Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner Sensation Little Feedback From Bay Area Media So Far

As you would imagine the Bruce Jenner transforming to Caitlyn Jenner sensation was topic A around the big media domain Monday as its creators wanted it to be--name Vanity Fair and Jenner.

CNN went front and center --Fox News, MSNBC, not so much.

Locally, most of the Bay Area media --TV/Radio had prominent mentions and, of course, (following the local TV News handbook) immediately sent reporters to ask LGBT members to ask their opinion of the Jenner story.

Nothing unusual.

Radio, of the small amount of local shows, had scarce mention, if at all.

I would imagine there's a "Don't touch it" kind of business going on at some stations. I didn't hear a peep on the KNBR "Morning Show"--they were talking about bobbleheads and the Giants. OK, makes sense. Not unexpected.

On KGO, I would imagine Ronnnnnnnnnnnnn will provide analysis as only Ronnnnnnnnnnnnnn could do.

Armstrong and Getty on IHeart diced and sliced.

  1. We don't need to hear anymore about this sideswho freak, or anymore sob stories about all the freaks who have been conned (or who try to con the rest of everyone else) into thinking that that sort of radical surgery/makeover is OK.

    1. Agreed. Reminds me of the high school kid who wanted to use his commencement speech to come out as gay. Narcissistic, self centered jack ass yet it is treated in the media as some sort of heroic act. I'm a liberal verging on Marxist but this gaygaygaygaygaygay stuff is over the top.

    2. @7:53 It's ok. It's not your fault that you're a homophobe.

    3. 8:54, it's OK, I don't give a shit about your made up fears or PC slurs.

    4. This has been going on since the days of P.T. Barnum: Show-people can aggregate freaks in a single venue, under the same tent, and people will clamor to witness the display of two-headed sheep, midget ladies, and six-legged foal. Much of media is like that today. 8:51 and 7:53 are correct, in my view. It's certainly not news; it is, indeed, a freak show.

  2. I was 11 when Bruce Jenner won the gold in the Decathalon and when the Olympics were a much bigger deal. As a young athlete, I wanted to be Bruce Jenner, Mark Spitz, along with track stars like Rod Milburn and boxers like the Spinks brothers. In my mind, I figured I could play 3rd base for the Giants in the Summer, play tight end for the Niners in the Fall and small forward for the Warriors in between. I figured Rick Barry would be retired by then and they'd need me in the lineup. I'd be in the Olympics every four years so it was no big deal to fit that in.

    2. I wouldn't be on here if I did. I'd be lighting my cigars with $100 bills from my Nike endorsement money.

    3. Too funny. I remember all of those athletes. At least you had goals. I remember Spitz on the cover of SI or something similar with all those gold medals around his neck. I was in awe. An Olympic gold medal, to me, was the ultimate prize in athletics.

  3. And the Kardashian money making machine rolls onward.

I couldn't care less if he/she wanted to live as a woman. Good for him in that regards. Be yourself. What does bother me is the supposedly "personal" choice to have this makeover....in the public eye....with millions to be made...interviews...
magazines...upcoming endorsements...television show. All for money.

  5. I bet this topic will be among one of the 478 topics Gil Gross discusses today.

  6. Personally, I don't care. I wish Jenner all the best, but I don't care, and I don't care to hear about it as if it was as important as ISIS or crooked national politicians. What I care about is that this is covered on the NBC, CBS and ABC nightly news. They have 22 minutes every evening to cover the world, and I can't see this as being newsworthy on that level, especially since it's being carried ad nauseum on Inside Edition, TMZ and the other tabloid press.

  7. > Little feedback so far.

Good. I'm so sick of all the Jenners/Kardashians doing every little thing in public. Bruce can do whatever he wants to do and so can the rest of them, but why these people are more newsworthy than truly accomplished people baffles me. Who cares where Kendall Jenner goes shopping, or what Kourtney and Kim said about Kris? I wish the media would ignore them all.

  10. Hey folks, I'm waiting for the other shoe (I'm sure it's fashionable) to drop. Anyone got any ideas about what commercials she's do? Maybe Este Lauder cosmetics or some kind of lipsticks? She could vouch for a PMS preventative product because undoubtedly she wouldn't get PMS. I think it would be a stretch for her to a Kotex product line commercial. Horrors, maybe she'll endorse a dating site like eharmony.com or match.com. Wouldn't she be a prize!

  12. Sad to mutilate oneself over such confusion. Looks now that manslaughter incident of his was to keep him in line, in case he got cold feet. I heard a quote today from Bruce, "Once this Variety mag cover is out, I'm Free!".

yup. you crossed that finish line Bruce. Your handlers will let that manslaughter charge slip by like it never happened.

the mind-control of this targeted individual is something to behold.

  13. American Freak Show He Is!

  14. I remember when Bruce Jenner won all of those Gold Medals for the Decathlon in the Olympics...He was then the all American Boy, and so very handsome, the sky was the limit for him after the games ended. Then after awhile I noticed something about Bruce, he had done some very serious plastic surgery on his face! And I wondered why such a handsome young man would F his face up the way that he did?! And I remember saying, whoever did his Plastic Surgery needs to be sued, because the Doctor made his face look very "Feminine?!" Now I know why...

I must say what Caitlyn did is courageous, this is no easy feat to transition from a Man to a Woman...But now Caitlyn should just go live her life quietly. After the Diane Sawyer interview Bruce should have done his transition in private, without the glare of the viewing public. But now there is the coming out on the Vanity Fair Cover, then the E Network series about the transition. I would have respected you more Caitlyn if your journey & struggle would have been documented on Logo, The History Channel, or The Discovery Channel, instead of the E Network that is the Holy Grail of the Kardashians?!

Bruce/Caitlyn has said recently that she needs to make some money, because of the surgeries, house payments, and such, but its hard to have Credibility, when you are on the same Network "E", that also televises Keeping Up With The Kardashians, imvho. Just my 2 cents....

    1. I wondered if the reality shows were to pay for the surgeries and now I know. Thanks.
