It was quite a sight to see the dynamically beautiful and ultra-smart, Alayna Gomez grace the KTVU Weekend Anchor chair on Saturday Night.
Gomez comes to Channel 2 from the NBC Connecticut station.
Off the cuff, she looks and sounds like another young newbie but Gomez has a cool, calm, collective delivery and adds a much-needed sense of humor to her repertoire.
Here's hoping she makes a lasting impression on Fox2 and has even more play on KTVU's other news platforms.
Unless you're a person of color, you need not apply.
ReplyDeleteYep. They are sent to conventions with instructions and quotas to meet. I've been to some of them.
DeleteRight, because you never see white people in tv news. Moron.
DeleteShe's a cutie but coming here from the Delmarva area? That's a huge cultural shock not to mention a financial shock. My guess would be she stays a few years and returns to the east.
DeleteGo back east - Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, etc. Cincinnati is a great town even if some people there can be very insular and old fashioned. It's great if you fit.
DeleteNews operations in that part of the country still hire the whites because their viewers demand it. Buy a coat and spend serious money on some good insulated boots.
Just as I, a person of color, need not apply to any position at FOX network news.
DeleteTo the idiots that commented that news stations don't hire white people, you're completely wrong. KTVU hired white people before Alyana Gomez. Those hires were Frank Mallicoat and Ted Rowlands. Not only are they white, they are working the anchor position. So don't give me that shit that news stations don't hire white people bullshit. I swear, people like 10:31 and 1:26 need to get their head out of their ass.
DeleteThe standards for non-people of color are much higher.
DeleteGo to Cleveland or Columbus and you won't even have to listen to it. The academics, inherited money crowd and PC snots don't run that state and they never will! Yes, it's cold in the winter time but right now it's at least as nice as it is here if not nicer.
DeleteOh God. Here we go again with rootvg saying "Ohio this, Ohio that!" For once can you go without mentioning that God forsaken state. Or is that the only place you've been to in the entire universe. SMH...
DeleteThat God forsaken state will determine the Presidential election, has since 1964. Win two out of three among Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida and that's it. Don't waste our time with scenarios. We have over fifty years of history telling us that's what's gonna happen. Could she pull an inside straight and flip North Carolina or Virginia? Sure...but she won't. I've been to all of those states and I know them very well. Won't happen.
DeleteNo you idiot. The electoral college determines the president. Not one garbage dump of a state Ohio. Ohio is full of low lifes who can't get themselves out of a hole. Straight Rust Belt. Ohio is irrelevant these days.
DeleteAnd when Ohio once again calls the victor has it has for the last half century, what will you say? Will you be around to answer for it?
DeleteThe race will be called after the polls close in Chicago. They always are. You won't be told by the networks because they have agreements to not depress turnout but trust me...if Ohio and Florida are carried by the Republicans without flipping anything in the south, that'll be all she wrote. There's been talk about North Carolina being close but if Romney narrowly carried it in 2012 why on earth would Hillary carry it in 2016? She wouldn't.
I majored in this stuff, okay? Don't you think I know what the hell I'm talking about?
Uh yeah...a lot of people that majored in their so called field, still don't know what the hell they are talking about. The journalism majors are a good example of people who don't know what the hell they are saying. Majoring and school doesn't mean shit these days rootvg.
DeleteHaven't we discussed this? We worked on a few national campaigns. We know Meg, Carly, etc. Damn...Do some light research will ya? Why do you think Bill is spending so much time in NC? They know Ohio and Florida are gone and are trying to save the race by flipping one or two southern states that have turned pinkish in spots over the last few years. Jesus! Use your head.
DeleteThe girl who served me popcorn at the movie theater yesterday was older...
ReplyDeleteThey like 'em young and cheap. I told someone here that WeatherNation's new blonde weather cutie lists her graduation date as 2016. That's just how things are. No one wants to pay for quality. Everyone is disposable.
DeleteWwlcome Ms. Gomez...
ReplyDeleteGive it a few weeks, before we begin to trash you.
Otherwise enjoy another tourist free, and sunny October.
Best time of year in the BA.
Right - andKGO gives us the wooden Chris Nguyen doing the news - the shows the gamut of emotions from A to B, as somebody famous once said. Where is Katie Marzullo when you really need her?
ReplyDeleteShe was bloody awful last weekend. Maybe it was the production that tripped her up. I had tuned in hoping to find Ken Wayne but he seems to be invisible now. Anyway I turned the station it was so bad.
ReplyDeleteShe descended from Sister Sledge? "We are family"..like seeing them 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI watched her on the 6pm Ktvu+ News. She had a rough as they switched to another camera on the set and it looked like it surprised her. She recovered okay, I tuned out, I didn't enjoy pairing her with Palombo.
ReplyDeleteMuch better than KPIX's attempt to add some color with Roqui. How is she still so bad? Viewer engagement with her is a big fat zero I bet
ReplyDeleteShe looks good. KTVU will soon be known as the FOX House.
ReplyDeleteKTVU is still a hen house...Foxes are down south and east.
Delete9;34 AM You must agree that Claudine Wong and Alayna Gomez is a good start for a FOX House at KTVU.
DeleteAny person of color that makes it to on air news I am sure is more than qualified as their white counterparts.
DeleteRaqui Theus on KPIX is now the new normal.
ReplyDeleteThey got a "THREE-FOR" A BLACK, WOMAN of HISPANIC descent. I ain't mad. That's like a 70 point word score in Words With Friends LOL... and yep-- what's the over/under on the number of weeks before she's skewered here.
ReplyDeletePalombo is awful and I change stations the minute he is on air. The fact that he is Fox 2's "political" reported is a joke. Randy Shandoval spins donuts around Ross.
ReplyDeleteWhat ethnicity is she? She has a Spanish last name, but she looks African American. She should be the evening anchor on KTVU PLUS and weekends. KTVU need stable reporters.
ReplyDeleteLooks Hispanic to me...and damn hot to boot...maybe you need to get out more...
Delete@1933 Hispanic/Latinas CAN be of ANY race... Ever see Cubans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Veracruzanos... or heck any sub-set of Latin Americans along the slave routes ? I posted earlier she was a "Three For" BUT she COULD be married... but there is nothing about her looks that would say she's not Latina.
DeleteI think it's nice that Affirmative Action has made it to the media here.
ReplyDeleteThen there's Alex Wilson at Weather Channel, who's bright, cheery and hot as a pistol. I could stare at those legs until I died.
DeleteSo today I watched KGO 7 in the Am and they kept mismatching the video to the story, so out of frustration turned it to KTVU and there was Gasia subbing for Pam Cook- seems like pam dose not work on Tuesdays anymore. Anyway watched Sal and Steve and was done.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing Alyana!
ReplyDeleteAlayna filled in quiet a lot recently for Heather Holmes. Much more pleasant demeanor and smoother than the Diva in Animal Prints. Here's to more of Alyana!
