Friday Evening Point Counter-Point

Make your point about Bay Area Media--TV/Radio. If I disagree I'll counter. Simple enough.

Oh, enjoy the weekend too.

  1. Rich, I'm just glad that we have someone like you who "knows the inside track" of SF Bay Area Media & writes about it. I'm also glad that you allow both sides of the story to be presented. Rock On!!!

  4. Why doesn't the local bay area news stations and papers do in depth reporting? Sometimes Matier will write about or interview politicians for more info but he misses a lot too. Case in point...the bill that was voted on in Washington to stop certain funding for cities who fail to keep in jail illegal aliens for the Feds was reported as passing along party lines. R's voting to stop funding Dem's voting against. But nothing was reported on how our local pol's voted. It took me all of 5 minutes to find the answer. Ami Bera a Democrat representing Sacramento/Elk Grove voted with the Republicans to stop certain Fed funding. All Democrats from the bay area and the rest of Ca including the Stienlie's own representative voted not to stop fed money to cities that protect illegals. This fact was not reported. It would have taken the news readers on Tv all of 10 seconds to report this info. Who writes this rubbish. They are not giving their viewers the total story.

  9. Mark Ibanez finally got rid of the mustache when he realized no amount of Rogaine or MiracleGro would ever put him in the same class as Tenenbaum.

    2. You must be new to the Bay Area. He had one for approximately 20 years on KTVU.

  10. Rich, as a very long time consumer of Bay Area news I strongly believe that local talent producing, reporting and delivering the news is the only way I will watch it unless there is some experience behind it. You can tell when a news broadcast has been put together with a local feel. Hiring of two new out of towners from San Diego and Portland to deliver the news fill be a failure.

    1. I couldn't believe they let Kira Klapper go! Now she is on KNTV. ...Saturday at KNTV.

    2. ABC7 offered Kira a new contract with the caveat that Oakland would be her beat. Kira didn't want to report from Oakland at night (this was around the time when a bunch of protests were going on and some news crews had been assault). Her husband does pretty well and she really didn't need the headache. She took some time off, traveled and got a job doing what, I assume, she loves; closer to home. In other words, "they" didn't let her go. I think she is great, both at her job and as a person (for what its worth).
