not settle. Its a stretch, but they might go with the pro corporate airs Trump has created in the legal wars.

    1. So now Stan is a legal expert too? He's an idiot who knows absolutely nothing about anything, except Garry Radnich.

  5. Nextstar sold KRON's spectrum. KRON is going to lose the 4 and move to high VHF. But that wasn't the only domino to fall today. KOFY got its spectrum sold off and it's going to be shut down.

This would mean KGO is losing it's 9pm broadcast...the one Rich likes so much. KGO also loses its 6pm rebroadcast at 7 on KOFY.

This leaves KPIX and KTVU the only channels who have a news broadcast that air on another channel.

    1. Someone who clearly does NOT understand how this auction worked. KRON will stay on channel 4. Changing frequencies means more money for the owner, Nexstar. It is a straight money grab. Changing frequencies is only a headache for the engineer types who have to deal with it. Think of it as moving a house but you get to keep the same address. Welcome to the digital world, rookie.

    2. So...that means what? No KOFY but a wider band for who? And with cable, does that stuff make any difference? I mean you can have one watt and Cable makes it reach the same as biggest antennae in town.
Same for KRON. What change is that on Raddy?..getting to the point.

  6. Rich - the complaint *always* reads in favor of the plaintiff. That's the whole point, but it's far from the whole story.

  7. KOFY TV is NOT being shut down. Spectrum is sold but not the license...will find a new spectrum home.

  8. Bring your clothespins to that trial in September. There's gonna be a whole lotta dirty laundry being hung up to dry!

  9. Win or lose, this is hardly a blip on Disney's radar screen.

  10. Thanks for the update Rich, I think about Heather time and time again. I really enjoyed watching her reports. My mother and I ran into her when we got tickets to see Spencer and Janelle's afternoon program, Heather was very nice and made small talk. Is Angela Alioto still representing her? I agree with the other comments ABC will give her the bare bone sum, but Alioto is tough hopefully justice will be served for Heather and her family.
