  1. Tim Ryan is the worst, cliche-driven analyst out there. He is garbage.

At least, he won't be able to shit all over the broadcast with his needless use of the tele-strator. The man needs every crutch out there.

Alas, considering Robinson isn't that good, they should make a hell of a team.

    1. I don't know about shitting but Ryan had a well publicized habit of urinating on himself prior to games to gain an advantage over his opponent(s).

Calling the guy garbage may be a little extreme, saying he's no "whiz" may be more appropriate.

Replacing Davis with a white guy, regardless of circumstances, will probably make the Stan types "pissed".

Were the changes officially announced or is this a rumor based on a "leak".

  3. I agree with the first reply. Ryan is okay on analysis but he's pretty cliche-ridden.

  4. Eric Davis made the mistake of being too caught up at key moments. His cheers which are now soundbytes were embarrassing. This isn't Green Bay or Chicago.

  5. Why get rid of Eric Davis. He's funny, passionate, smart, knows the game, and is a great guy and a former 49er, unlike Tim Ryan. Who made this stupid decision, Jed York or Lee Hammer? Had to be one of them.

  6. Firing Eric Davis was a first class mistake. He will do just fine away from 49erville.

  7. Tim Ryan is too good looking for Radio, but his photo on the side of a Muni Bus will definately increase 49er interest in the gay community. Just sayin'.

  8. Wish they kept Davis and upgraded the play by play guy. I really don't know what is the infatuation with Ted Robinson. Voice is thin and not able to convey the atmosphere of the game. Would like to see Tim Roye do the games. Bring back Joe Starkey, Heck, even Booobie Fitz would be an improvement over Robinson.

  9. Tim Roye is mediocre at best. The Warriors deserve a top-grade announcer, and Roye's not even close to the late, great Bill King, but then who is? As far as bringing Starkey back, are you fricking kidding me? Starkey is an embarrassment and the fact that Niner listeners had to put up with him for 20 years doing the play by play is unbelievable. Starkey rarely explains who caught the ball, where the ball is, who made the tackle, how much time there is left in the game. Listen to his call of 'The Play' sometime and you can't even tell what's going on! And finally, are you really serious about Bobby Fitz? The only reason he got that job as Warrior TV announcer back in the mid 1990s is that his sleazy agent Mantin Mandel, convinced the equally sleazy ownership of Chris Cohan and the Warriors to back door Greg Papa to save a few lousy bucks. Papa had helped Fitz get in the door and then Fitz stole his job. But Fitzie has done this before, and this is part of his 'dark side' that everyone in the media who has worked with him knows about. That's why he's constantly skewered in the local media. I still turn down the TV sound when I'm watching a Warriors' game, because I can't stand to listen to his annoying voice. It's amazing Fitz has gotten as far as he has, but his special talent is sucking up to important people in the front office (like the former GM Tony Salvadore of KNBR), and currying favor with them. . It's a shame Jim Barnett has had to work so many years with the smarmy homerish Fatty Fitz.

    1. @ 911 = thank you. Giggles Fitzgerald has his Warrior gig due to backstabbing Greg Papa.
