The 'He And The 'She' At KNTV Play Misty For Me; KGO-TV Staff Still Simmering Over Southland 'Hotties'; KTVU Keba? Meh; Gasia/Heather Too; If I Had An Affair...Sunday Scrambled Media Eggs

 SUNDAY SCRAMBLED EGGS

A sea of sereneness at KNTV (NBC Bay Area) but beneath the tranquility lays an underbelly of resentment from staff over the treatment of THAT GUY and THAT GIRL ---the grippers say favoritism is running amuck --oh, she and he are quite buddies --he often takes her to the San Jose Fairmont bar after the 11 PM news and ...well, figure out the rest, kissy poo.

--Meanwhile, up the 101 at 900 Front, KGO-TV personnel are still simmering with inter-office buzz--not the kind of coffee buzz you might be thinking--staff is still mulling the coming change of scenery --the human form--come the beginning of September when the ABC7 halls will be infused with hot people anchors from Ell-Lay and San Diego courtesy a now under-fire GM who likes to wear 18-carat gold chains.

--If KPIX's Christin Ayers wants the CNN job, it's hers.

--Keba Arnold, KTVU, six weeks in: meh.

--Speaking of KTVU: four! sports anchors? Jesus Christ, they must be serious.

--Now beyond the annoyance level approaching shriek status: Veronica De La Cruz. (This is why men become irrational) GAME OFFFFFF!

*Gasia Mikaelian: I still don't get it.

* Heather Holmes: See above.

*And I'm talking about overall package--not looks necessarily --reading off the teleprompter; asking legitimate questions; looking like a capable anchor entails more than just physical assets.

*The forced chatter that KTVU--or more like Fox2 has employed --is beginning to really sully up the affair at 2 Jack London Square. Frank Somerville, talk to the ND and tell her it sounds like the shits and I'm being kind.

*Bill Martin: what the hell has happened to you? You're a nice guy, Bill, but your over-pontifications about "the marine layer" and shit like that are hurting your brand if that makes any sense.

*If Liz Cook actually just reads her copy and avoids idle chit-chat she's fine. She's not the only person in the business who got help from daddy.

*Ronn Owens: delighted that you made it out of brain surgery and best wishes for you and Jan and family.

*KRON: For the 877th time, your damn cameras are too close! For crying out loud get a fucking clue, morons!

*Wait a minute, it's KRON.

*Speaking of KRON, some jerks put a bounty on Stanley Robert's head which I don't think is funny in this world we live in but apparently the "People Behaving Badly" guy does, sorry, Stan.

*Paul Deanno would make a good anchor over at PIX but the people at PIX who run the show are clueless.

*Bruno Cohen: Think of the Janet Jackson song, "What have you done for me lately."

*Juliette Goodrich: wasted talent on weekend --should be Monday-Friday --but that GAME ON chick with the flaming eyebrows and ditsy hairdo is in the way.

*Roberta Gonzales: Way too chirpy lately, maybe you should read the room every now and then while you're at the gym.

*Leyla Gulen at KGO has a boyfriend --sorry fellas. But everything's negotiable.

*Laura Anthony: reminds me of a school teacher from Brisbane.

*Scott Rates: KRON reporter network ready --pretty underrated too.

*The most powerful person at KGO Radio: News hound John Lobertini...for better or worse. When the Cumulus suits come to town, they meet with him first. Why? You got me.

*If I were to have an affair I would start with Cheryl Hurd.

*Most Bay Area women reporters--TV and radio--have a thing for me (could you blame 'em?)

  1. I don't know if it's been reported but I thought I heard Erica Kato, former KRON weather person, doing the traffic report on KCBS radio this morning, Sunday August 9th.

    1. You heard correct, 10:17; she's been doing traffic reports on KCBS for a few weeks now.

    2. Erica Kato has always been my favorite. She'd be such an asset to a TV station though. Oakland gal, smart, and gorgeous

    3. Yes, I've heard her on KCBS. She does an outstanding job in anchoring the traffic.

    4. What ethnicity is erica? Black and something else? I've alwas found her to be stunning and its a shame we can't see her on air right now. Props to her not leaving the bay though

    5. She's Latina, like just about every other female on TV these days under 40.

    6. I heard her last week and she sounded great.

    7. 10:01 and 2:55, Erica Kato is African American and Japanese. She says so on her social media.

