Golly Gee, I worked at KPIX in the seventies when Bruno Cohen was first there. I'm a geezer , so I'm guessing he is also. I don't think Fresno is his style, actually. If you live long enough, retirement is not unusual.
Sorry to hear this. Had the great good fortune of working with Bruno in the 90's at KPIX and have nothing but good memories (Pre-CBS ownership, of course) of that time. A good, decent guy. If you want to blame someone for any KPIX problems/issues, you will need to look no further then the Corporate low-life that currently runs CBS. All the best Mr. C.!
Looking forward to more news about this Rich. Good luck find this PIX shocker in the newspapers, especially with the biggest Silver & Black Gamble overshadowing the headlines. Pun very intended. Shall we had a YouTube clip of Blood Sweat & Tears' Go Down Gamblin'?
ROTFLMFAO! I can hardly believe that now in September 2018, I just stumbled on this blog to discover that Bruno Cohen finally got the boot at KPIX! I was a news tape video editor who worked under Bruno when he was Executive Producer of "Channel 5 Eyewitness News" at KPIX in the late 1970s-mid 1980s. But before I give Bruno my "HIGH 5 Middle Finger," let's give credit where credit is due. Bruno Cohen along with his widely-despised boss, KPIX News Director Bill Applegate took a piss-poor #2 rated "Eyewitness News" in latter 1979 and by latter 1982, won the #1 ratings spot stealing it away from perennially #1 rated KGO-TV. I was proud to be part of that juggernaut cutting-edge news machine that won that Super Bowl of San Francisco TV News Wars! Fast-forwarding to the 1990s where I was working at KNBC-TV L.A. and Bruno was then News Director at WNBC-TV NYC. In a focused attempt to gain employment in Bruno's New York newsroom, I repeatedly emailed my resume followed by numerous follow-up phone calls to Bruno where his secretary always blocked me from gaining access to him. One mid-1990s day in L.A. Bruno visited the KNBC-TV newsroom and we ran into each other. When I asked Bruno why he never responded to anything I mailed him or my numerous phone calls, why he patently stonewalled my attempts to persuade him to hire me at WNBC-TV, he cordially answered, "Well Dan, it wasn't due to lack of desire." Momentarily taken aback at his heartless yet witty words, I practically fell to the floor in laughter! I'll always have to laugh my ass off about my final encounter with Cohen, and while I'll always "love" you Bruno...yeah, I have to agree with "Jasper in Rohnert Park" who posted above, "Fuck You, Bruno" Again, Bruno, ROTFLMFAO!
Why the mean spirited snark Rich? You have to be an asshole every time someone gets promoted, demoted, fired or retired?
ReplyDeleteFuck You, Bruno.
ReplyDeleteas we have seen time and again, and again, and again, that is who Rich is!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather it was Rosenheim. The guy who thinks he knows everything and in reality knows nothing

ReplyDeleteRich can be mean at times but this Bruno Ass Hole deserves it.
ReplyDeleteIf he leaves, Roqui Theus is leaving!!
ReplyDeleteYou can't even hang this one on Mark Davis. KPIX really does look pretty sorry these days. I hope the next guy makes better use of Juliette Goodrich.
