KRON Big Name Talent Pay Slashed Come New Year; Radnich/Moore Ponder Pending Cuts

Image result for KRON-TV Channel 4 SF THOSE OF YOU that watch KRON for its news, be sure to get a good look the next couple of weeks. More than likely what you'll be seeing the beginning of the new year, will be a radically different KRON 4, 415 Media has learned.

A source close to the independent tells me KRON's corporate owner has already given indication of "massive" cuts in payroll, particularly those who are making more than six figures.

The source says Media General --which owns the station (with a sale to Nextstar pending) has informed staff that cuts are coming.

Furthermore, the people at the station who make the big bucks; like Gary Radnich and Pam Moore will see their salaries slashed --by as much as 50% --Radnich makes around $200K --(do the math); Moore is up near that compensation too. Anyone who makes the big dough will be affected --some may split, others might be forced to stick it out for less pay simply because they have few options and may just bite the bullet. They have no choice.

We'll follow up on this and keep you up to date.

  2. The station would save money if they just fire Gary. Simple.

  3. How many phone calls to KTVU has Raddy made for a weekend gig? Radnich wont leave KRON. Nobody else pays a hundred grand to a over 65 with no real skills.
He and Pamela have probably re upped. That was all that talk Radnich let slip about he and she signing legal papers at KRON. Also for no real good reason Radnich went out of his way to praise KRON "They treated me well"..so he's not leaving.

  4. $200k is all Gary and Pam are making? Seems a little low for market six. I get it is KRON, but still....

  6. Don't they have contracts? Unless they are expiring at the first of the year.

The others that have stayed after the NBC exit, are they tarnished for being part of KRON. Their hopes for working at another station/market be tougher, so they're stuck at KRON?

  7. Both Darya and Radnich have proclaimed Tom Brady as better then Montana.
    Slash!
btw,I proclaim Radnich stole his whole career from Eddie Alexander. If you notice,Radnich has mentioned all the old Sportscasters of the bay area on his show over the years..never Eddie.
It was so blatant, even as a young'in I thought back then "He's doing a white Eddie". On the bible I swear.

    1. Stan,
BTW, I proclaim that Radnich did NOT steal his whole career from Eddie Alexander. They were separated from each other by 15 years! Come on Stan, try to be a little fair even if you hate the guy.

  8. If I was a manager at channel 7 or 11 I would be sending out feelers right now to just about everyone in the KRON newsroom. You could probably hire someone really easily and not have to blow a ton of money doing it. Picking off people who are behind the scenes would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Besides, this could hasten their demise if you steal all the grunts. Mean spirited? Yes. But from a competitive standpoint, that's one less headache everyday.

Why not 2 and 5? FOX has a reputation as one of the most frugal station owners around. CBS is also notoriously bottomline driven as well. (they like freelance help because that saves them money on benefits and salary)
