Kate Kelly Was Regarded As The 'Princess Grace' of SF TV Woman Anchors; KPIX Staple

Every now and then I see Kate Kelly pop up on the KPIX airwaves. I wish she was on a whole lot more but Kelly apparently enjoys her private family life more than TV News. Makes good sense.

What I most appreciated about Kelly: smart as a whip, graceful on the screen, beautiful, and one darn good TV Newswoman --cool, calm and collected.

That beauty earned Kate Kelly a description: the Princess Grace of the SF TV Woman anchors.

  1. I don't know Kate, but I know some people who do. They have the highest regard for her. She did some damn good work for PIX, too!

  2. I agree she was all of that, Rich. She was also nice to me when I met her once. I was at the SF Farmer's Market on the Embarcadero and I was behind her in line to get something to eat. She had a child by the hand and one in a backpack. I said hello and told her that I thought she was a good anchor and she smiled telling me thank you and then got back to the child that was jumping around.

  4. Her Maiden name is 'Supple.' I had a crush on her older sister Debbie when I was a teenager, and I always remember her little sister, who was also a friend of my little sister's. We used to call her: 'Little Katie Supple!"

    1. Kate is one classy broad. The hair flippers that can barely read can take some lessons from her - yes, I'm looking at you Miss Schertz. When did the gossip girls take over the anchor desk? It's talented journalists like Ms. Kelly that elevate local news to a network quality level. If needed to hear badly read Hollywood headlines I'll find a drunk USF coed to read TMZ to me.

  5. She is part of the "Jefferson Awards" package and believe she was the original on air reporting talent for the Jefferson Awards. I believe that is all she does now for PIX.

  6. Oh Puhleeezzzeee, Kate Kelly? Nothing wrong with Kate Kelly, she was fine.

But Lieberman's sentimental crapola about mediocre talents of the past is nothing more than a repetition of his mantra about how awful things have become.

Rich seems to be living in a delusional past.

    2. I met her once when she first started at Channel 5 KPIX. I was down at the beach and remember this tall slender good looking blonde woman doing a story. After I walked over and started talking to her, nice lady.

    3. I must side with 7:27. The thought of The Bloated one at one with Anna Chavez is at once revolting and disturbing. Yuck!!!

Every time I think about that, I throw up in my mouth!

  9. How do you know she was "smart as a whip"?

I love the way outsiders think they know the people on TV. She was smart as a whip because she could read copy prepared by nameless, faceless writers and producers? Is Jim Parsons "smart as a whip" because he can read lines about physics written for him by other people?

I've never worked with Ms. Kelly and have no idea how smart she is. But I'm betting neither do you.
