Hot Women Anchors on TV --Don't Blame Me It's The Law And We All Kind Of Have To Live With It

Why is this a crime? Remember, TV is a visual medium. VISUAL ...

That's why they have an industry joke: You have a great face for radio.

Most anchor women on TV are hot. Deal with it. Be it local, national, cable, network, it's how you look and that's it and it doesn't include merely women, men too.

I happen to think that Candy Crowley is attractive but that's the exception. You'll never see Candy on Fox News which is rather unfortunate or perhaps not but that's a different story.

If you're an anchorwoman and you look like Janet Napolitano you're probably screwed. You can bitch and moan a lot about what I said but it's the truth. Hot women are watched by guys who mostly don't give a shit about the news but would rather look at Meghan Kelly than the woman pictured below.

A guy who hates everything about CNN but will take a bullet for Erin Burnett. That's the way the broadcast world works, hate to wreck your day.

Don't bitch to me, screw you're sanctimonious bullshit about what's right and wrong it's called reality and reality sucks, so to speak, every now and then.

  1. BUT..FOX new promotes that the ultimate woman, the archetypal woman, is white, blond and if possible blue eyes. FOX takes the look down a Aryan road. That's the difference between FOX and other networks.

    1. Yup, wanna find a large collection of racists unwilling to admit to it? You'll have your best luck looking towards the far right...or far left.

    2. Fox has Harris Faulkner--hot black woman--Uma Pemmaraju--hot Indian woman--Julie Banderas--hot latina--and many other women who are not blonde.

    3. I bet that no good god damn Aryan bastard Tiger Woods prefers FOX.

    4. Well, that's 3 to a network. I don't think its going out on a limb to say FOX has been Blond driven since its start. Out of the general average female population in our good old USA..blond,cute and young is not close to FOX proportions.
It does though, seem to be much higher in good jobs and wealthy neighborhoods.
And,since few are genetic...blond hair color is pure gold. Can change a woman's life.
And who would be naturally blond?...sure ain't going to be Uma Pemmaraju. One in a million that you cite..is pretty sad when you think of it.
All because of some hair dye color. Pathetic.

  2. The most accurate weather forecaster I have ever seen (on Bay Area TV) was a lady by the name of Jillene Wahl.

Jillene was bright, personable, community and education oriented, and she presented herself well. But she worked at a small station (KFTY, Santa Rosa), and she didn't have "the look." After about a year in Santa Rosa, Jillene ended up back in the Midwest.

    1. Is she related to Jan?

    2. If not having "the look" relegates you to the midwest, Jan belongs in El Paso.

    3. I don't know for sure, but I doubt that she is related to Jan.

Jillene went to Kansas U, and I think she is a native of that state. I just did a search, and she now works in the "Law Practice Industry."

  3. yes, you are right. but it's like pointing out that the sky is blue, and considering yourself a genius for spotting that. as with most things, your approach -- a picture of the female in question and a quick blurb about how, yeah, you'd do her -- is without class or tact.

best comment from original post, and i think this person's got your number:

"Rich posts pictures of normal looking females on the blog that elicit oohs and ahhs from juvenile cretins who must be confined to some kind of all-male institution.

"Are you guys capable of relating to woman in a normal way instead of drooling over them as if they are an alien species?"

    1. Yeah, its on none of those woman's minds to be attractive to men. They want to look sexy for Mom.

  4. Truth hurts. And there will be people out there who don't agree with this, but too bad. It's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So take your thoughts and shove them up your ass. If you don't like it and are in a position to make a change, do something about it. If not, shut the hell up.

  5. The problem here Rich is your hypocrisy!

Yes, attractive people receive preference in landing jobs in front of the camera; no argument about that. Almost all the faces we see are young and attractive.

