The Betting Guy KNBR Has On-Air Charged in $25M Scam; Adam Meyer Isn't Winning Anytime Soon; Wednesday Starter

Every week during football season, KNBR puts a betting shill on its various shows--the shill has a name, Adam Meyer.

Now, Meyer has a problem.

Why does KNBR put on a guy like this? Because, as we all know, KNBR needs the money. Or as the Raddy man explains each week, "this is business."

Good. It is business and sometimes people do the darnedest things.

Prediction: I would bet a case of diet coke that you will not hear a word about this on thee sports bleeder! (We hear Tolbert mentioned it).

Double down.

    1. When Cumulus started running Michael Savage ads on KGO during Owens show it was clear nothing mattered.

  3. When Adam is on KNBR I swear you can hear the slime dripping off him through the radio. Even Gary leaves the room when Larry talks to him. I think Gary is afraid he will catch something. I agree with Gary on that one! Business is business but man that one makes me squirm. I hope someone wears latex gloves when the ca$h Adam's check.

    1. Actually no. He said to that question last week "I sit here right next to Larry". See,when you want to think like Radnich- think the least professorial, and the most greedy thoughts. Then, you will be on track.

    2. Stan, you would be wrong. Let's just say I have actually seen him walk out of the room during the Adam Meyer's interview many times. Doesn't always get caught on camera. Some good advice for you sir: Look up "sarcasm" in the dictionary. No need to take everything literally.

    3. Next time Stan is correct about anything will be the first.

    4. 1148, He said that. Nothing by me added. Where do you see the sarcasm? I'm sure he gets up many times..but what he said was that people ask him where he goes when Kreuger is doing that segment?.
If he lied, take that up with Radnich.

    5. A few months ago, Radnich mentioned that when Meyer comes on, he gets up and wanders around the building. It was my impression Radnich wanted nothing to do with the guy.

I've noticed that it's only Krueger who talks to Meyer.

  4. That is absolutely one of the funniest and truest posts I''ve ever read in years of readin here. A great liff to morning breakfast. Brokered radio - ya gotta love it. Plus, I'm betting he was pissed on the outcome of Raiders - Niners. $25-million. The Sports Bleedder, indeed.

  5. They've had other touts on during the years. A few years ago, they had a really good college football tout. According to Tolbert, he was dropped because he wanted to get paid too much. Based on that, my assumption is this Meyer guy came cheap and figured he'd make up the lack of pay in his cut on bets on his website or from phone calls.

    1. You got it backwards, the tout pays KNBR. KNBR does not pay the touts.
      It's advertisement.

  6. As a Jewish man I cringe whenever I see a multimillion dollar scam associated with a fellow Jew.

    1. You must do a lot of cringing.

    2. Just out of curiosity - are you assuming his background because of his last name? Because I have the same last name (from Danish ancestry on my father's side) and there's no Judaism in my family's history from as far back as we've been able to track down - not that there would be anything wrong with that, of course ;-)

    3. Urban Meyer isn't Jewish. Lots of non-Jews named Meyer.

  8. I understand the need for money, but I always wondered why KNBR had this guy on, since he was obviously full of crap and likely a con man...shame on you KNBR.

  9. He did say " I will mention this once". BUT,I wouldn't believe KNBR when they say they will turn their backs on money- ill gained if need be. Meyers was arrested in 2008 for the same thing..guns and threats. Did that slow Lee Hammer? Did Krabgrass and 2005 slow him,in 2011? No. Ironic,Krabgrass Kreuger, was Meyers biggest defender "He got three right last week"..

  12. Corporate mediocrity killed local talk radio including sports. Cowardly hosts who take no risks. Infomercials mostly, couple exceptions.

  13. There are still a few good sports shows on the local radio. Tolbert is funny and knows a lot about the mainstream sports, especially the NBA. Ray Woodson isn't exciting, but he's credible. Marty Lurie knows baseball. And Greg Papa is solid, the best thing that the Game has on it's air. Haberman and Midlekopf are about the only two other hosts over there, who are really worth listening to, although now that Townsend will be back on the A's pre and post, that will probably be okay too. Krueger does a good job, but he's teamed with Radnich who's act had worn thin, and who is not really interested in sports. The rest of the talk shows on those two stations are not really worth much so we won't bore you by mentioning the inconsequential names of the hosts.

  14. Never cared for the Adam Meyer segment on KNBR.
The minute he comes on I turn the dial like clockwork.
Without question the most boring 10 minutes in radio.
Can't blame Gary Radnich for leaving the room.

  15. How much does he pay KNBR for the aappearance?
