Breaking: KGO Radio/Cumulus SF Producer Spreads False Info to Newsroom Staffers; Bullet Points

**KGO Radio producer allegedly tells newsroom staffers that they're deliberately sending me false info and making things up to "bring me down."

**Only 415 Media has never heard of the producer and has never exchanged e-mails and/or phone conversations with the individual.

**Bragged to co-workers that info provided to 415 Media was to "dupe" me regarding proposed format change. (Nice try, if so.)

**Did a Cumulus suit go to producer and tell the person to deliberately leak information to staff, (falsely), to quell fear among newsroom personnel of layoffs because of format re-brand?

**Was this latest development a premeditated move by either, A. producer, B. the producer and a few noted on-air talent to discredit 415 Media? (Again, I've never of the person, never spoke to the person and I'm intrigued and bewildered--of course, assuming, this person and/or some management suits being involved in such a plot.)

**Is this all a ruse? We're not ruling anything out at this point.

*DEVELOPING...

  1. If this is true, they are a slimier organization than I thought. Why don't they just save whatever face they have left (if they have any), admit they screwed up and move forward? Good Lord!

  2. The fact that they would even acknowledge your existence means you're getting under their skin. Disregard.

    1. No one had the cajones to mention Rich or the blog. Most people don't read the blog except radio interests. The Chron hasn't covered a thing on this because it's smoke and mirrors. Nothing more. This is rhetoric that makes no sense.

Radio owes it to itself to make the cash register to ring. Don't like them? Don't listen and they;ll go down the toilet quickly. They know theh are dying fast. They don't need Weintraub to spout fake "praise" for doing the "best news over anybody." That's where DW is so full of shit and himself. Hey, David, come back to the blog and mouth off like you did before before you ran off like a sissy.little girl you poser. You suck.

  3. Amateur hour over there up and down the organization. Somehow if the overnight so called producer was ordered to go on air and say Rich was "duped" then it may yet be the lowest point of the Dickies' reign of error. Lol

    1. Do you really believe that 12:49? Really? The "overnigt producer" doesn't exist for David Weintraub. He works "alone" without a producer. That's why he's only on 2 hours. He, like Ray T., run "combo" -- announcing and running their own board.

Do you really think that Weintraub has "ins" with the higher ups? Especially higher ups who waste their debt-ridden time to worry about how to screw Rich? I on't think so. Are rumors rampant over there at KGO? Of course. Everytime change is mentioned, the "little people" worry because they could lose their jobs. Do you think that Cumulus' high paid suits would want that? Here's the answer ...

Cumulus DOES NOT CARE NOR GIVES A SHIT about the rumors that the little people are involved with. Trust? There is very little over at 55 Hawthorne, no matter the station. This is not Cumulus problem. They have a new NASH format to take care in San Jose. They have a station to buy there that is now being "leased" until the FCC comes throught. They have a sale of KSFO to worry about and the "bona fide" deals are bouncing off the broker desks.

THEY DON'T CARE. Nor do they care about you as a listener. If they'd let an idiot like Karel or Weintraub comment on the situation there, they don't care.. If they are that stupid to not check theire own podcasts, they don't care. It will be what it will be. I think Rich is being burned just to get under his skin. Will there be a change? Yes. Has to be, OBVIOUSLY. We've know that for over two years.

I doubt if anyone inside except the market manager has a clue what's going on and he ain't talkin'. Yet. Let the games keep going. I think Weintraub and Karel have more shit than a Christmas turkey.

  4. Remarkable that Rich Lieberman, who pretends to be a heroic advocate for integrity, is so thin-skinned that he only posts comments that confirm his self-serving agenda.

Sorry Rich that you bury other viewpoints and the honest truth.

  5. These people are such amateurs it's unbelievable. Rich, if this true, it doesn't screw you -- it's a feather in your cap. Makes them look beyond terrible.... especially when the so-called "ruse" would actually be a significant improvement over what they're doing now.

    1. I'm willing to bet if there was any truth to this, the Chronicle would be all over it. Or any other credible publication. I saw nothing in the Merc News either late last week, so, I say again as so many do, that Stan is full of crap. Lots of crap. He was asked to quote the "story that mentioned Rich" and he failed to. "Show me the money, Stan!"

    2. The Chronicle?? they're in the same sinking boat as KGO. Nobody listens to the radio or reads newspapers. 90% of the Chron/sfgate is from the wire service.

    1. "These people" rootvg have no interest in you or anyone outside 55 Hawthorne. They are "professionals" you know. They should worry about losing their jobs instead of playing sandbox games when their ratings are in the dump and the worst ever. They should stop hidin before their AFTRA and other union cards and figure out how to do "great radio" and not screw around playing kiddie games.

