Seems all out-of-town, syndicated talk format--NO locals for now but that may change.

  1. More conservative talk radio in the bay area? Just what we need.
Might as well play country music too. International street to the Castro and Hillsborough down to High street in Oakland would love that.

    1. The times (and demographics) they are a changin'.

You probably see this daily in the Oakland area. Goodbye R&B and rap, hello mariachi.

    1. Why would you have to? You can always change the station.

  4. Just what we need, another talk show station. When will CBS get wise and put KFRC back on the air? That's what we need.

  5. It's a scrappy little network just perfect for the growing BA conservative movement. The L.A. based morning show "Morning Answer" gets pretty squirrly.

    1. Agreed 100%. The stranglehold of liberalism here is loosening as people grow up and develop a brain.

  6. Huge potential for an owner who wants to spend a little on local talent and promotion. Nobody is used to tuning into 860, so it will need some billboards or TV spots. It's a 50K signal though, like KGO and KCBS. And the competition is so weak today that a programmer at 860 who knows what they're doing could own this market. However, Salem has never demonstrated that they know anything about programming. It'll probably be C-list talk hosts you've never heard before, that maybe air on 10 or 11 stations nationwide.

    1. Actually, the average affiliate list is more than 120+ stations... Salem Media is trading at $7.43/share vs. Cumulus 32 cents. With a format in a box, they will probably clear a better ROI than KGO these days!

  7. I don't get it. It's a conservative format. KSFO has what audience there is for conservative talk and has the big name syndicated hosts. Where to they think the audience will come from? If they cut KSFO's audience in half they get what a one share? That's not enough to sell even a syndicated station. The whole move makes no sense.

  8. Maybe Alan Colmes will find this station as an outlet for San Francisco. KKSF doesn't have a good signal after dark. Colmes is not live on KKSF.

  9. Cheap station and cheap programming.

One of the hosts I think has a lawsuit against Savage or something? Ben?

The head of their programming is the mind numbingly clueless Phil Boyce, known for finding Sean Hannity. He hasn't had a single other success and Hannity is only a success because of Rush

It will fail but can't be worse than KGO. Our PD tells us to talk about "lifestyle and laughter!"

He's a complete lightweight idiot too

  10. Another Conservative station? Who listens to this crap? Old, dumb racist white guys I guess.Good news is that this demographic will soon die off as will Savage and Limbaugh. Bring back Green 960!

    1. Message to 8:03 PM.
The same angry white liberals who listen to KGO.
You know, the ones who speak in a patronizing manner to all blacks and Hispanics.
The kind of liberal who can't control their waistline.

    2. 8:03 cute attempt at a troll. The demographic that isn't dying off but will soon bankrupt the country due to entitlements are your beloved...

Good luck saving up for that tax bill when California goes broke (yet again) in the very near future and raises tax (yet again). Oh btw, enjoy paying all of those new taxes you just voted in a few weeks ago too.

      Dumbass.

  11. Geez, KTRB was a Valley staple -- sort of like KGO in its hey day. Then Pappas Broadcasting moved it to the City. It tanked and ended up sinking the entire company. Been a piece a crap ever since.

  12. It is an easy deal for Salem since the KTRB transmitter is co-located now with KFAX.

  13. The last incarnation of 860 am as talk did not even get a 0.1 rating despite having Mancow (best remembered for his Bay Bridge stunt) as their morning show.

  15. Actual intelligent talk radio. What a concept

  16. You mean spanish sports talk didn't take off? Now that CopaAmerica is "terminado", I guess that was it for the format. Before that they were a regular sports talk (and A's home station) with the incredibly talented Rick Tittle's sports byline usa show. Why "The Game" doesn't use him more is mystifying. The Guru? Zacharia?

  17. Why does San Francisco have to have another talk show station? There is already a glut of them on the air now. What's next? A talk show to discuss what happened on other talk shows? People! Get a life!
