It's Groundhog Day at the Insane Asylum Known as KGO Radio; Bloomquist Gone; Debs Running Newsroom; Mahanay Running Programming

It's just another day at the local broadcast insane asylum known as KGO Radio.

*Randall Bloomquist, the high putz, (and Ronnnn Owen's ass-kisser), brought in from Atlanta to temporarily work, (after Kevin Metheny's death), is supposedly gone and back in Atlanta. Or will be soon. Jim Mahanay is effectively running the station.

The multi-faceted, lovely and sanguine, Renee Bakos is conducting the inmates. (Talk division).

*Good old Debs Monroe, the managing editor, (withhold laughter), is running the newsroom and has sent shivers up the spine of everyone minus the lapdogs like Sherry Brown, Bret Burkhart, the morning news gigglers and Toto from the SF pound.

*Just when things seem to bottom out and can't get any worse, things get worse. A senior reporter is not at all happy and is "exploring all options."

*Massive computer glitches are taking place on a daily basis--just about every day dead air--real good amounts --can be heard on the mighty 810 AM. Sounds so sweet.

  1. It's incredible to think someone like Renee Bakos has any responsibility at any company. Her previous time at KGO was laughable. She's one of the stupidest people I've ever had the unfortunate displeasure of working with. Talk about a station on the skids. Or maybe just the industry. Sorry, KGOers but I guess that station truly is finished.

  2. They still know how to do some things correctly. Like they have Christine Craft on right now and as always I enjoy listening to her. So glad they didn't have Copeland fill in Wednesday and today.

    1. Christine Craft ends up on KGO when no one else is available. Those are the facts.

    2. 10:55 - If true, it only continues to point out how broken KGO is. CC is, and has for quite some time, been quality. If she is indeed their last choice, they surely don't get it.

    3. you are so right, although Christine was never my top favorite at the old KGO, I always enjoyed her show, however now is one of my top favorites, says a little about how low KGO has fallen. I use to get annoyed at Christine, because I thought she talked too much and cut off her callers too quickly, now she is a breath of fresh air. Her analysis of current events, and her independent stands makes her very interesting. She is not following any party line, that by itself is very refreshing. Talking about following party lines, another host, think his first name was Brian as well, sat in for Brian Sussman this a.m. and listening to him for a bit, I would have to say he is head and heals above Sussman, not that I agreed with his conservative politics, but there was no weird sounds, he didn't add "listen folks" to almost every sentence. And (I nearly fell out of bed) he praised Obama, granted he has his issues with the President, but he was able to say without qualifications that he agreed with the Presidents use of drones. (Not so sure I do). However, the point is this is a conservative guy, who sounded almost reasonable, and could praise the president on an issue they agree. What a novel idea, Sussmann take notes. Do you know just how boring your show is, mostly because you are sooo predictable, bash Obama, do the Biden minute, make fun of Arnie the mouthbreather (what kind of term is that), have Katie say Yeah all the time, this is Sussmans show in a nut shell, and it and he stinks to high heaven.

  4. An good example of them not getting it is that right now they are replaying a fucking Chip Franklin show. Very few days can I listen to 3 hours of his sorry ass. No way I will listen to a replay.

  5. Craft filled in for Blowensteinnnnn? I guess the giggling air heads they hired a few weeks back who talked about vaginas were not available? What happened to the plan to go after the YOUNG DEMOGRAPHIC!??

  6. An old staffer, from Disney days, I enjoy hearing both Christine and Brian.

But, good grief, they can't find someone to sit in for Chip Franklin?! He's only been there for about a month. Today, they ran a "best of...." There was a time when aspiring talk-show hosts clamored for ANY opportunity to get a toe-in-the-door.

Oh, yes. The mighty has fallen.

  8. One way not to know if Chip Franklin's "show" is a re-run is to never listen to him in the first place :)
