KRON Has Some 'Explanding' To Do

OH, KRON, channeling KTVU, has some "explanding" to do.

  1. These things happen so often now that it's a "so what" compared to a "what the fuck". That's sad in itself.

  2. Bahahaha!!! "Ho Li Fuk!"

  3. While it's a shame this typo hit air, it's small potatoes. If any non-professional types had any idea how tough it is now to produce any newscast with literally a handful of people in the control room (typically 2 or 3), and sometimes with little to no training in what they're doing, I'd give them a "pass" on this one.

    1. With that logic there should be even more mistakes and at least one mistake in every story. Every story becomes a crap shoot. smh

  4. You'd think some smart guy/gal out there would think of a way to make local news relevant again. The Internet has obviously changed things, but I still think there's room for tv, not everyone wants to navigate around a brightly lit screen with ads jumping in their face. There's something nice about watching the experience of important international/national, and local news being given to you via the tv.

I haven't seen it, but ready about KPIX' I believe attempt to incorporate social media into the news, make it younger, hipper, etc.

I don't necessarily think that's the way to go. TV is passive - let it stay that way. Find a way to deliver unique content, by professionals, who can let you sit back and take it in, form your own opinion on things, or listen to opinions of experts.

Shoot, I have no TV news experience but I bet I could come up with a format in a few days that beats what's currently out there. We don't need you telling us that you tweet, we don't need you chit-chatting more "gee Bill, that marine layer is going to really cool things off this weekend." We're not idiots, just put something professional, unique, and compelling together and we'll watch.

  5. If Vikki Liviakis is on camera, the last thing I'm looking at is the graphic.

  6. It is a portmanteau of expanding/explaining. Just like 'staycation', 'biopic, 'infomercial' (a KRON staple) and 'bromance'?

  7. Typos happen. Shrug. Laugh and move on. The REAL issue here for me is why is McDonald's breakfast menu expansion news in the first place ? There are far better things to report- even light fare news. If one must do light news, then I'd rather see a report on the local suburban fire department rescuing a cat out of Edith's tree. Let MickeyDees advertise that themselves. #WhatPassesForNewsNowADays

    1. I was thinking the same thing myself - I'm surprised KRON didn't combine the expanded menu news with an infomercial for dental implants or a new weight loss drug.

  8. Rich, can you tell me why Armstrong & Getty has been running repeats all week? Are they both simply on vacation at the same time?
If so, they should have allowed their junior partners; Vince and Sean (aka "the boys") to take over. They are just as capable and entertaining. Oh...I may have answered one of my own questions!

    1. Their shows all sound the same anyway. Most don't notice.

    2. A & G? Seriously? Do they garner any audience in the Bay Area? Since their move to KGO I think they've become even more irrelevant, if that was possible.

  10. Years ago every news station fired their graphic operators...someone's sole duty to build and spell graphics correctly... and to save 100-200K a year you get typos in every newscast... It's embarrassing...but that's the machine. News use to be on 4 hrs a day...now most average 10 hrs a day with a smaller staff

    1. Understood. What is the problem with paying someone 50K a yr. to make the graphics work properly? Get a mechanic to fix the machine.Come on, embarrassing graphics make the whole station look bad. What must their advertisers think?

  11. Fire Radnich - his incompetence is ruining the whole operation. Why should these people care when he is making money and barely putting forth any effort.

  12. Most of KRON's producers are hired directly out of college from Bumfuck U. for half the salary they should get for a Top-10 market, and they work 'em like crazy until they burn out and run away to do ANYTHING else. This typo is still better than the "FUCK THIS SHIT" most of KRON's staff would probably like to put on the air.

Hey, at least one dyslexic is making a living in local news.
