It's Official: CBS Plans on Selling Radio; KCBS: Ouch

There's probably a lot of KCBS people headed for the Old Ship tonight as this now is official.

  1. Madden doesn't give a shit about this; his health is a lot worse than people are led to believe. I wish Management & the morning crew would stop using his name in the mornings. He's not coming back.

  2. With KLIV's switch to country KCBS is the last of the news stations. I hope they survive.

  3. Off topic: saw the new numbers last month and KGO, KSFO radio are still mediocre, around 1.8 average. Talk 910(KKSF) is dismal at .3 The 2 new format changes, 98.1 (KISQ) and 103.7 (KOSF) had a nice bump. 102.9 (KBLX) sinking. Be curious how this new 860 AM does. It's all conservative talk, which I don't like, but not the nasty hate fest lineup KSFO has.

  4. Let's see what kind of happy face Susan Leigh "Ms. Pacifica" Taylor and Stan "I'm not Al Hart" Bunger have on Thursday AM. Hope KCBS stays as an all-news station. People still listen to their radios in the car, even though most of the programming is shit.

  5. Um....taking radio public and selling shares via an IPO in a newly-formed CBS Radio is not quite the same as "selling radio", Rich.

  6. I expect Cumulus to take over KCBS radio soon.

  7. Susan Leigh Taylor better brush up her resume.
No more chocolate cake for you.

  8. KCBS is boring. Constant repeats of the stories--yawn...

  9. Cumulus is almost Bankrupt, so they are not buyers. Moonves floated this idea months ago when it looked like no one wanted to buy the whole Radio Div. CBS Radio will be a seperate CBS entity. That way it won't effect the CBS TV and Digital platforms where Moonves says the money is now and in the future. Sorry to say Radio is a dying industry so nobody wants to buy big groups like CBS, Cumulus or I-Heart..In fact the last 2 on this list have destroyed radio for everyone, the employee's Investors and Listeners.

  10. I think the S-1 that CBS will file next week will make very interesting reading. If the Redstone interests are neutralized, this may be a way to make a reasonable return. MUCH better than Cumulus or iHeart at this point. However, YMMV. Wait and see......

  11. KCBS has gotten even worse since it became the only news radio station. No competition has made them lazy and they produce fluff pieces.

  12. Oh oh. KCBS is my back-up station. If nothing else is worth listening too, I'll turn to KCBS. Which I do frequently now since KGO shoved most of it's center-left talent out the door and replaced them with far-right hacks, NPR/KQED eliminated Talk of the Nation, and Gil Gross at 910 AM stopped allowing callers. I'm already down to drinking ditchwater with the only bedtime radio program holding any interest at all is mostly about bigfoots, ufos, & ghosts. If KCBS goes away, what's left? I'll have to get a library card I guess.

  13. I hope that KCBS will remain an all news station when sold. If not; there is all news on Sirius xm. Then where will I get local news? We will see.
