415 Media Exclu; Doom and Gloom in the Morning at PIX; 'There's No Direction Here'; 855 Battery Malaise; Friday Opener

 KPIX BLUES In the Morning

*Morning Show in "disarray" --rank and file staffer: "No faith in new guy" --that would be non-factor, Mr. Hawaii, Kenny Choi, who is liked but whose presence hasn't made a dent in ratings.

*Morning Show ratings freefall

*Michelle Griego: "We (staffer) don't 'trust her."

*"There's NO direction here," laments a senior producer who has the ear of the newsroom.

*A feeling that "management doesn't care about the situation."

*Familiar thought: "Where's BRUNO!? That would be GM, Bruno Cohen, who continues to be lost in translation.

*Troops try to carry on in spite of overall doom and gloom.

  1. A couple days, they switched back to Kenny and he was picking his nose. They quickly switched away. Pretty funny.

  3. I watched KPIX last night and noticed a lot of fumbling and stumbling from Ken, Allen, and Liz. Also some of their reporters were too. Looked very amateur.

Their morning show is a lackluster disaster. No personality! Kenny is OK, just not a star anchor that people would gravitate toward. Their traffic person is the worst. Actually half the time they don't even have a traffic person, and when they do- they are so big they cover half the map.

  4. It takes time to grow and audience.. just look back to Dave Mac... before he was teamed up with Wendy it looked liked he was on his way out...and that was about the 3 year mark...not saying this new guy will grow and audience... trouble is always with leadership setting the editorial tone... plus you have to adhere to a solid philosophy.. as in, is my world safe, is it important I know and then the majority of the stories have to be interesting to engage viewers. Add to this that trying to garner a young audience in this mobile device day and age is simply a waste of time.. so you should produce for the audience you have and work to grow it... just saying...

  5. I don't know...This has been the state of KPIX since I worked there in the late 90s. You could get an orangutan to run the station better.

  6. I really don't understand why management stands by idly instead of actively working to fix this. I imagine their livelihoods depend on this. Get a new female anchor and pick a gdamn traffic reporter already

    1. I know Michelle is in her mid 30's but her clothe, makeup and lack of energy make her come off as 10 yrs older. Her and Roberta need to switch whatever they are drinking in the morning and find a middle ground.

    2. Ken, I may be a younger guy, but it's " SHE and Roberta...", my God man you sound like a millennial.

  7. The ugliest exterior color for a building goes to KPIX.
Who on earth made this decision?

    1. The ugliest interior on air talent award also goes to KPIX

The lack of color award also goes to KPIX

  8. Any station that would hire someone like Da (deer in the headlights) Lin, is an accident waiting to happen.

  9. Last time I heard that there was this much depression at PIX, it was just before Dave Mac's predecessor Stan Bochman arrived in 1975, when everyone was getting whipped by Van Amburg at KGO-TV.

  10. Nothing against Kenny, but getting rid of Frank was a very BIG MISTAKE for KPIX.

  11. They should have him do some surfing segment or something shirtless. That will get some new viewers.
