Right-Wing Radio Echo Machine Embraces American Sniper

SAVAGE: Devoted multiple segments; says "libs" are afraid to embrace. (Yeah, that's why it's grossed over $100M). $200M!

LIMBAUGH: Much as he did with Forest Gump, has made this film his companion hobby. Repeated pieces every day.

RONN OWENS: Back from vacation, devoted entire first hour saying how wonderful it was.

HANNITY: Has had the director, star and behind-scenes people on both his TV and radio show. "A great 'American" film." As if it was a Canadian production. Thanks Sean.

GLENN BECK: Only thing missing from the whack job is tears. Wait a minute: he'll be on that one shortly.

*Everything I've heard is that, indeed, American Sniper very good movie. I haven't seen it yet but I'll get around to it sooner or later but the mass orgasm over this cinematic enterprise by the right-wing radio echo machine makes me a little guarded.

  1. Could part of the right wing erection to this movie be attributed to the fact that Clint Eastwood (he of the senile empty chair speech) is behind it? Regardless, not in the least bit interested in watching this movie. I'd rather watch "Citizenfour". I do find it amusing that right wingers find it necessary to wrap themselves in every jingoistic endeavor that crosses their path. They can't help themselves! Btw, I'm excited those morons think Scott Walker as their nominee is a great idea. LMAO!!!

    1. I find it interesting that left wing self-haters feel the need to project their inner self-hatred onto others, and though they claim to be tolerant and peaceful, call other people senile if they disagree with them.

I don't find it amusing that leftists wrap themselves up in every manner of feeling anti-American anti-American-culture.

    2. The right wing needs something (or in this case, someone) to jack off to. They need someone to make them feel good about their pathetic lot in life. A decade ago they had Pat Tillman. Now they have Chris Kyle.

    3. 12:09, looked in the mirror lately? You are oozing more hatred than those "evil" right wingers. What a pitiful existence you must lead.

    4. The fully erect right wingers in love of this movie, are the same right wingers who don't hesitate to cut veteran benefits when they comeback home. Hypocritical bastards. I do hope they elect Scott Walker as their presidential nominee. What a laugh fest that'd be!!!

    5. 10:14, you're not too bright, are you?

You also seem to have an issue with certain members of humanity.

I know veterans who enjoyed this movie, and aren't at all happy with those who cut benefits (and that would include not only some Republicans who do so, but Barry Sotero as well.)

    6. I think a lot of the right wingers get such massive hard ons for these movies because they feel guilty they never served. Bunch of chicken hawks. Take a look at that list. Which of those big mouths ever put on a uniform?

    7. Maybe 6:00/10:14 etc. has such an obsession with erections because he is incapable of having one?

    8. @3:33, the fact that you are a "birther" disqualifies you from any intellectual conversation. Not that the comments section of RL415 are a bastion of smarts. It seems to be a place where lonely, old, white conservatives can come and spew the shit they can't say at work or around their larger groups of friends. At least it ain't Yahoo! or YouTube, I guess.

    9. 1:51, you are hardly the arbiter of who is qualified to participate in any discussions, especially with your bigotted and ignorant line about "it seems to be a place...".

    10. This type of movie is aimed at the growing impotence of the angry white male whose flaccidity is countered with the dehumanization of people of color. Full erection is achieved when people of color "are put in their place" either via violence or incarceration or by coming to the 415 space to disperse racial hatred. The angry white male, by voting against his interests for years now finds himself economically diminished, thus he finds comfort in the blame game. In his mind, he's a flaccid, diminished person in this capitalist system because of "Islamofascists" and "foreigners". Thus, he finds his hero in the Sniper. His manhood is represented by the fully erect weapon aimed at a target whose death will help build up the diminished, soulless angry white male. Thus the victim's demise is necessary for the angry white male to realize his "fullness". It is his Viagra.
      Sincerely,
      Dr. Freud

    11. 7:27/6:00/10:14 has some serious issues. On the one hand, they're a bit funny to observe in isolation. On the other, the fact that this entity is likely allowed to drive, vote, and just be in public without a guard or orderly to protect it and others from itself is disturbing. Mental illness is a major problem, and it's a shame that Reagan closed so many of the facilities that this disturbed individual should be housed at.

As well as the mental imbalance, this entity is massively hypocritical, in that it claims others are angry, and infers (or more) that whites are racist, yet this entity at 7:27/6:00/10:14 et al is clearly angry and bigotted. As well as self-deluding.

Hey, Freakshow; if you don't think islamists are dangerous, how about you go live in Saudi Arabia for a while and see if you have the same freedoms there as you do here, a country founded by those nasty white males you so despise...

    12. 7:27, do you feel it's "OK" if "people of color" are putting themselves in place, as in the shooting in the Bayview the other night in which a mother of three was gunned down in front of her children? Why no anger about the black on black crime? Where are your derogatory remarks about that perpetual mayhem and murder?

      Delete
    13. Are black and hispanic gangbangers "soulless" as well? How about rappers and the black panthers who preach killing whites? What are your views on them? Are you as loquacious in your critiques of them? If not, why not?

      Delete
    14. How do you feel about black males who realize their "fullness" by impregnating several different women with offspring that these males have no intention of raising, yet brag to their cohort about how much of a "man" they are by indiscriminately spreading their seed? Is that heroic to you?

  2. Speaking of right wing lunatics. Did you catch Donald Trump saying "I'm seriously thinking of running for president" in Iowa this weekend? It reminded me that Michael Cabbage in short order be floating his presidential run soon. It's be one a four year tradition!
Rich, you forgot to mention that short fat putz mark levine. He had a boner for the sniper movie on Facebook.

