Three Bay Area Media Heavyweights From Yesterday: Fred Pardini, Don Sanchez and Jan Hutchins At Rick Barry Tribute

I had the pleasure of hosting a tribute to Rick Barry Thursday Night at the I Magnin Rooftop Garden in Oakland. Among the luminaries here: From left: Fred Pardini, the award-winning KGO-TV cameraman; Don Sanchez, news and sports anchor, KGO-TV and Jan Hutchins, longtime KPIX sports anchor.

  1. Oh,this was the function Rick Barry tried to give a mention too on 9-12knbr a few weeks ago. Except,as soon as the all timer said "Put together by your friend Rich Lieberman" the Producer cut off the HOF and former knbr host like he was dooky. Just hung up on him as Barry was still talking.
That's not producer balls, that's rocks in your head producer thinking.
I would bet Rick Barry left a message for Lee Hammer that just about eviscerated the gm and dope. Left, because he sure as hell wasn't going to pick up.

    1. Do you have a longer list with the shares? Interesting to see how different 25-54 looks than the usual 6+

  3. I wish Don Sanchez and Cheryl Jennings would stop with the plastic surgery. ABC's 6pm news is my favorite, but I have to turn away when the camera goes to Cheryl. Kudos to the women anchors who age "gracefully".

  4. I was an intern at 36 years ago -- where Hutch was an anchor. He was great. Wickedly smart. Would cruise in a few minutes before going on air, get touched up and then go out and do an incredible job. Called him for some advice a few years later -- and he gave me just the right amount of encouragement along with a kick in the pants that resonates with me to this day. Great to see him. Looks like he's in terrific shape, too. No surprise there.

  5. I'm not a fan of Don Sanchez' new look. He needs to bring back the 'stasche.

    1. Barry was one of the best and most versatile players I have ever seen on the hardwood. Deadeye at the charity stripe, too!

    2. Bastida needs to grow back his 'stache, too. He's never looked right without it.

    3. While we're at it, Fonzi needs to re-grow his 'stache too.

How about, instead of the usual shaving something off for charity, let's ask these guys to grow back their mustaches for charity!

  6. Did you do a song and dance number ala Billy Crystal when he hosts the Oscars?

  7. Jan Hutchins has really kept himself together. I guess "the body is the temple of the spirit" truly.

    1. Agreed. As Tom Leykis famously says: "women age like milk and men age like fine wine". Although I'm ready to revoke Sanchez's man card. Stop with the plastic surgery man! You're starting to look like Bruce Jenner. , too honest. This post will never see the light of day.

    2. Jan's hair style is reminiscent of the barber (Eddie Murphy) in "Coming to America"
