It's certainly not Radnich, who's often at a loss (unless it's about LeBron or the Giants) and frequently relies on Darya for sports updates and stats.
I have a question. Why do stations pay big bucks for sports anchor these days? Seriously, for 3 minutes of reading a few scores they get 6 figures!! Sports on local news these days can't possibly move the needle much, if at all, to justify the costs.
Stu Nahan? I know he wasn't in this market, but even deceased, he's a damn side better than these putzes. But I guess that's why you included Andy Rooney.
How about moving Jackie Bennett to sports? She's a big hockey fan. She'd do a better job that Mr. Mail-It-In.
Radnich is great TV. An all around personality who is fun to watch because you never know what he'll say next. The Bay Area does have great sportscasters in Vern, Dennis, Mark and Shu.
Know you asking about now but historically in the San Francisco DMA/ADI Wayne Walker was light years better than any of his competition back then and even now. He had the best writers, best producers, and boy could he deliver ... A real talent not to be forgotten ..

ReplyDeleteI'll go Richard Pryor in Brewster's Millions: "None of the Above."
ReplyDeleteAndy Rooney was a nice touch. I would have loved to see him do three minutes of scores and highlights.

ReplyDeleteReally! "You stay classy, Bay Area!"
DeleteWhat about Mike Shumann!
ReplyDeleteWith ESPN, Comcast Sports Bay Area, Bleacher Report, local sports anchors are an anachronism.
ReplyDeleteIf local sports wanted to be more relevant, they'd focus on college and top high school teams.

ReplyDeleteShu on 7
ReplyDeleteMindi Bach.
ReplyDeleteVern Glen
ReplyDeleteSecond it. Vern Glen.
DeleteShu's good, too.
Anyone not name Radnich
ReplyDeleteI'll second Shu. Straight forward delivery, minimal BS.
ReplyDeleteAmen. And he played the game.
DeleteJoe Fonzi
ReplyDeleteVern Glenn
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The BEST. I was so stoked when I saw that KPIX picked him up. Mr Involvement!!!
DeleteO'Donnell, Bach, and Ibanez. Randy Hahn did a great job while subbing at PIX a few years ago. All-Time favorite: Wayne Walker
ReplyDeleteNone of the above!!
ReplyDeleteDitto. Bring back Dan Lovett!
DeleteFred Inglis on KTVU, way better than Fonzi.
ReplyDeleteMilt Kahn?
ReplyDeleteMARK!!! And definitely not Dennis O'Donnell.
ReplyDeleteWeather women are more fun to watch. Radnich looks like a cherub with cheeks only a grandma could love.
DeleteI think as a team Larry Beil and Mike Shumann on ABC7 are the best in town and it's not even close. Think about it:
ReplyDeleteDennis O'Donnell and Vern Glenn: A has been and a never was.
Ibanez and whoever else is there: Really?
Radnich: Come on!
Word
DeleteBoy, Andy Rooney was ugly. Ahmed Fareed is likable and professional. Dennis O'Donnell is funny, as is Vernon Glenn. Fred Inglis is likable too.
ReplyDeleteIbanez is the worst.

Are these photos bigger than they were or have their egos just expanded to make them look that way?

ReplyDeleteThe above was obviously written by Radnich's wife...
ReplyDeleteRadnich is a waste of time ... "where's the remote" when he comes on.

ReplyDeleteWho is the second man down, wearing a green tie. He is unexpectedly handsome,,,,, not that that should matter, of course.
