Kills both Fallon and Kimmel.

I think Jay's on record as saying he's tired and doesn't want another show. The man's earned the right to get up on his own time, run down to his garage and work on his cars. I think he lives for it.
ReplyDeleteCBS will hire Elizabeth Cook as Letterman's replacement. Then due to Elizabeth being burned out, CBS will hire a prominent late night NBC host named Jimmy Fallon to replace her.
ReplyDeleteI've known Jay for a while-I was a car and motorcycle guy in LA and was one of the 2 finalists for sound mixer when he took over the show. While he enjoyed doing the show what you didn't see is that on days he wasn't doing the show he was doing dates around the country. He likes doing stand up.

DeleteWhat I think? I think one of your commenter's hit the nail on the head a few weeks ago...Leno replacing Peirce Morgan on CNN. And do it from Los Angeles..I'm not a fan of New York centric talk shows. I like palm tree's..not wearing stylish scarfs in May.

ReplyDeleteLeno? No way. CBS's numbers are way over the hill now as it it. This is about "generational transition." Letterman has pull with CBS, owning Worldwide Pants. He'll be closely listened to. He owns Craig Ferguson's show, too, and he has a syndication deal with Tribune this fall (Celebrity Names.) Letterman might suggest Ferguson to take over the Late Show. Ferguson's syndication is only for limited syndication in Tribune markets only, 40% of the nation. That won't fly in LA, SF, Chicago, NY and Denver. So, Ferguson would have to stay with CBS. I'd say it's too early to tell, but not Leno.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea. I believe that Jay was pushed out and still wants to work. Move the show back to LA and all is well.

ReplyDeleteI sure hope Letterman is not a 415 media reader, the scenario outlined by Rich might induce a heart ailment. I'd go with a Conan Obrian pick actually. I think he could handle Fallon. Besides, might there not be a non-compete agreement in place regarding Leno in late night!?

ReplyDeleteHe just laughed and said he love LA and has no intention ever of going back into hosting a late night show.
Now if CBS would consider moving the show to Southern California...well things could change.
