KTVU Posers Mibach and Arnold; You Want The Truth? 415 Media Here; Heather Holmes, Lightweight Diva; Better Off Reading Fresno Farm Reports; KTVU Should Highlight Rasmus; Hey, Mark Ibanez, It's 2016, Not 1972; Thursday Hits

THE PROBLEM (of which there are many) I have with people like KTVU's sappy Mike Mibach and Keba Arnold is that they are complete showboaters, especially Mibach, who tries to portray a "serious" look when he's simply a total poser.

So too, Keba Arnold, who strikes me as a fourth-tier news anchor who was brought to the Bay Area to fulfill certain professional obligations for FOXified KTVU. Arnold was working in Sacramento and now she's in Oakland, good for her, but she's not ready for primetime.

Neither is Heather Holmes --I still don't get why KTVU is so enamored with this lightweight diva who would be better off in Fresno reading farm reports --am I missing something? Oh, she's blond and skinny and dresses like a party girl from Burlingame --sorry, sigh her up, right away!

Holmes reads the teleprompter very well, I'll give her that, but where's the beef? Never mind.

Instead of promoting real potential stars that don't have to cater to the lowest common denominator and are worth watching, like an Allie Rasmus, say, KTVU is bent on relying soulless phonies with all the authenticity of a Lodi 7-11.

QUICK HITS:

*KRON still uses its OLD, decades old, news jingle--that stench-filled, vulgar musical Van Ness casserole that sounds like it was some leftover goulash from a Tommy's Joynt 2 AM crowd. You might want to can that crap if you're going for 10 PM legit.

*Hey, Mark Ibanez: the new jacket-less look is so 1972. This is 2016, get a grip, Marco--you're broadcasting live shots on scene--not trying to pick up sloppy seconds at the Condor bar. Get a clue. Better yet, ask your best bud, Pete, you seem to heed his advice, always.

*Dear NBC Bay Area: Have you changed your News Set? It's been, like, what, a day since you changed the last one.

*Radnich and Ibanez: birds of a feather...

Heather Holmes - As we all know... EYE candy. She can read. she can show the "FOX" emotion/happy talk. And she understands that TV these days is a game. She plays it well.
Keba - Ok... Was she called up to the majors too soon? Probably. But I give her credit for caring about the news and NOT just caring about herself. I see a ton of potential and I think the ND does as well.
Mibach - What a COMPLETE tool. This guy is as smarmy as they come. Can you say "Delta Bravo"?! He honestly thinks his sh*t doesn't stink. He thinks he's the best of the best. He thinks he's 'this close' to nabbing a NATIONAL spot on an anchor desk. "If only they could see me do this AMAZING work!" Trust me Mikey... They see you and the phone STILL ain't ringing.

My fav Ibanez story - He came into a local eatery. Sat at the bar and ordered a Chicken Caesar salad. Iced Tea. He quiety ate his dinner. Wiped his mouth with his napkin, set his napkin on the bar, said "thank you" to the bartender and left. Didn't pay a dime. I found out later that he 'knows' the owner and would 'settle up next time around'. I'm sure he did but the point is you should pay now and tip your wait staff!

    1. I totally believe this Ibanez story. I worked with him briefly and he is the biggest asswipe around.

    2. I think it's funny when guys who report on athletes who were never pro athletes, act like them. I saw Ibanez in the stands at a Niner game years ago. It looked like he was walking around and hoping people would recognize him. He didn't look at the game once in the 30 seconds to one minute I watched him.

    3. I agree that while not ready for "prime time", and her voice grates, that Keba Arnold at least does seem to put effort in to it and comes across as more professional than the (unfathomably) more popular Holmes.

  3. Mibach -- when you the guy Gasia cuts off you are not ready for a national gig.

Keba -- i am not a fan but she is getting better. Her bosses have developed the minor league KTVU plus for her to get better.

Holmes -- I get the eye candy but other than that I dont see it.

    1. With the absence of other KTVU black faces Keba's job is pretty secure. If she were Asian or white they would't let her race with training wheels still on the bike.

    2. ha ha, that's excellent 12:51! Though I have to say, while she's not fugly, I don't get the allure with Holmes.

Rasmus, on the other hand, yes please!

    3. You would be amazed who is on match - a very top SF socialite's niece, the "very secure" socialite and widow of a noted investment banker with a 30 acre ranch in Montana + her Nob Hill digs. It might be worth a look if you can put up with the Heather type attitude BS... The bikini clad Atherton MD who could be on Sports Illustrated's cover is another who comes to mind.

  5. Heather - You go, grrl!

Keba - Maybe a course in remedial prompter reading?

Mibach - Are you the SECOND KTVU anchor to have a red sports car in the parking lot?

    And on a different front:

Mike Nicco - What DO they dip your hair into in the morning before you go on?

    1. Nicco hair. It's either 30 weight conventional motor oil or the heavier 75 weight gear oil that goes in the differential gear housing in the rear of your car. The real question is why?

  6. Rasmus reminds me of Amy Hollyfield - really good field reporters who may be too valuable to place in an anchor position. I think both could easily do it, but very good on remotes. Rasmus will definitely have her anchor chance where it's probably over for Hollyfield for various reasons - management/her choice.

  7. Maybe the Dynamic Duo should do the show with Keba sitting coyly in Mibach's lap. I think they would become the 'talk of the town' in no time! Don't you? It's the logical next step. The next rung down.

  8. Since not topic is "out of bounds" why have you never commented
on Mark Ibanez bad skin? If he were a woman you would mention it
non stop. Do you think it's a distraction at all?

  9. KTVU sucks...tonight on the 5 o'clock news after a commercial break come on with a live already in progress San Francisco Mayor Lee news conference about the SFPD chief resigning after the latest police officer involved shooting today. To top it off at the end with Mibach,Arnold and Holmes putting their two cents in...

Nothing wrong with a Burlingame Party Girl!

  11. Rasmus is both easy on the eyes, and much more professional onscreen than Holmes. I am one of those who are mystified at the number of posts that often describe Holmes as "hot"...

  12. Ho hum...when did the news not become the primary focus?? That must be why im searching for my VHS recordings of Maggi Scura and Doug Moore highlights at 3:00 am. Id go to the radio if it wasn't for fear of stumbling into the Cory and Joel show again, just how bad can this get??
