KTVU's Steve Paulson When The Little Big One Hit; 'Oh My Goodness'

Here's KTVU Super Weatherman Steve Paulson doing an otherwise routine Monday Morning forecast at 6: 49 AM PT when the Bay Area Earthquake struck--it was only 4.0 on the Richter Scale but keep in mind Channel 2 is but about 3.5 miles from the epicenter --near Broadway Terrace and Hwy. 13 on the Oakland-Piedmont border.

Therefore, certainly, Paulson had a right to almost pee in his pants. "Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness, oh my goodness", he said nervously.

Good, exciting television...with AUTHORITY!

  1. I love even closer to the epicenter. Didn't rattle me that much.

  2. He looked like he needed a drink after that little jolt. I'd have offered him a sip from my whiskey flask if I were next to his cubicle.

  5. I'm in Piedmont and barely stopped sipping my coffee. Everything has to be SOMETHING these days, especially on local TV. Brainless.

  6. Obviously, Steve caused the quake by saying the magic incantation "Mount Umunhum Mount Diablo."

  9. That's not a large earthquake to me, but I'm not surrounded by equipment and heavy lighting. It'd be good to know what kind of building they're in and what floor. That'll make a difference in how you experience an earthquake.

  10. The people who claim to live in Piedmont and it was nothing are straight up lying. The quake was only 5 miles deep which is why it shook so hard. I live just east of Park below 580 and it woke me up out of a deep sleep and a couple things fell off storage containers. Too cool for school and peeing your pants.

  11. Exactly!! KTVU is built on landfill off of the estuary in Oakland. A train or bus goes by and t feels like a 2.0. When those big heavy kino-flos start swaying as they hang overhead attached with c clamps from the lighting grid, it gives you a totally different perspective.
