Friday PM Flash: Stacey Baier OUT at KRON; 'Despised' Assistant News Director Dumped at 900 Front

 STACEY BAIER --OUT at KRON

Normally, an innocuous, third-rate, assistant ND (News Director) would not warrant any bit of a commotion, good or bad, but that's not the case of one, Stacey Baier, who, according to one of my various sources at 900 Front was given the boot Friday at KRON.

Jubilation from most of staff would be an understatement --try, glee, singing, infinite joy.

Baier, by all accounts, was universally hated. Wait a minute, as some newsroom figure later stated, she was despised.

Not a surprise here. In fact, rumors have been circulating for months that someone; some manager would get the boot.

A source at KRON: "So many people quit because of her. She was ruthless. There were so many rumors that she would get canned."

Like Friday.

Baier worked with ND, Aaron Pero, another KRON misfit who rules staff by intimidation and fear to the point where actual reporters and anchors have routinely left his office, crying.

On Friday, it was his underling that was seen by staffers, crying.

No word on a replacement as of late Friday. And by the way, this move wasn't a Pero decision. I'm told this came from someone above Pero, who himself might be updating his resume.

  5. Never heard of her. So what made her so horrible? Anyone?

    1. Where do I even start? She is either mentally unstable or pure evil. Completely inept and lacking any iota of news judgment, she acted like the horrible prom queen you seen in teen movies, walking around like the queen bee and unnecessarily harassing employees on a daily basis. Her words were always dripping with venom. If she decided she no longer liked you, she would make your life a living hell. She fostered the worst working environment, which is why some folks quit after just a couple months and those who had put up with it for years decided enough is enough and went across the street. For all the people she made miserable, nice to finally see her get a dose of her own medicine. Enjoy unemployment, you b^$*#!

  6. Pero might be updating his resume? Do you really need a fancy CV to work the night shift at Dairy Queen?

  7. Best news I've heard in a long time! Whoo-hooo!!!
Working for this incredible fucking bitch gave me heartburn, sleepless nights, headaches, nausea, etc. ANYONE who worked for her thanks God for the person who finally gave her the ax. I pray she never works in this business again. The stress she caused everyone under her at KRON was beyond anything I would ever wish on anyone.

    1. She and Trixie should take over an unoccupied TV station on government land...

    2. Sounds like a plan. Except at least Trixie worked in TV News before being a ND. Stacey never answered an assignment desk phone, produced a newscast, did a standup, wrote a story, filed a report minutes after a presser, etc. before being appointed her position. She was way in over her head from day 1. She also lacks common sense and has no history background so every current event she's like "what? I don't get the significance" (in that Kristen Wiig voice). Working with her was a nightmare.

    3. Ding Dong lets hope Trixie is next now that she dumped Cheryl her job is done

  8. Who would play her role in a movie or play about KRON?
Meryl Streep, Renee Witherspoon, Sharon Stone or maybe Katie Couric after a attending Acting Bootcamp?

    1. No... the PERFECT person to play her is Kirsten Wiig playing the same character in Knocked Up. Dead ringer.

    2. Any bad actress will do. Baier once read a reporter's story about the mothballed fleet at Suisun Bay and then said "I don't get it. What does this have to do with moth balls". True story.

  9. KRON is such a lousy outfit their production looks like a college TV station. Everyone in the business also sees their operation as the minor leagues.

  10. Hmmm, seems to have taken long enough:

Not in the business, just an occasional watcher of Darya's bolt-ons until she speaks.

  11. Does anybody still watch Kron 4 news. what a dump of a station.

  12. I used to work at KRON and under Baier and Pero. Both very mean spirited people. Walking through the halls they've said, "Who are we going to scare today?" I wonder what their childhood was like, what led to their negativity and power trips. They've hurt many people and crashed that ship by crushing the morale, spirit and energy of many talented people. Bonnie Hitch, the assignment editor is also someone who threw me and others under the bus. After I left, I heard that she told Aaron that I was to blame for not getting video from a crime scene that I specifically told her 3 x that we needed. You can only cover your tracks so long before you derail. I've heard all 3 of them talk trash about their coworkers below and above them. Karma is def. a bitch. Bad people will always be called out. I hope they all can sleep at night knowing that their obituaries are going to be written with the same sentiments of this article. I hope all of you change your actions, words and the way you treat people.

  13. When I worked at KRON she was probably the most hated person there. I had a few run ins with her. Unprofessional. Immature. Just an awful person. She has no business being anywhere near a TV station. I can't believe it took them so long to fire her.

  14. my guess ex ktvu manager.. janice gin takes over... and good luck all... she makes deals only to benefit herself

  15. Bad leaders, managers and coaches lead by fear. Good leaders lead by inspiration and employees and players will run through a wall for them. Maybe because that's a harder skill or art to acquire, some insecure people stoop to their baser instincts in people management. I guess it's easier for them. I will not work for those people anymore because it takes too much of a psychic toll. I know everybody needs money to live, but those kind of people aren't worth it. A superior general manager will see how his or her sub-managers work and rid a company or team of bad apples for the good of the whole place. Bad managers are certainly to blame, but so are their bosses.

  16. Who had the guts to fire her? Sounds like Pero wanted her to stay. Maybe he's next?

  17. Baier was part of the Brian Greif regime. She was brought in because she would happily do as she was told, no matter what the impact was to the staff, and because Greif dated her previously and wanted to again. She had NO newsroom experience before KRON and everybody knew it. She caused dozens of producers, executive producers, reporters and other staff to quit that place - nearly as many as Aaron Pero.

Whoever made the decision, good move - now do the next right move and axe Pero, and do it in the middle of the day and make him box up his stuff and walk out of the office in front of everybody. Pero has a great habit of making sure he's not around when somebody is leaving for the last time to ensure nobody gets a chance to tell him what they really think of him, this would be the perfect coward/bully perp-walk. Morale will go up like a rocket shooting into space, Darya will have lost her manager-bully boyfriend and maybe KRON can start working to look like a decent news station again and attract decent talent.

  18. An awful, awful person. Stacey, I hope you read this and know that the people saying these things about you are not jaded former employees who couldn't handle your work ethic or that you were "doing what needed to be done" or whatever garbage you told yourself on a daily basis. You were despicable, mean and generally cruel to everybody who had the misfortune to work for you, and I hope this article is the first thing that comes up on a Google search when you go hunting around for another job. You reap what you sow, and Stacey Baier has been planting seeds of pure shit for a long, long time.

    1. She is deluded enough to convince herself the people making these comments are those who couldn't hack it. Sometimes you can't face the truth. She probably thought she was untouchable because she got away with so much for so long. Glad Media General finally woke up. Now maybe they'll address the totally unethical and inappropriate relationship between the ND and the AM anchor.
