Friday PM Finale and Everyone's Talking About You Know What

 Friday PM...

Meet and greet at Tadich with future ex-wife. She too is fascinated by the Leland Yee extravaganza and wonders how all this could happen.

When there's cash, drugs, firearms, gangs and politicians, no matter how big anything is possible. Then again, this caper is a mind-blower.

Herb Caen should be, (and would be), holding court in the back booth with Willie Brown, Walter Shorenstein, Wilkes Bashford and all the Alioto clan; a good, old-fashioned SF schmooze.

*Wonder what the cops are talking about this Friday night? They do talk too you know.

*Savage had a good line Friday: Might not be a good time to bring your smartphone camera around Chinatown tonight.

*Tadich tactic: after dinner snagging a whole loaf of that beautiful bread from the guys in the white jackets. The operative word, of course, is a ten-spot.

*I can not only sense rain. I smell rain. Good, all the pollen is neutered this weekend by the impending downpour. Bad news? Storm desk stories by the weekend TV crews desperate for Mill Valley flooding.

*Every place is packed to the rafters: Tadich, John's, I'm sure Le Colonial and Waterbar too. Boulevard? Good luck. Kokkari? Ditto. Try the Blue Ship and a burger and Guinness although I'm not a beer guy. You wanted to know, I answered.

  2. I ran the granite plaza replacement project at 101 California in 2001-2003 and you could find me at Tadich or Harringtons around the corner for lunch most any day. 101 Plaza had a nice little bistro too but I can't remember the name. They opened at 5:00 AM when I started my crews and I got star treatment there. Loved those times.

  3. The only thing this story lacks so far is a victim of sexual abuse, or someone being accused of being such an abuser. Give it time. Some restaurant owner will step forward and describe seeing a group of the San Francisco Dirty Dozen, sitting at a table, having Roast Duck and hot plum soup. The owner's wife was waiting their table, when all of a sudden, one of these 'suits' puts his arm out, pulls his wife toward him, and plops her down on his lap for a quick kiss on the cheek. Hubby, the owner gets angry at this low class behavior, gently takes his wifes arm and leads her to the kitchen. Hubby, the owner then returns to the rude 'suit' and throws a pint of dark Heineken into the guy's face, yells at him to GTFO, NOW! The guy stands up, shocked and embarassed, beer all over his pink silk tie and his new Abercrombie and Fitch dress shirt with cuff links, no less, then walks out, followed by a former S.F. Mayor and his own Belle Du Jour.

  5. Rich, I'm a little disappointed in you. I never took you for a Willie Brown nut swinger! Oh well, maybe it's just one of those days.
Suisse Italia was on the first floor of 101 Cal. GREAT sandwiches and daily specials. I miss so many places that were Financial District go to spots.

  6. Radnich CHATTER: The other morning on KNBR Larry Kreuger said something catchy "Lacob thinks he makes this team, and Jackson thinks HE makes this team (win)" So,last night on KRON, Radnich is talking about the Warrrior's to somebody live on air and says " You know I think that Lacobs thinks he makes this team win and Jackson thinks he makes this team win"..! lol,"I THINK."..never gave any credit to Kreuger!.
I get the feeling that Radnich does that with a smug " If not for me Larry wouldn't have a show- or paycheck".. And its probably not the first time Radnich stole a clever thought or saying..
    "I THINK"..lol,said straight too.

  7. Another Raddy: He insists he's a good friend to Cathy Heenan, says he "wishes he could be her,and let life roll off his back". Meanwhile, his wife is sitting there. Raddy never says "Our friend"..and Alicia never chimes in when he does his "I only grope a friend" defense or other Cathy praises. Never.

    1. Very insightful. How come Stan gets it but no one else does. Wow Stan, you are really on to Radnich.

    2. Wish Stan would be more diligent about monitoring Radnich. He's not sufficiently attentive and lets Raddy get away with way too much.

    3. Agree, Stan is easing up on Raddy. Stan, just because your star is rising, this is no to time to go soft on Radnich. Otherwise you're a sellout, just like the rest of them.

  8. How about a 415 update of a comment I made? Remember back when we had the first good rain of the year? What did I say..tell me!.."I said the first step etc" and chastised Christian of ch7 who carped the "Wont make a dent, etc," And as I pointed out..the locals always take the "reservoir is half empty" no matter what so early in the season. After that I could sense that Spencer Christian wanted to prove he had it with more "And this latest helped, but isn't making a dent"...well,with it raining now still two months later..who was right? WHO? TELL ME!.lol. Me,of course. A dent has been made and MANY first steps- as I predicted have been taken.
When you got it, flaunt it. I flaunt.
