Your 6 PM Live Shot Direct From Beautiful Downtown Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek, CA.

The water fountain at Broadway Plaza.

Lots of Caucasian people eating ice cream --especially the kids.

Live shot, reporter and cameraman.

Standard question: "How are you coping with the heat?"

An answer I'd love to hear back: "It's fucking Walnut Creek in the Summer, you moron!"

Back to you, Ken.

Thanks for that report.

  2. I want to see a live shot of a guy taking a dump in the middle of UN Plaza similar to the prominent picture that was on SFGate recently. Nnnggghh! Plop!

  3. This is a perfect time and venue to ask the burning question: Why do so many TV and radio weather prognosticators, such as Roberta Gonzales and Lloyd Lindsey Young, seem to think that the hotter it gets, the more that such weather deserves the description of "beautiful"?

I mean, these folks hang out in the air conditioned comfort of a TV set, or sit on their asses in a broadcast booth. What the hell would they know about how many/most middle and lower income folks experience weather like this?

I say that any weather guesser who goes on the air and calls temperatures of 95 degrees or higher "beautiful," or in any way discounts how miserable that weather really is, deserves to be sentenced to ten days of hard labor, for each repeat of his/her offense.

Maybe they get to stoke the furnaces in a steel mill for eight hours.

Or, maybe they get to carry hod to a bricklayer, as the bricklayer erects a huge new wall, in an area that has zero available shade.

Or, perhaps they get issued a tar mop and get to spend eight hours (less a pitiful few breaks) installing a tar and gravel roof, on top of some concrete tilt-up warehouse in Livermore.

Get a clue weather guessers... very few sane persons find incendiary summer heat beautiful. At least very few people who do physical labor for a living, rather than sit on their butts in air conditioned comfort and read text into a microphone.

We're tired of your weather guesser hubris. How about showing some compassion for people who make a whole lot less money than you do, and who don't collect their income for pontificating from a location with air conditioned comfort?

Roberta & Lloyd, are you listening??

    1. Excellent post.

I grew up in southern California, and the idiot DJs down there in the 80s would always say "It's a beautiful day here in southern California..." etc. and so on, while I'm carrying scaffolding, boxes of topping compound, other heavy shit around in 90+ degree heat. Hey, Bob Coburn, suck it!

    3. 12:27, sometimes while in college one works as a laborer on a construction site in summer to help pay for college.

Well, one used to be able to do that. Now those jobs are taken by people who don't speak the language of the land, who refuse to assimilate to our culture, and who wave foreign flags with pride even though they're living here (illegally) and making their living oppression-free here.

      But hey, "Dream" on...

  4. Camera crew doesn't want to get robbed and roughed up? Head to either the Healdsburg Plaza or the WC fountain. Anywhere else they are at risk.

  5. Lots of fake boobs, plastic surgery and men with bad hair plugs in walnut creek. as a sociologist it is an interesting phenomenon to observe. walnut creek folks seem to have the need to show off "wealth". Go down to towns where serious silicon valley money resides in atherton, palo alto, woodside, cupertino, saratoga, los gatos etc. in comparison walnut creek is tacky like the predictable water fountain shots.

  7. Want a real opinion on the weather? Have the balls or the tits to go into West Oakland, Bayview Hunters Point, Pittsburg, East Palo Alto or east San Jose. That would be more entertaining than the same sterile dumbass token quotes from the same sterile dumbass token people. But y'all best be packing some heat.

    1. Lots of people in those places don't have air conditioning, so they'd probably have some choice comments. That makes for good TV.

  10. Glad to see a big fat white guy is so concerned where a TV news crew does their live shot. Can't be in too white of a neighborhood, you are a joke. Look up the term micro climate, deli boy. WC is always 10-15 degrees hotter.