  4. I saw it with my son and he and I had the same takeaway - about a patriotic but misguided guy who became addicted to combat, realizes his aims are futile and almost loses his family. Just as he finds himself, fate intervenes and thwarts him in a cruel twist of irony. I'm finding that peoples' takeways from this movie are tied to their own political and patriotic perspectives.

    1. This is spot on. But it should also be noted that the author and supposed hero is a liar. His book had numerous lies in it, namely the issue related to Jesse Ventura, which even the National Review claimed was slandered. Not saying it's a bad movie, but I go into it realizing this guy was not exactly honest. Like the Director.

      Delete
    2. Not exactly honest. Like those in the current regime who claim to know nothing about Fast and Furious, or many other criminal acts?

    3. I don't go into any movie anymore as a fact checker - even if I'm measuring a movie against the novel its based on. I take it as face value because I know "artistic license" with any story takes hold when a movie gets made - most movies are designed to make money, and while art plays a role, making money factors in more, especially with a movie designed for a large audience. It's rare nowadays that a movie perfectly balances, art, veracity to the story it's based on and commercial aims.

  5. I haven't seen it and I'm not really a moviegoer. And I'm leary of reviewers that have their own agenda in promoting a movie...

I did see "Lone Survivor", which is also based on a true story in Afghanistan. It was pretty good.

Is "American Sniper" at least entertaining as "Lone Survivor"?

  7. Very good? I've hear nobody but right-wing nuts say it's very good (the Oscar nom is just a blow job to Clint). The movie is ok. A little heavy on its symbolism but that's to be expected.

I'm glad I didn't pay for it (Academy screener).

You make no sense. Why would Hollywood kiss up to Clint? They hate Clint for bashing Obama.

  8. He's a real American..fisherman. His tales are whoppers. Beating up Jesse Ventura and climbing the Superdome and shooting Katrina looters. Wow. From all that I think he must have wrote down one "kill" as 50. Pretty soon,he's the Lance Armstrong of shooters.

  11. Of course it is a hit movie, killing brown people indiscriminately is an American tradition going back to the 1600's and continuing today.

    1. You're such a brainwashed fool.

Brown people have been killing brown people for longer than that. White people killed white people, black people killed black people, and everybody has killed each other. No race has exclusivity on that sort of thing, it's a human thing.

Self haters and/or racists like you hating white people for exaggerated things is as racist as any Jim Crow loving person saying "all darkies are the same"...

  13. It sickens me how so many have a need to label others as liberal or conservative, right wing or left wing, perpetuating the revulsion of one side for the other. It is not an intelligent perspective; it is not conducive to any kind of personal dignity, and it does not advance the position of any of us as brothers and sisters, neighbors, and fellow travelers on this planet. It only divides. It only separates. It only tears down, and tears away from the good of the whole. If truth be told, we all have some liberal in us, and we all have some conservative. That we are afraid to recognize in ourselves the side we wish not to be known as, and only recognize in others the side that we wish to demean says even more about our own inadequacy than it does about our ideology.

Can we stop blaming others for our own unhappiness, and begin to find some common ground for agreement for a change? There is no honest dialogue anymore because there is no longer a wish for common ground. There is only the need to be right. And it has proven to be devastating to the psyche of our families, our communities, and our country.

When is the last time you heard someone say, "Y'know, you may be right?" When is the last time you said those words to someone else?

    1. Well, hate to reinforce the whole thing here, but truthfully it's the conservatives who started this back in the mid-late '80s with the likes of Limbaugh and his endless invective about "liberals." Then in the 90s they changed it to "libtards." I never was even aware of any perceived distinction until I heard all the vitriol spilling from conservative radio. The liberals have no equivalent, though I'm sure people here will put the cart before the horse and mention something that happened later in response to this as "the first."

    2. I nominate 1:51 as an early favorite for 2015 post of the year on 415 Media. I believe we can place blame at the feet of the late Lee Atwater for the political climate of today. In his death bed he repented for what he did to Dukakis and I believe in his death bed Limbaugh will do the same. That guy has poisoned discourse in this country and it'll be a long while before we recover.

    3. I blame Roger Ailes. But, @1:51, your comment made me long for a time when we can all live like that.

  14. You must be my soul mate, I'm so sick of EVERYTHING being label left or right wing. How about some old fashion common sense, I grew up in post second world war Scandinavia, and I would say my Dad was a pretty conservative guy. He was honest to a fault, an extremely hard worker, had no what so ever tolerance for slackers or lazy people, not much compassion for people that broke the law. However, I'm about 95 percent sure he would have approved of national health care, which we had even back then in my country, he was a strong Kennedy supporter. Was very anti communist, very, very conservative with money, be frugal don't spend more than you earn. Very few American's can lay claim to that conservative or liberal. Definitely believed in a safety net, and was always willing to help those less fortunate, even if we didn't have much. There are so many issues that does not need to be left or right, but somehow the talking head has convinced many that they need to define everything as such. Unfortunately, too many people listen to the talking head and do not think for themselves. From what I have heard of the movie "American Sniper" you do not need to label it, Clint is just telling the story of Kris Kyle, warts and all (to quote Shakespeare), although Clint seem to have become more conservative in later years, I doubt he would make a movie that was blatantly so one sided, especially about a subject as complex as this one.

    1. Kennedy would not gain a Democratic nomination to be their Presidential candidate, as he would be labeled "too conservative" by their media flacks and other operatives. Which is a shame, as Kennedy was a great President. For one thing, we need the equivalent of an Apollo program now, which still provides technological and other benefits all these years later.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" would be considered "right wing" by the impotent set on this blog.

I don't know if Iraq turned him into one or if he had trouble with reality before he enlisted. Either way, it makes me unlikely to watch it.
Children need to be told the difference between "based on a true story" and a "true story". Adults should know better.
