95.7 'The Game' Sends Dickinson To Cover Giants-Dodgers Series; KNBR No Where To Be Seen

GIVE CREDIT where credit is due.

95.7 FM --"The Game" sent a reporter, John Dickinson, down to LA to cover the Giants--Dodgers series. That's good. Shows some serious ass commitment to covering sports, particularly when it's a pivotal moment in a PENNANT RACE, hello KNBR? Where are you, flagship station?

In the old days when KNBR was a legitimate sports radio station, either a Bruce Macgowan or John Schrader would travel with the team and report vital information to the various talk shows. Sure, it cost money and it was expensive. But real radio stations that purport to be a sports leader would commit to such a model, right?

Wrong.

KNBR is run by Cumulus now, which likes to take inventory on paper clips and toilet paper. There's a certain symmetry there.

  2. I'm certainly not a huge fan or defender of Cumulus, but this is just plain silly. First of all, I don't ever recall them sending Schrader or Macgowan on the road for stuff like this. Regardless of if they did or didn't, what's the point? They already have Giants broadcasters there. They've talked to multiple Giants beat writers. They're covering this series pretty intensely. To send someone else over there would be a silly gimmick, nothing more. Sure, 95.7 will send someone because they aren't the Giants station and the need to do something more to try to cover it, or more accurately, give the impression they're covering it.

  3. John Schrader was excellent, very informative. Macgowan on the other hand was a bumbling bore.

    1. MacGowan is a conceited pompous know-it-all. He's all about himself. He thinks he's the high and mighty. Part of that is right. He's high. Figures. He lives in Marin County.

  4. If you think 95.7 is a real station...

  5. KNBR probably feels that having the homer announcers yak about the game is all that the fans want to hear. Maybe it's a message to the idiots listening to the station that all their blowhards talk about is mindless dribble anyway. Perhaps the morons running KNBR aren't as stupid as we think.

  6. KNBR already covers the Giants extensively. There are morning reports from the team announcers. Why send anyone else?

    1. Murph and Mac get their talking points from LarryBaer every morning and report them to the Giant sheep.

  7. KNBR nowhere to be seen?! They air the actual GAMES! The A's flagship sending a reporter to the SF-LA series. That's as pathetic as their morning show.

  8. Big deal, no one will hear Dickinson anyway

  9. Dickinson is also a poser who thinks he's a reporter.
