  4. Dr. Savage,
See the 1962 letter from Saul Alinsky to Jacque Maritain, it contains a key to a central tenet of modern liberalism: the excluding of and/or disbelief in the 'eternal' dimension of man.

A corresponding belief and implication of this view is the relativity of values and the attempt to live, as Alinsky put it "completely emancipated from the shackles of values". (Instead of 'One nation under God', the 'self-sovereignty of Man' as Aurel Kolnai wrote in 'Privilege and Liberty' and 'The Meaning of the "Common Man".) Kolnai's essay 'The Meaning of the "Common Man" will amaze you; Kolnai should be required reading for those who liberate themselves from naive liberalism and naive conservatism.

Alinky's letter is toward the end of this essay: LESSONS FROM THE FRIENDSHIP
OF JACQUES MARITAIN WITH SAUL ALINSKY
