The Best Story-Teller In The World Is On Bay Area Radio; Syndicated/KSFO Talker Michael Savage Excites The Senses; Chats Up Indian Buffet Amidst Terrorism, US Decline And Immigration Debate

Michael Savage had had enough of talking about politics and the election. The news was bad enough; another awful terrorist attack; the nation seems to be in further decline; oh, and the homeless issue in the city.

Depressed yet?

So Savage did the most sensible thing: he began to pontificate about his unfortunate Indian Buffet versus current-nation metaphor.

It evolved, somewhat, out of all the bad news and allowed the popular, bombastic, entertaining syndicated radio host to describe his culinary tour-de-force and its unintended consequences. I'll allow you the opportunity to think what that entailed.

It's what Savage does best. He's a great story-teller. The best. You can deride his politics and how he frames arguments. You can chide his combative style and make issue with his often cantankerous dialogue. I believe you have to look big picture here. THIS JUST IN: Savage is an entertainer. A bold one at that; he berates (with a twinkle in his eye) he compels; he's also quite, despite outside perception, maybe misperception, the ultimate, sensitive man.

Larry King found that out.

Me too. Seriously, who writes a Ten Thousand Word book about a poodle? Savage does.

Who can coin a phrase "Borders, Language and Culture" and make it a universal talking point? Even if you disagree with Savage on the current Immigration Debate, you LISTEN because you know at the very least, the monologue will have teeth and substance. The only thing that is predictable on a Savage show is its unpredictability.

Let's face it, the majority of talk-radio is pure dreck. Daily, an otherwise thought-provoking man screams "constitution" into your ear and sounds like a raving lunatic. It is not becoming; it surely isn't entertaining; quite boring, actually.

And then there's this guy. Pass the NoDoz.

I'm going to be accused (again) of being a Savage suck-up. Convict me now. Yes, I'm a fierce advocate of the Savage Nation; really, more an ardent admirer of someone who gets it and knows how to hit it out of the park on a daily basis, for the most part. I like that.

I can bitch and quarrel about Mr. Savage's politics but in fact, politics, in this case, is really irrelevant --I'm still stuck on the Indian Buffet discussion.

  2. Michael Savage is number 1 because there are no number's 2 , 3 , 4 or 5 after him that actually exist as worthy competition .
Only sincere Laura Ingraham ( unnumbered ) is in the same , dignified tent as Doctor Savage in regards to sincerity !
Doctor Savage is smarter , wiser , has more integrity then fraudulent , improperly elected Pope Francis !
I would rather see Michael Savage sitting in the seat of Peter( for house cleaning purposes )then pope Francis because Mr.Savage has the ''courage'' to reveal raw TRUTH to an earth's diabolically confused flock of sheep. ( unlike pope Francis )....
The ''GLOWING'' , endlessly Holy and hopeful Ark of the 'new' covenant '' EXISTS '' somewhere on earth and wise , dear Doctor Savage '' even '' has the potential , prophetic ability to discover , locate and show the GLOWING ARK to the world ...God willing.... Mr.Savage will find it and save america !
Michael Savage is number 1.... with or without a radio hall of fame award !
    He has a 7th , 8th and 9th rare , human
'' SENSE '', ability to assess lie's from Truth ...Therefore he's number 1 ....Because America is hungry for Truth !

  3. I wish The Savage Nation was still on in Los Angeles. Thank God for the internet.
I listen to the show every night on my iPhone. Michael Savage is a national treasure.

  4. Listening to Dr. Savage is entertaining, intensely informative as well as educative on many issues we have never heard off. He is close to a free thinker one can get. For instance, Savage is ideological Godfather of Trump. What Mr. Trump stands for is no different from what Dr. Savage talked for more than a decade. Free thinkers are basically truth seekers and easily get branded as eccentric or arrogant. GOP big shots shunned Savage and lost out. Mr. Trump always appeared in his shows and commonality in their thinking bonded them. Trump is the real beneficiary as besides his ideological refinement, he got the support of most of Savage Nation listeners. The mainstream media is not admitting this important connection because its politically correct approach disconnects it from mainstream thinking.

  5. I am an American who lives in Australia and I love listening to Savage on my computer. The best use I have for the internet! Michael Savage inspires me to speak out against suppressive progressive fact-denying psychos whereever I may be.

  6. What I like is how awe struck (as most of us are) Dr. Savage is at the current administration's inability to call our enemy by its name for fear of "offending"??? After every act of islamic terrorism both here and abroad we are being told "it has nothing to do with islam"??? Followed by an official scolding of possible backlash....that to the best of my knowledge just has never happened. The shooter in orlando ,in his own words claimed his affialitation to and with ISIS........thats the islamic state folks. San Bernardino mass murder the very same thing, the fort hood mass murder, again, the very same thing and on and on it goes. If the comander and chief refuses to call the enemy by its name how then can we defeat it??? Ye called the Nazis...nazis without "fear" of offending the people of germany. FDR spoke of going to war with Japan after the attack on pearl harbor??? Sense when did we become a nation that during a time of war grew to timid to name those with whom we are fighting against out if "fear" of offending" ? Savage does not attempt to rescript reality, he calls it like it is!!!

