SF Cumulus Changes

*Developing...

  1. Yes, Lieberman has been developing this for the pas several years. Let me guess, the people who work for Cumulus are unhappy? Things are different now than they were in those good old days?

    Rich, do you anything new?

  2. Your intel was good on Hughes, I guess he's out. This Ethan Bearman is impossible to listen to and never mentioned sitting in for Hughes. This guy Bearman must be the SF Cumulus Ass Kisser in Chief. He took the shift of Barbara Simpson and now Spencer Hughes..........doesn't this guy have any shame? What an Ahole

    1. Same could be said of Sussman, who "took" Lee Rodgers' shift literally overnight. Rodgers completed his last KSFO show on the morning of February 18, 2010 . . . sans foreknowledge of dismissal. Sussman announced the replacement on his program that night and, without missing a "folks," was broadcasting at 5:00 a.m. on February 19, 2010.

Rich Lieberman posted February 18, 2010 at 8:38 PM:

". . . Sussman is a hate-filled nothing, a Glenn Beck wannabee who is about as credible as my socks. At the end of the day, it's pretty much a lower-paid nothing that suits Citadel [then owner] better. As bad as Rodgers was, at least he had an iota of talent--"SussMAN" is a total fraud."

That sums up what is there now, only to add "a Mark Levin wannabe(e)." Listeners to both programs will soon witness BS's transparent emulations of Levin's behavior and language, not to mention overt references to Levin as "my show prep."

  3. @ 10:43: Welcome to show biz, dude; it's always been like that. If Ethan took your stand on principle, he'd be standing in an unemployment line. It's no different in TV, film, live theater, live music, or anything else in show biz. Nor is it likely to change, since those are all "glamorized" fields.

  4. Why is Ethan an a-hole for wanting more air time? Everyone gets pissed at the people who replace their on-air favorites but never the management, who are the ones that give them the axe...often in their backs. Ethan is accommodating the request of his boss. Who doesn't do that?

    1. Exactly. I am no Bearman fan, but he is no more an a**hole than the person who moved into your apartment after the landlord kicked your butt out. It's just how it goes, folks.

  5. It would be nice to think that we just endured the last week-end of Karel. Please??? I only heard a portion of his Sunday nite diatribe - but it included (speaking of ass-kissing) a "tribute" to Ronn Owens.......including Karel's assurance that gosh - they're very close and have always been friends, Ronn offers Karel advice, blah blah. It was nauseating..........

    1. Here's an idea.... if you don't like karel, stop listening! Why would you complain about a radio host? It makes no sense. Just stop listening. You clearly said you tuned into his show Sunday night. Why would you do that if you hate him? It sounds to me like Karel is sort of like the Kardashians on this blog. People love to hate him, and they love to tune in just to criticize him.

    2. No, 3:34. You're absolutely wrong. I listen to hear how a once great radio station in a major market has died and continues to day by day. Next, I like a trainwreck, and I like hearing this one, knowing there is talent in Visalia no making $275 for three hour shifts who sound better. Third I like to see how really bumfuck management runs an ego ridden 50,000 radio blowtorch and just doesn't give a damn. Fourth, I like to hear fools get more foolis. I won't name names, but Karel is at the top of the list. If I want to hear KCBS, I listen (a lot) I want to hear music, I listen to my own or K-EARTH 101 or CBS-FM in New York. I do, howwever, like to hear the master of disaster, Karel Bullshit Bouley to . see just how long his stupid act will last with these yahoos like Kevin Metheny, the queen of PPM - Rene Bakos, the way left of crappy talk, Pat Thurston once in awhile and the part time idiots that Cumulus trucks in. I listening to hear the failure get worse. Cumulus knows how its done and they fail well. A radio station no at a 1.6 share. So, how about you?

  6. A big part of the problem is the format. Three or four hours on-air in 30 minute topic segments with enough repetitive news, traffic, weather and ads to insure the most superficial stream of talk. Add to that a "host" who tells boring stories about himself or chats with the weather man as though the audience should be fascinated by their chit-chat. Geeze, reading from a novel---or at least a short story---would work much better IMO

  7. What a bunch of whiners you guys all are. I think kindergarten teachers listen to less sniveling. Don't like it? Don't listen. What you're doing is no different than holding a porcupine and whining about the quills.

  8. I wish they would bring Dr. Laura/Dr. Joy Browne type shows back onto radio. It would fun to listen to something other than politics but also more interesting than computers, stocks, vitamins and real estate.

    1. I love the added exclamation points for emphasis. You know, because that helps make the point you're trying to make so much stronger. Well done.

  10. "You're absolutely wrong. I listen to hear how a once great radio station in a major market has died and continues to day by day."

That's nuts. I have to side with 3:34. If you hate what KGO is, today ... and God knows that I dislike most of it ... don't listen to the objectionable program/newscasts.

You sound like Miss Havisham, in 'Great Expectations," sitting decades after her wedding heartbreak in a decaying gown, near a solidified cake.

I used to listen to Karel's program before the Joe the Plumber firing. I enjoyed it, and participated in the chat room that paralleled the broadcast. I don't like his approach, now ... so I don't waste my time.

    1. Awesome analogy. You're so right. Like stalking someone you hate on Facebook just to confirm and re-confirm why you hate them. It's ludicrous.