    1. No kidding...you know things are in the toilet at KGO when Karel complains on-air & on his website's video-feed that he has'nt been paid yet for the upcoming All-Star Debate...asshole.

    2. AMEN! And no airplane ride unless it pays his own way. The writing is not only on the wall, it's carved in stone. Maybe he can go to KOMY.

    3. On Tuesday's show, Karel asked for a sponsor to come foreward and pay his way to the debate, promising free commercial time on his KGO show.

  10. You think that 3:35? In the wide scope of things, this is meaningless and means nothing. People don't listen to KGO very much. No matter the low ratings and that weekends have less listeners than weekday listeners, doesn't matter. Comparing weekend audiences with few people and maybe higher average-quarter-hours and time-spent-listening "estimates" doesn't matter. It's apples and oranges. Have a 75 share on the weekends on Sunday when only 4 people are listening to radio means you get 3 listeners and the competition gets 1. Big effing deal. If it was a 427,000 cume, however, and you had 300,000 of those listeners exclusively to your station, you'd be a wealthy person. Believe it -- KGO doesn't have numbers like that. They cume 427,000 people a week over Mon-Sun 6 am to midnight and that's it. Big difference. Some people are 6 years old, some (and the majority) are closer, in this case, to 10 5 years old. KGO has, even on weekends, ao few 25-54 listeners. It doesn't matter if you don't have high cumes and younger demos period.

  11. Rich and the commenters here come across as naive and foolish.

Lieberman shouts, 'the sky is falling, the sky is falling," and the rest of you hysterically follow his lead. Oh the indignation!

Nothing but tiresome complaining about how the world has changed and sentimental exaggeration about how great things used to be.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

    1. Get it through your thick skull Dave "Casey Bartholomeu" Weintraub. 20 somethings do not want to hear you on their iPhones and in fact they don't listen to radio and no you are not better than any of the hosts your masters the Dickies fired. Many of us refuse to wake up and smell the coffee if that means accepting mediocre, sophomoric hosts such as yourself polluting the airwaves with your nonsense. We long for intelligent talk show hosts and you do not fit the bill and I doubt you will even when you reach the "old" age of 50. Why don't you go back to Italy and get a job as a guide on a gondola and just leave us alone huh?

  12. John filled in for Gil yesterday, I worked most of the day, but listened to almost all 4 hours through podcasts today (my day off) and as usual was not disappointed he covered a lot of different subjects, the shooting in Santa Barbara, some Middle East and European politics (no not anything about Israel, to those of you who thinks John is obsessed with Israel) the talked about the republican party, and he took calls, he covered some local San Francisco stuff. As usually I find about 85 percent of his program interesting, listened a little to Gil today, same old, same old, talk to an expert, and yes he is a good interviewer and he gets knowledgeable experts on, but after that I wish he would take calls. Also what is with the 2 guys that are on from 1 to 3 p.m.? Corey and Joel, they sound nice enough, but true to 910's format they don't take calls, and spend a lot of time talking about their personal life. I don't listen to talk radio to hear the host talking about themselves, not for a full 2 hours, certainly when you listen to the same host day after day, month after month it is natural that the disclose some information about their personal lives, Ronn talks about his daughters, Gene use to talk about his family, that is fine, but without calls, who wants to listened to these guys talking wedding, trying to conceive etc. etc.??? 910's programming is at least 85% BORING, BORING. However like Cumulus I guess they don't care about the listeners, and their ratings.

  13. I was plenty surprised to read Mel Baker's take on this over on the Former Listeners of KGO Facebook page. Why make this public, was my thought. Wouldn't you prime Rich's pump, then watch him implode with all this false info? Why bring it up, online, for the viewing public to read?

    1. So let me get this straight. Mel Baker, The disingenuous black man, Lowenstein, Weintraub, Kessler etc etc during company time sat around the water cooler and concocted a scheme to "punk" Rich Lieberman with a story that KGO is switching back to all talk? How is that clever or funny if true? But more importantly, if I were paying these morons and I found out they were coming up with stupid schemes such as this during company time pink slips would be handed out faster than you can say Dicky.
I also read Mel "The Trench Coat" Baker's recent comments on Facebook. That guy seems mentally unhinged the way he verbally assaulted the KGO protesters a couple of years back. Remember that? He came up to us and yelled at us to stop calling his phone line and he told us such is the radio business and he had been laid off 20 times before. After he finally left nobody knew who this homeless looking dude was!
