Hey KGO-TV, Pay Ama Daetz Before She Turns Into Another Cecilia Vega; Sussman And Green on KSFO Morning Show Deliver Compelling Radio; Michael Savage is Acquired Taste; TGIF 415 Media Notes

Cecilia Vega

CONSIDERING the events of this past week, don't take things so personally...myself included, go outside and get a good dose of oxygen and enjoy life --it's a good thing, I hear.

*How downright evil of the 415 Media correspondent to state, unequivocally, of the "hotness" of Ms. Ama Daetz.  Call the authorities. What a crime.

*Maybe it'll appease the cranky crowd that indeed, Daetz, is absolutely network-worthy --note to KGO-TV: pay her.

*Case in point: Cecilia Vega.

*If you would have told me that I would listen to the KSFO Morning Show with any degree of enjoyment, I would have laughed at you. On Friday, I heard a show with real, genuine conversation from immigrant callers talking about real-life experiences. It was pretty good radio, devoid of animal noises and fart sounders. Compliments to Brian Sussman and co-pilot, Katie Green.

FRIDAY THOUGHTS AND NOTES: Hey you, Bristow? The KGO guy. Just because you're pompous and like to brag about your great pipes doesn't negate the fact you're a decent broadcaster. In other words, be happy you get even acknowledged here. The alternative is worse and probably would land you in Tulsa. Ask Jason Middleton ...If terrestrial radio took a U-turn and actually just slowed down and offered just plain conversation; reinventing itself, there'd probably be a healthy market. You could actually sell it. Imagine that!...Julie Haener: scotch and WATER!...Sussman still says stupid political things --so before we start partying, hold on. But we're civilized agitators --there's a market for that too...Michael Savage is an acquired taste. Take your blinders off and give a listen. Entertaining radio and it's free for God's sake...Allie Rasmus of KTVU is worth a look too...Before, she would never smile. Now, she can't stop smiling: Claudine Wong...The asshole at KRON that hacks Twitter accounts: you're on notice, digital boy...That loudmouth jerk at KQED -TV who mixes it up with the dumb blond at Boulevard should understand that the bartenders are not amused. At least if you were to tip above 10% they'd put up with you...A bad day for cats: Jon Carroll retired from the Chronicle, where they report about dead people still alive...Ronnnnnn sounds very awful and monotone --you won't read that in Ben Fong-Torres column...The hell with Gitmo: you want real torture? Mike McVay and you locked up in the bathroom at Arby's...Overrated to the tenth degree: Gasia Mikaelian. I still don't get it...I didn't know Jim Gabbert was the 49ers QB...If PIX's Christin Ayers wants the CNN gig, she can have it...

  2. Cecilia Vega is an overrated phony ice queen.

And Claudine Wong needs to lose the blonde highlights.

  3. Who the hell cares what they pay Ima Ditz?

She's an ethnic who reads the news. There are fifty of her in Cañada College at the moment.

    1. Your sir are stupid. There is no such thing as a person who is ethnic. What is a person of "ethnic" anyway? You're the unoriginal idiot who always comments the same thing for every blog entry..."Hire a ethnic, I'm a Ditz"...C'mon man. Use that small brain of yours to post something productive!

    2. > Your sir are stupid.

      Well-said!

      > There is no such thing as a person who is ethnic.

Maybe not to you, but they view them that way in the hiring process, and they look for "ethnics." Yes, it is an industry term. Yes, I've been told I should not apply for something because I'm not the ethnic fit they're looking for. If you think it's any other way you're the stupid one.

  4. In the vein of Lloyd Bentsen, I worked with Cecilia Vega, I know Cecilia Vega….Ama Daetz is no Cecilia Vega. Try to go beyond the cover of the book before judging character and content of a newsperson. Ama may evolve from a pretty reader to a nationally respected broadcast journalist, but time will tell. Maybe you should curb your ‘perv’ assessments on women in TV/Radio, and judge them as you do your male TV heroes (e.g. Dave McElhatton, Dennis Richmond, Van Amburg).

    1. Agree - Ama Daetz is not even close to the caliber of Cecilia Vega. She is better than I thought she would be - but please - compared to Carolyn Johnson who she replaced - not even close. And the other newby - Natasha Zouves - it's painful to have to listen to her - I feel sorry for Mike Shumann who has to sit at the same desk with her and Reggie Aqui on the weekends - as well as Larry Biel and Dan Ashley when she subs for Ama.

  5. Sussman and Katie "Wow" Green are unlistenable and just plain bad radio. I have to change channels after 2 minutes of his right-wing drivel. After all his rants and raves, his sidekick news gal Katie just says "Wow". So they may of had a compelling show the other day, probably because of the immigrant callers, not them. I sure miss Green 960. All we have is right-wing crap in the morning. Armstrong and Getty, not local at all, based out of cowtown Sacto (but never say it) Obama/Dem bash all morning. What compelling radio.Not.

  6. Putting Ama Daetz in the same category as Cecilia Vega is laughable. Vega got her start as a print reporter and was a damn good one and went from the Chronicle to channel 7. Daetz... she's got a long way to go, baby.

  7. 2:55 I agree with you for the most part. RIch use to not like Sussman and Katie, with good reason I might add, I listen to them at times in the morning, need the traffic report, but also listen to A&G. I can't stand Sussman.s personality, always saying "come on folks" always insinuating that Obama is a Muslim. As for the show the other day, I heard it. Several problems with it, it was all callers who had immigrated here and become more or less successful, saying they never relied on the government for anything, good for them. I came here as a au pair from Denmark when I was 22 years old, I never been on welfare, received food stamps etc. However, there is a big difference between coming here on your own free will, and coming here from a war torn country, where you are being bombed out of your town, and running the risk of Isis beheading or shooting you.
One caller obviously did not know the difference between an illegal immigrant and a refugee, and Sussman being the moron he is, never called him on it.
They other day Sussman was saying Valerie Jarrett was a muslim, and her mother lives in an Arab Country and started "Muslim SIsterhood" pure made up lies, Valerie Jarrett is not a muslim, (she lived in Iran for a number of years with her parents) I could not find any info on her mother, other than it is presumed she lives in Chicago with Mr. Jarrett. So how is that a good show. Rich is always on Brian and Ronn, but I think both of them, especially Brian is so much better than the KSFO morning show.

  8. They ain't gonna pay Ama Daetz any more money. The only reason she's sitting in the anchor chair is they wanted to cut Carolyn Johnson's salary and she said words to the effect of "Screw you!!!" She is apparently working in LA now and doing quite well. I (for one) miss her. She was a beauty AND intelligent!!!

  9. Anonymous Nov 20, 1:16pm - I agree that it's difficult to listen to Natasha. She is coming across like someone with a swelled head. Her ego is inflated probably because she got a plum anchor job in the SF Bay Area at a young age.