But the problem Rich, when you drool over Megyn Kelly, or Erin Burnett, or Allie Rasmus, whoever, is that you can no longer be taken seriously as the guy who is disgusted with main stream media. You are the guy who constantly complains that today's news organizations care less about content than they do about packaging and superficial appearances. How can you complain when old talent is shoved out the door in favor of the next pretty face when you yourself are so delighted by those new pretty faces?

Make up your mind. Are you indignant with the superficiality of main stream media news or enchanted by it?

    1. Look, asshole, no, the "Problem" is YOU. GO AWAY. You're infatuated with me and as much as I love the fact you keep coming back no matter how much "drooling" you claim I do.

      Take a hike, Mr. Indignant.

  6. It's hysterical that Rich Lieberman says: Don't bitch to me, screw you're sanctimonious bullshit about what's right and wrong it's called reality and reality sucks, so to speak, every now and then.

Rich, if you are so committed to accepting reality, as it is, why are you constantly complaining about everything that is wrong in the world today and harkening back to those good old days.

Rich, you seem totally resistant to accepting reality as it is and keep pretending that things will go back to the way they used to be.

    2. Agree with @12:14. Lieberman should be the last person in the world to claim that right or wrong, we must accept the reality of the way things are. He is constantly ranting against the way things have changed in the new media and refuses to accept that things change over time.

  8. I watch the pbs news hour fairly often and not because I have poor eye sight or low standards when it comes to the opposite sex. I'm an independent voter who happens to like the thought and analysis that they put into their segments. I'm looking for a program that I can spend some time watching and, god forbid, take away something.

Smart and attractive seem to be mutually exclusive traits when it comes to worthwhile news based on everything I've ever seen. I don't watch the news for hot babes and don't read the articles in Playboy. It's easier that way.

  12. Thank you Rich! There is nothing wrong with sharing some inside information, spreading a little gossip, making insightful comments and posting pix of ATTRACTIVE women on a blog. If people don't like it don't read it or better yet start your own - if you can! It takes a lot of work to publish one of these even if the content is somewhat sparse at times. Before you start your bitch session try doing what Rich does, you won't last a month. I come here because it's informative, sometimes frustrating, funny and I like looking at good looking broads. So sue me! I'll keep enjoying Richs' commentary and I'll keep watching Loren, Liviakis, Gonzales and FOX News!

  13. In almost every business/industry; good looking thin persons are hired to sell product. Overweight not so good looking persons are not hired. Television follows this model.

    1. Edward R. Murrow with his deep eye bags,Charles Kuralt fighting a losing battle with morbid obesity, Walter Cronkite and his auvuncular jowls, and Andrea Mitchell ,cursed with bad skin. All four of those people were incredibly successful in television news and did a significant amout of terrific journalism along the way. All of them made lots of dollars for their network employers. Probably no one in the national audience would have taken any of them seriously, if they'd been too pretty.
You see, that's the difference. To be a good reporter requires having an instinct for the jugular and the tenacity to find it. Being handsome or pretty occasionally goes along with that, but not typically. Many have assumed tht if you just populate a tv newsroom with the pretties, you'll have guaranteed success. It doesn't work that way, as they painfully discover.

      Delete
    2. Christine: Your comments are welcome. However; you know as well as me that the persons you have named are the exception and their time has expired. They would not be hired today.

      Delete
    3. But Andrea Mitchell is the only person on your list who has endured several face lifts. None of the men cited have had to submit to such an indignity.

      Delete
    4. You know about Andrea Mitchell's plastic surgery adventures from whom, exactly? If you have a good plastic surgeon who doesn't overdo it, I think you'd consider it a boon, not an indignity, yes? Many men in television, including in San Fracisco have had "work" done. The ratio is for every two facelifts a tv woman has, the male counterpart has one. 12:32 says the greats I mentioned would not be hired now. That's probably true in some quarters, but I think that fewer and fewer people watch t.v. news at all anymore, mostly because there is no "there" there. I think the audience often feels that someone who reminds them of auntie or uncle, is often more believable, comfortable to watch. Also , if you are news director who wants at least some employees to know what the hell they're doing, you may find yourself picking someone other than a pretty boy or glam queen to do the job. I remember working with Dave McElhatton, no pretty boy he, but very real and really successful. People felt comfortable watching him. I think it would still hold true today.I"ll always remember the sage observation of a true tv. pioneer, Betty Furness when we did the Donahue show together. "You're pretty", she said,"But no so pretty that it is distracting". I think that's a good current rule of thumb for hiring t.v. newsfolk, at least the anchors and anchorettes.

