A Historic Sunday in Paris

PAR500. Paris (France), 11/01/2015.- World leaders including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the European Council Donald Tusk, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko walk at the start of a march march to honor victims of the terrorist attacks and show unity, in Paris, France, 11 January 2015. Three days of terror that ended on 10 January saw 17 people killed in attacks that began with gunmen invading French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and continued with the shooting of a policeman and the siege of a Jewish supermarket. (Atentado, Terrorista, Francia) EFE/EPA/IAN LANGSDON I'm watching an historic day in Paris--ground-breaking, really. An extraordinary scene involving millions of people complete with dignitaries from around the world.

This is a day that needed to happen. Out of something truly horrific came this. CNN, Fox News, the BBC are all providing coverage. The images are pretty powerful and compelling.

    1. I know. I come here for the hooter talk. Since when did a guy who finds KQED snooty suddenly turn European?

    2. God forbid, 10:32 and 1:24, you should acquire a modicum of historical news breaking on this blog. Your devices have probably melted into oblivion from the shock of it all. Believe it or not, Rich is a very savvy guy - not just into dishing and hooters.

  3. That rally must have ISIS troops shaking in their boots. (Sarcasm)

It's all theater, Rich; nothing of this sort will change a single Jihadi mind.
    Nuke the mofos. (Not sarcasm)

  4. Obama will regret missing out on one of the most significant photo ops in our lifetimes.
Oh, wait, and miss his Sunday Golfing? Look at the pictures. Even Netanyahu AND Abbas are there together. Bibi is willing to take the risk walking around under the open skies of France. Now that, mes amis, is what a real man does to represent his country.

    1. Europe can handle themselves. Obama does not need to be there. This should be a matter handled by Europe that speaks to the world. America doesn't have to put a stamp of approval on everything. I'm Jewish and could care less if he's there or not. You're probably not Jewish but need to make everything about Obama. Netanyahu is there because it's a matter related to Judaism in terrorism. You wouldn't expect Hollande to be in NYC.

  5. The Day of international Solidarity with France was tainted by the alleged presence of one Eric Holder, a well known defender of terrorist's civil rights. I did not see him. Maybe he was 'leading from behind'.

  9. I noticed from watching accounts on the news that front and center, arms locked was Obama with the rest of the world leaders in France until I looked closer and realized that wasn't Obama. As it turned out, Obama had a Tee Time that he couldn't change at the country club, so he was briefed during his round of golf.

    1. As was stated above, by another person with a stronger memory than yours of the eight-year GWB administration: At least Obama's not in Crawford, Texas, every second week.

You conservative men (con-men) really want us to forget all about dubya, don'tcha? Well, we won't. Dubya's lack of intellect is is far too memorable to ever forget him.

Some day in the distant future the truth will come out and the world will "discover" that GWB has suffered for years from some form of dementia, that was brought on by his younger drinking and drugging days. The ailment will be revealed to be similar to when "King Reagan the First" was already visibly suffering from some early dementia symptoms, during his second administration.

    2. It's 2015, Obama is the President, not Bush, Reagan or Clinton so stay on point, Obama was to busy to go and support the people of France whom after 911 they stood by us.

    3. Sure Sotero is not in Crawford TX every week. He's in Martha's Vineyard.

    4. When this story becomes about President Obama to you, then you are a huge loser. Just deal with that.

Your life is not interesting, so your focus becomes Obama. It's sad but it's the reality.

I wish your wife/girlfriend/right hand was more attractive. Can't blame Obama for that too.

    5. So, 12:17, all the people who called George W Bush "Chimpy" and made nasty comments about him, and even put up websites parodying hem also were huge losers, and had uninteresting lives? That's a lot of losers!!!

    6. 753: I believe he was referring to the current President and not the person who was President years ago. So was U. S. Grant.

  10. This shows how much smarter the French are than the Americans. What was our reaction after 20 children were massacred at Sandy Hook? Case closed. God forbid the perp had been a Muslim instead of a piece of trash white kid...America the hypocrite....

  11. anon at 7:49..awesome post! The very neocon knuckle draggers who posted above and tried to make it about Obama and Holder, and who are fake defenders of Israel (Since when did the GOP stop being anti-Semitic?) are going to knee jerk react to your post as you being a liberal softie "commie" who wants to take their guns away.

If he would have attended, you would be accusing him of granstanding.

    1. If he did attend, he would've done something idiotic and crass that would've drawn attention to himself and away from all others and the reason for the gathering.

    2. I didn't necessarily expect Obama to be there, but someone of a high profile to represent the United States. After 9-11, it was Jacques Chirac of France, the first leader to come to America and support us.

  13. Glad Obama didn't attend

  14. "Funny", how if one points out objectively verifiable flaws in Obama's actions as president, one is a "hater", but if one had pointed out flaws in the previous president's actions, one was a "freedom fighter" or something.

You kneejerk lefteists are all so much more equal than the rest of us. You all should probably get more rations while the rest of us "knuckle draggers" work harder to support your big brains, Napoleon.

  15. The outrage! It was President Obama's solemn duty to tax the French security apparatus at a critical time by going on a public outing. Thanks, Obama.