  7. Bold, brash, buoyant, bubbly, blistering, bolshy, belligerent, brilliant, benevolent and bighearted would be only SOME of the labels I would attribute to Michael Savage. He is far and away the brightest talent on the airwaves and has the ability to pick us up and bring us down. He is a brave heart and speaks truth loudly and clearly, bedeviling the crooked establishment and continually calling them out for their dishonest ways. Michael Savage, whilst being brutally honest, is at the core, a gentleman. He cares so much. He tries with all his might to wake us up. A day without Savage is bereft indeed. BRAVO, Michael Savage, you are, indeed, a Brave Heart.

    1. I would hardly call Savage big hearted, certainly if you are a liberal he has no use for you, nor is he bubbly, bubbly to me describes someone cheerful, prone to laugher and/or giggles, it can be endearing or annoying, depending on the situation, however I don't find Savage to be neither. The rest of the comments I can go along with, but I don't think he speaks the truth, he speaks the truth as he sees it, which is what most talk show host does, nothing wrong with that. However, don't take his word as gospel, or for that matter the word of any other talk show host, listen to both sides and learn to think for yourself.

    2. Wow, Anonymous... you make quite a few assumptions here. I stand by my descriptors as that's how I experience Michael Savage! Maybe you need to boost your fun factor? Please don't assume that I don't think for myself... you don't even know me. I think you are missing many subtleties and nuances that Michael communicates, but perhaps that's because your are set in your thinking and not open to those possibilities.

    3. Savage is extremely big hearted. He donates a lot of his time and money for such causes as veterans, animals, college scholarships, and probably many others that we don't even know about.

    4. Sue-Lynn I don't make assumptions, I don't see how anyone can describe Savage as bubbly, at least not in the way I understand the word, and frankly I don't always think bubbly is a positive trait, I hate bubbly at 7 a.m. no matter who is bubbly. If you experience Savage that way fine, however I don't. Yes, he does far as I understand donate to causes, but to me big hearted at least the way my parents taught me, is much more encompassing, giving with question, giving when you don't have much (which my parents did and they did not have much), just because Savage gives a lot of perhaps both money and time, does not mean that he is not mean spirited towards those who don't agree with him. Frankly the fun factor has nothing to do with my opinion of Savage, I'm your original good time girl partying through most of the sixties, some seventies and on and on, I find Savage too negative on too many things, subsequently I don't listen a lot. However, even when I like a host and other's, it does not mean I think they are perfect, and for all my complaints about Savage, I will agree he can be entertaining, I lived in New York so I like those stories, others too. No need to be defensive, you like him a lot, I don't, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla, a saying used by the all time greatest talk show host, who sadly is no longer with us, Gene Burns, of the ones great KGO.

  10. Hello again, Anonymous. As you say, we are all human. Michael Savage carries a HUGE weight of responsibility upon his shoulders. We are living in dangerous times and he is virtually a solitary voice in this wilderness as he tries to warn us not to take our freedoms, which were once so hard won, so lightly. Perhaps it is because you don't listen regularly that you miss the lighter side of Michael. When he is free-thinking and not bogged down by the politics and terrorism of this day and age, which is fraught with danger, that you will see the lighter side of him. He has a remarkable sense of humor and an incredible lightness of being when he is not doing his job of looking out for us. I consider his voice to be the call alerting US to the imminent dangers which are hiding in clear sight (a vivid reincarnation of THE Paul Revere perhaps)? Of course, it would be great if we could simply enjoy the raconteur, but at this time, we have to understand the sacrifices Michael makes continually. He has a tough job and does it so expertly well. He has a breadth and depth of knowledge that is quite awesome and I always feel educated after he offers us some of that insight. I am also pretty pleased with myself when he alludes to a book or poem or music or art that I am familiar with... plus the pleasure I get out of learning new words and concepts that I had not known before I heard them from Michael. He is the greatest history and political science teacher that I have ever heard. If I had a do over, I would study those subjects because Michael has instilled a huge interest in those areas for me. I could go on and on, but I think you see my point. :) Oh, and he has a magical voice!

  11. p.s. I am not familiar with Gene Burns... my education in America only began in this millennium. I am profoundly grateful that I "found" The Savage Nation a few years back. I wish it had been when I was younger. I, too, am an immigrant.

