Three Quick Friday Questions and Answers; Pero Time at KRON; Garcia-Cannon DV Status; Brian Van Aken

1. Is Aaron Pero on his last legs at KRON? If he isn't I don't know what it takes for a guy that is so a part of KRON's eternal dysfunction--sure, Pero is not responsible for Media General's incompetence, but his mercurial style of managing; his relentless favoritism toward some; his open hostility (screaming and yelling at reporters and producers) has rankled the staff. Nobody has figured it out yet. I think I have an idea how he survives --stay tuned.

2. What's with the Domestic Violence Case against Brent Cannon and Laura Garcia-Cannon? At their most recent court date on Feb. 21, the case was essentially laid out and is headed for trial unless there's some sort of settlement--but Garcia-Cannon wants to proceed against her estranged husband--they both had an incident last July 31 in which she accuses him of shoving her down to the floor. Of course Brett said she flopped intentionally. He's living in a trailer park while she cares for their triplets ...nobody what happens, this is going to end up ugly

3. Why is Brian Van Aken still on the air at KRON? He's fulfilling his last weeks before heading to NBC and "The Today Show". Van Aken gave his two-weeks notice on Monday. He's unhappy personally because he has family here in the Bay Area but delighted, obviously, to be going to a prestigious location such as 30 Rock.

  2. You would think fake tits has benefited immensely from the nonsense. How can she look the Bay Area in the eye?

    "Garcia"...nuff said.

Congrats for him. Seems like a nice guy, even when dragged on screen so Gare could do his schtick last night about him leaving.

  3. Saw the Cannonball do a commercial on KRON4 today. One of those interview-the-advertiser type deals. Accidentally had my television on that station for whatever reason because as soon as I saw the Wonder Bra/Push Up BBW bitch doing the news, I changed the channel as fast as I could.

And someone tell Pero's whore that she didn't pronounce the name of the celebrity chef who's being sued. Chi-ah-rell-oh you dumb beeatch.

  4. KRON management are a bunch of pussies. They're too scared to even mention Pero's name. Pero isn't going anywhere as long is KRON is still in business.

  5. Pero stays because he is cheap to keep.
However with another round of cuts on the way he may be done unless he can trim some areas...and take a pay cut.

    BTW...
Anyone that stupid to get yelled at by Pero deserves to stay at KRON.

Why should Pero respect the staff when they cannot even have some self respect?

Whine all you want about "needing" this job.
You are nothing special, and it takes NO special skills to work at KRON,,,or any other TV station anymore.
    Sucky pay...sucky place.

  10. I work in the media but have never crossed paths with Aaron Pero, and it sounds as if I'm fortunate, based on what I've heard and read about this fellow. He sounds like a petty, self-absorbed ego-maniacal, power-hungry jerk, but I'd like to know more. Anyone out there who has worked with him or knows him perhaps can shed some light on what he's like as a human being? I am always amazed how people such as this manage to last so long in our profession. Of course that woman who runs the KGO TV news room is kind of in the same league, and from what I understand, KGO radio also had a supreme horse's ass named Paul Hosley who was their news director until Cumulus sent him packing.

    1. Pero is all those things, but the reason he's lasted so long is that most of the other people in the profession are as well, so he's lasted so long because he's in like company. Most people in this industry, especially those at or near the top, are jerks. The people who really make it happen and work their tails off are at the bottom, names you don't know, faces you never see. It's the same way in Hollywood, by the way, only even more so.

  12. Rich, can you do your own newscast on this secret production thing you teased a while back?

Hire journalism/broadcast television students as you anchors, and crew, writers, etc. and teach them the way it SHOULD AND USED TO BE DONE!

Interns can work for cheap and credits/experience.

    "The Lieberman Report"

"Where we only report actual news. No twits tweeting, or twerking. No liking shit on Fakebook, or celebrity bullshit. No crappy talk or pirate nonsense. No yelling like a banshee or condescending tones. No infomercials. No endless weather guessing, or over-used, dramatic breaking news (after the story already broke an hour ago). Just news.

  13. I remember when KRON Ch.4 was a Five Star NBC Media Outlet, a move that should have never happened.

  14. The quality of local 'journalism' in both radio and TV has sadly dropped quite a bit since the mid 1990s when deregulation ruined the industry and the 'bean-counters' took over the profession. The front office folks were always usually ass-wipes, but at least they knew something about broadcasting. Folks such as Kevin O'Brien, Mickey Luckoff and Tony Salvadore could be hell on wheels to deal with, but they were around a long time and their stations flourished. Now you have num-nets like this Pero guy t KRON, or Tracy, what's-her-name at KGO, or the dunderhead Hammer, a classic tool of a predatory company such as Cumulus, making the critical decisions. If I were a young person and was looking for a career, I'd certainly stay away from broadcasting. It's become a joke, and that's a sad commentary on our society in general.
