DeleteI worked with Barbara from before her first days at KTVU. Don't make a big deal of this. She wouldn't go anywhere without telling her family. She's one great mother. I'm sure she just wants to cool her jets.
ReplyDeleteI could be reading this all wrong, but its ironic that someone who talks for a living may have had no one to confide in during this most trying time. I take it she is not at her home.

When things like this happen we all react in different way. Many if not most public people are very private folks. She is a very strong lady. You will hear from her when she's ready.

ReplyDeleteRespect her privacy. She deserves it. Her contract may have stipulated what not to say or do and Cumulus is litigious. Why do you think we don't see posts from other "non-active" people until after a period of time?

ReplyDeleteIt is. She owes nothing to respond whatsoever and probably has more on her mind than answering posts. You'll know when the time is right. She wouldn't hang her entire life on a part-time weekend radio job that pays $250 a shift after 19 years.
DeleteDoes anybody know if Barbara Simpson has severed all ties with KSFO? Just because her weekend show was cancelled does not necessarily mean the station will no longer use her as a fill-in host or to do radio ads. If that's the case, that would explain why her KSFO Facebook page is still operational and why she has been very tight-lipped about commenting on the situation.
ReplyDeleteShe was fired / terminated. She's free to do advertisements for anyone, especially those who advertise on KSFO. As for fill-in, doubtful. She didn't like the management plan and argued with them about it. As mentioned, she either doesn't own the KSFO Facebook page and it takes about two weeks for them to take it down (from experience) or, if not, she's just not responding and probably for good reason. She's probably had enough of the Cumulus BS.

Which family members are "concerned"? Could it be that she's just taking a little time for herself before planning her next move? Maybe it's just that she is speaking with her attorneys who have advised her not to make any comments or posts? Maybe she's having a new official photo taken and the make-up is taking a little longer...

ReplyDeleteShe writes a column published every Monday on www.wnd.com She always said that she wrote her columns ahead of time, so last Monday mentioned nothing about KSFO, and maybe was written before anything happened. It is posted on wnd.com Sunday PM-Monday AM. I will be interested to see if this next column mentions anything.

Were I in her shoes, I'd likely be spending time with family (Mother's Day is Sunday), or enjoying a great get-away vacation.
Of course, there's always the possibility that she's sitting back, getting a kick out of you suggesting some sinister scenario. I hope that's it.
Chill everybody. Barbara strikes me as a very levelheaded woman, I'm sure since the firings at KGO she knew something like that could happen, although most of those hosts were more liberal than Barbara I know she liked and respected Gene Burns, and she once had John Rothmann on her show interviewing him, it sounded like they liked and respected each other. I heard callers voice concern about her show continuing, and she usually said for now we are fine, but who knows.
ReplyDeleteI'm a woman in Barbara's age group, and I have been through some heavy changes the past few years. Sometime you just don't feel like talking about, or repeating your trials and tribulations, it brings it all back, when all you are trying to do is to move on with your life. I can imagine Barbara, saying to hell with everybody and (except her closets family)and everything that intrudes in our lives constantly these days, twitter, face book, cell phones etc. I'm going somewhere by myself for awhile, sometimes it is good to be a little selfish. Let's face it, since her show was cancelled she not really a public figure anymore and she does not owe us any explanation.

In this day and age. she should at least make a brief statement on her blog letting family and friends and listeners know she is okay.
