Greg Papa is due to get $500K from CSNBA Shortly and He's Worth It

Greg Papa has been a Bay Area sports broadcast stalwart for three decades and is worthy to get paid $500K; just from CSNBA alone and he will, shortly. A contract extension is in the works.

Good for Pop.

The 500 Grand doesn't include Pop's Raiders and The Game's duties.

Supposedly, Papa has a lot of overhead --he's in good company there.

  1. Now if only they can get him to replace the master brown noser otherwise known as Fitz. He is a MUCH better play by play man and isn't as obnoxious and pedantic.

    1. Papa is a legend in his own mind -- a pompous ass. Yes,
Fitz stole his job, but there wasn't much public outcry because Papa is as big a jerk as Fitz is

    2. The best part of watching the Warriors in the NBA playoffs on national television is not having to listen to Rudy Rah Rah and his bullshit.

    3. Papa does come across as arrogant, but at least he has talent, unlike the worst announcer in sports, i.e. Bob Fitzgerald.....

  2. No he's not "worth it". He's a smarmy phony East Coast twerp.

  3. I'll second that thought. Papa is indeed worth his pay.
Now, if I could only hear him on a radio station that is audible beyond Castro Valley.

  4. I'm all for Pop coming back and replacing Little Brother in the A's booth. But, then again, what fan o' the Green & Gold isn't?!

    1. IMO, Papa's best work has been in the East Bay.

  5. So I would expect that salary exceeds what KRON's Radnich is paid for all his TV and radio gigs, or am I wrong?

  7. Does that mean the idiot midget is pulling in twice that?

  8. The big criticism I have of Papa is his touchdown call...the "TOUCHDOWN...RRRRAAAAAAADDDERRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!"

    I'm a Raiders fan...but when they score, I mute the audio .

    1. I'm not a Raider fan but I love that call.
Makes me almost root for Raider TD's just so I can hear Papa make the call.

  9. Papa does PxP for the Raiders fine, but he's a bit douchey on CSN and he's a complete jerk off when he's on 95.7. I'll be much happier when his career is over.

  10. I'm a Raider fan, 45 years now, and I don't mind the touchdown call at all. The TD's are rare these last 10-12 years so it adds a little extra to them.

  11. My only complaint about Papa is when he does his radio show with that cretin John Lund. Lund loves to go off on juvenile penis jokes and the like and Papa unfortunately encourages him and then lowers himself by making crude comments as well. His "TOUCHDOWN RAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIDDDDDEEEERRRRSSSS!!! Calls are also over-the-top. Bill King was much more dignified. Love to see Papa back on the Warriors TV broadcasts. He never should have left but a snake named Martin Mandell who represented Fattie Fitz told another weasel named Robert Rowell, (used to be a head honcho with the Warriors during the forgettable Chris Cohan days), that the W's could have 'Fatty Fitz' as their play by play gbuy for a 1/3 of why they were paying Papa. So Rowell said "SURE!" cut Papa out and brought in the eager fatty Fitzie! And of course, being the slavish lap-dog that he is when it comes to management, Fitz sucked up to the Warriors and always made excuses for them and got over-the-top enthusiastic on the air for them when they'd have a rare win during those long, awful seasons. I wish the Warriors current ownership would deep six this guy once and for all.

  12. I like Papa sometimes but his consistent shouting down of Lund is getting old. Papa keeps interupting and drowns Lund out when he disagrees with him. Ugly radio.
Maybe pair Papa with Fitzgerald and they can drown each other out.