    5. I know about Andrea Mitchell's plastic surgery by looking at her face over the years. No, I would not consider it a "boon" to have my face carved up by someone and lose myself in the processes. For every woman with a good facelift, there are 100 who look foolish. And the men who have their faces doctored look downright creepy. But to each his own.
One thing we agree upon is Dave McElhatton. He was the best and I miss him.

  15. Rich. You give off a creepy vibe. You. Just. Do. Your near-constant commentary about “attractive” (or “unattractive”) females bristles our antennae. You’ve unresolved issues with women. Period. It doesn’t take a psychologist to figure that out. Women just… KNOW. We’ve honed instincts. And, if you were secure in your position, you wouldn’t bring up the subject so often. How many classy guys talk like you do? BTW: I attend nearly ALL of the industry events. Why are you never there? Why not bring your significant other? We’d love to meet her.

Even Christine couldn't get an honest answer from you for a thoughtful and true post.

Your rants are so over the top. You should be in the management meeting at KGO 810 this week. You would probably be dismissed for being "avuncular and condescending to women." Maybe you, too, could sue.

You don't deserve being called names. Your ignorance of people, let alone your response to pithiness speaks volumes, you handsome hunk of male flesh.. You got a good funny tickle out of this one for certain.

    2. Let's see, a "guy" who thinks he "hot". Like ... Karel. Guess what, blobface, that meeting on Hawhtorne this week may be about "faces made for radio," but your number is UP.

Cumulus new operations / programming guy at WLS in Chicago -- with a rating that places the Big 89 in 26th place overall with a 1.4 share and 28th place in the 25-54 year old demo -- just bounced a single one hour sports show at 5 pm off the air. Why? No ratings (1.2 share) and no money

In afternoon drive. Goodbye Roeper and Conn sports show that lasted a year and took 10 weeks to finally put a fork into after Cumulus finally had enough. So, the new guy put an end to it.

Let's see, Mr. Pretty Ryan Scott, are you listening? You, too, Karel. Mo' Hangin' w/ Langan? That's three faces that could be spared on radio and would not be missed, no matter how pretty they are.

      Delete
    3. Rich: Continue to do reports about the good looking women. All of them know that part of the hiring process was their looks. The men also know that being handsome was a part of the process of be hired. When the women you feature say enough is enough then maybe you should stop. That will not happen because getting attention helps the rating numbers.

  20. Has the real question ever been answered. Who was/might have been the HOTTEST large female on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Rich, it seems every week you have to post about some new 'hottie' in the local media in your blog Why? Who cares? Are that many guys who read your blog that interested? Look, I'm a guy, but I'd rather read about the great inside 'dish' that you come up with from your many sources in the local media, and the exclusives that we 'Liiberman 415 addicts' have grown accustomed, (and I might add spoiled) to expect. But with this constant propensity to commenting about women's looks, I think you may be turning off some women readers. Whenever I see one of these topics posted on your blog, I instantly stop reading, and I like an attractive woman as much as the next guy. But Frankly, I get tired of reading your assessments and those from the cretins who feel that they have to chip in their two cents on the topic. Frankly, I wonder if you've ever had a serious or 'normal' relationship with any woman. When you write these posts about the women, you seem like one of those creepy, immature guys guys who would rather talk about women than talk WITH women. Have you thought seriously about getting some therapy? Just a friendly suggestion.
