At Least They're Honest

It's bad enough that KTVU has been sent to the shit factory by FOX; certainly you're seen its transformation from leading, respected, TV News operation on legacy station to its current form of 2016 "Happy Talk" --being peppered by some legend staffers who don't give a crap anymore.

Let's throw out a current talking point making the rounds in Bay Area media circles; it's pretty nauseating and shocking too. We hear three of KTVU's most seasoned veterans; Mark Ibanez, Julie Haener and uber-camera mugger, Gasia Mikaelian recently uttered, behind closed doors, that "we don't give a damn about the future of this place!"

Yeah, they're there to get a check and split. That's about right. At least they're being honest. Next thing you know they'll all be talking like a pirate.

    1. I can't see Gasia being that honest. She's too Happy Horseshit all the time.

    2. It's only a matter of time until Gasia ends up at Fox in Los Angeles as it is. God, is she cute.

  2. You can't fault them for being honest. No doubt they'll come up with damage control saying they didn't mean what they said, what they said was misunderstood or taken out of context or that it was meant for private ears only. If companies spent more time trying to do the right thing as opposed to damage control, what a wonderful world this would be. But nah, that's too easy. Just keep those shameless promos during newscasts for Fox programming.

People with brains are catching on. That's why they're watching less traditional over-the-air programming like local news. The numbers are down and they know it.

    Wake up stupid fuck alls...

  3. They are there to get a check.
There's supposed to be something wrong about that?

  4. They're honest, it's true, and who can blame them? Especially Ibanez, who's put in a lot of time and work there. You might have expected this from Fox, but then CBS, NBC and ABC stewardship of local stations, which might have set a better example, haven't exactly made local news here shine more brightly than ever.

  5. Nope. I don't believe any of those people said that.

    1. I've worked in every newsroom in the Bay Area practically and I have no trouble believing it.

  6. Why should they? The place doesn't give a shit about them.

Most people I've worked with in newsrooms have that attitude. The days of Broadcast News are over. In fact, Broadcast News basically ended by making that statement.

  7. Who's "we" Rich? Whether these "comments" were actually heard or not doesn't really matter does it. The local news will soon be a thing of the past, just like nearly everything else we've been watching on TV since Uncle Miltie.

I do feel bad for the last remaining legit journalists of the airwaves of whom there are very few remaining. And for those who don't remember, Gasia was very good when she first joined KTVU. Aside from the fact that she's attractive and has serious up-front assets, she was once a very capable newsreader. Her coverage of the San Bruno disaster was impressive. She was the only one at the desk for at least the first 2 hours of coverage and she was very, very good. I think she's just biding her time until something else comes along. Problem is, there's really no place else to go. There are probably very few markets left out there that haven't been taken over by pirates. My guess is, we're witnessing the beginning of the end of Ibanez, Wayne, Haener, Paulsen, etc...
the only thing that will keep me tuning in from time to time is to see which form-fitting dress Rosemary is wearing.

  8. Gasia is a good package but I've come to the point I have to watch her with the sound off. Maybe they should bring back Romper Room with Miss Gasia (sorry I forget this is what the AM news is)...

  9. Is CBS waving the radio division as a carrot in front of Fox?

  10. Gasia needs to be adopted by Kris Kardashian. She will fit right in with her new sistas.

  11. Love (looking at) Gasia, but she constantly nods her head up and down when the other two "At Nine" co-hosts are speaking.

  12. Ibanez is a lazy ass who has been stealing money for years. "That's the sporting life!" what a joke!