  12. Gene Burns was a talk show host on KGO, I listened to him from the late nineties until he along with most other hosts on KGO was fired Dec. 2011. He was an intellectual heavy weight (not that Michael is a lightweight) he would often tackle the same subject as Michael, but in a more balanced and nuanced way, he was for the most part conservative, although liberal on social issues, he could match Michael in knowledge and depth of subject. I have listened to Michael enough to know what I like and don't like, I prefer to listen to Tom Sullivan on 1530 a.m. in that same time slot. Tom like Michael is a conservative (I'm a middle of the road liberal)but, unlike Michael as a liberal I can listen to Tom Sullivan and not feel insulted. I don't necessarily feel any talk show host carries a huge responsibility, although I do think, liberal or conservative, they need to be honest. It is up to us listeners to do our own critical thinking. Although Gene Burns along with John Rothmann (who can still be heard as a fill in host and commentator on KGO)was/is my favorite hosts I did not agree with everything the say. When someone say they agree 100% with someone, it scares me a little, suggest lack of critical thinking, or lack or curiosity.

P.S. I too am an immigrant, but have been here since the late sixties.

  13. Thanks for all the information, Anonymous. Of course we make our own decisions about other people's opinions and I do agree that Michael can get quite Savage with callers who irritate him. Nevertheless, I appreciate his deep thinking and analysis - he is a gifted. Now I am curious about your origin... let's stick to the continent...

  14. I was born and grew up in Denmark, in the post world war II area, my parents lived through the German occupation (even hid the fugitive from Gestapo for 6 months) and told me many stories about the occupation, I understand freedom, but I think Americans sometime over react to small things they perceive as lack of freedom. I came to the US (Connecticut) as an au pair in my early twenties (late sixties).

  15. Fascinating background, Anonymous. You are an extremely informed person. Thank you, I have enjoyed the exchange.

  16. Same here, may I ask where you are from?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous: Originally, I am from somewhere in Southern Africa. Ironically, I had to come up to Canada for a job... after oh bummer took control, jobs seemed to dry up, especially for an older woman, even though I did go back to college as he suggested!!! Life is a tough affair. I can truly say I am a survivor.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, life can be tough, we all have our ups and down. Although I'm mostly a liberal (agree more with the right wing on Israel, since it is a country I lived in and loved it)I also agree with conservatives on this point,we are in control of our own life. Frankly the President, whomever it is, has nothing to do with age discrimination. I'm past retirement age and a women, but work full time in a retail setting in a major department store, my company hires older people all the time (they are better workers and more dependable) I have an insurance license and am also able to get hired by insurance companies (Life and Health)all they want to know is: Can I communicate with clients and close the sale. Going back to college is never a waste of time, but I wouldn't do it just because a President of the United States suggested it, it might not be economically feasible for someone. Try to listen to Dave Ramsey on 650 am, a Sacramento station, he is conservative, but he does not talk politics, he talks about personal finance, I have learned a lot from him, and take some of his advise have been able to improve my financial situation. He is on from 3 to 6 p. and have also written several books on finances, starting a business etc.

    ReplyDelete
  19. P.S> Sue-Lynn I don't like the Oh Bummer part, it shows disrespect for the Presidency, and seem small minded, it is right out of Savages playbook, one reason I don't care for him, if you are intelligent (which he is)and can form an argument there is no need for name calling.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dave Ramsey is great, I used to listen to him too. Bravo to you for continuing to work and run a company. With regard to name-calling, Savage does it for a reason. The fact is that the Presidency of the USA has been hijacked by a group which is fomenting a War on Whites. I have seen racism up close and personal and stand by the use of a derogatory descriptor with regard to someone who flagrantly disregards the rights of law-abiding citizens and does everything in his power to make good bad and vice-versa. We are, indeed, living in perilous times and evil is growing exponentially. If evil is not confronted and thwarted, then we are lost. I do believe the first amendment is about freedom of speech, which is already a battleground... as is the second amendment which enables citizens to defend themselves against a rogue government. Being a liberal, I guess you will not agree with me, Anonymous, but therein lies the rub. As can be witnessed now with the Clingons... corruption is being thrown in our faces! I guess people capitulate when they are in fear of decapitation of one sort or another. As I said, I DO agree with Savage on pretty much all of his analyses. What the media is doing to Trump (and has already done to Savage) is even worse!! I will NEVER forget how my stomach fell when I realized the implication of the time the President of the United States of America visited Saudi Arabia.... and bowed to the king! My first thought was: OH, BUMMER! Turns out, I have been right all along. The trick is not to listen to what a person says, but to watch what s/he does to understand the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pretty much every President have had a close relationship with Saudi Arabia, Bush and the whole Bush family were very chummy with the Royal family of Saudi Arabia, even knew some of the Bin Laden, not Osama of course, and in no way am I suggesting that Bush had anything what so ever to do with 9/11. No, I don't agree with you that the Presidency has been hi jacked, nor do I see any evidence of white hating. One of my problems with Savage, other than his style, he is just too negative. As for the name calling it is something I don't care for, doesn't matter if it is done by the right or left, I find it demeaning and says more about the person doing the name calling, than the ones he/she is trying to degrading. Just the way I was brought, with some good old fashion European manners. This country is very resilient and will survive and even prosper. I didn't care for Bush and agreed with him on very little, but I never thought he was the devil incarnated, even thought he was a good husband and father, and I never thought the country would not survive. We will, we always have.