    8. Erica will NEVER get a job in TV in the Bay Area. She was lucky to be given a chance at KRON. She has no news background, except being a weather guesser and traffic intern. Best of luck in radio land!

  4. You're on target with KPIX's Paul, RoGo and Juliette. But 'off' with Veronica. I really don't understand your annoyance with her. To me she's a warm person, attractive, able to read and able to chat with her chums. I'd go so far as to call her a big asset to the station.

Elizabeth Cook, you say? Sheesh. She can't chat; she can't read - what more do we ask of her? (By the looks of things tho the dimbulb's about a month away from calving so I'll just grit and bear it.)

    1. I don't get the hate towards Veronica either. I think she's pretty good. her problem is the format of their 10 p.m. newscast is just unwatchable. But when she anchors the early evening news, she's fine. Maybe if they just allowed her to be a news reader and not a social media person, the hate might die down.

  5. New low at KTVU: Ross Palombo. This guy makes Ryan Seacrest look like Jimmy Fallon; actually, he looks he like he could be Seacrest's load-in-the-pants older brother. A waxy dude projecting sub-optimal pulse rate. This AM, after a bit about the fall lineup on Fox, he Stepford-speaks to Claudine and asks what shows she's looking forward to. Ms. Wong scratches her forearms and says after three seconds "...I don't know". You can almost smell the formaldehyde.

  6. Rich ... You need to stop using "Jesus Christ" as an expletive. You were doing good for a while but have fallen back into it. What's wrong with "Mohammed" or "Buddah" or "Jumpin' Jehovah" ? C'mon, give us poor Christians a break !

    2. 6:25 PM, I'm with Jesus on this one.
He knows that Rich is explosive because he cares about reporting. He also knows Rich is capable of much kindness. So blow it outta your ear!

  7. The Giants have had more luck with Call ups from AAA Sacramento then the TV stations have. No wonder they have tried Portland and San Diego.

    1. Let's not forget the BA has produced the laughing stock TV station in the entire USA...
      KRON

KYMA in YUMA has a better product.

    2. We've owned property in Yuma for several decades. Sometime I go there to manage our mangers and watch both KYMA and KSWT. It's amazing how several years later I'll see some of them on TV here or in San Diego, or even El-Lay. I was on TV there on KSWT demonstrating then-new XM Satellite Radio in their parking lot. Then I was convinced that I have a face for radio.

  9. Is Raj and Janelle having an affair or is it Raj and Jessica?

    1. If I was Raj, I'd want to be the meat in a Jessica and Janelle sandwich. Hell, I want to be the meat in that sandwich! However the favoritism part makes me think this is a producer/anchor thing not anchor/anchor.

  10. Obviously the most awkward "chit-chat" on Bay Area news is Dave Clark and Gasia Mikealian on Mornings on 2. Neither one is capable of natural ad-lib. It appears as if everything they say is scripted. And what's with those annoying hand gestures of Dave Clark? Obviously forced, and usually have no connection with what he's saying, reading actually.

Pam Cook and San Castenada continue at the top of their game.

  11. KGO's Natasha Z is born and raised right here in the Bay Area. She's NOT a southern Californian and has probably lived here longer than many of you reading this.

  12. > --Keba Arnold, KTVU, six weeks in: meh.

She seems tense and it shows in an over-anxious delivery coupled with a feeling she often doesn't get the words she is reading. She sounds like reading is something new to her. And when are they going to get rid of that FIRE LINE yellow tape behind her when she interviews the SF POLICE?!? Ridiculous!

  13. Looks like Ronn Owens isn't the only KGO talk show host to have surgery. That explains why DreX has been off the air about a month.

  14. "Scott Rates: KRON reporter network ready --pretty underrated too."

Really? He talks too fast, has too much nervous energy and moves his hands too much. A decent reporter but not ready for prime time.
