
Nancarrow was diagnosed with stage three terminal brain cancer in February, and later retired from his anchor position at Fox 5, San Diego. He called himself a "Brain Cancer Warrior," and authored a blog.
His career spanned more than 30 years and he won numerous industry awards in addition to being involved with a multitude of charities.
He joined PIX in the late 1980's. In addition to news, Nancarrow anchored weather.
He is survived by his wife, Susie, and children, Graham, Hannah and Britta.

As a person who was born and raised in the Bay Area, I remember Loren Nancarrow very well from his days anchoring the news at KPIX. A few years ago I happily relocated to San Diego and one of the first recognizable faces I saw on local television was Mr. Nancarrow anchoring the news on KGTV, the ABC affiliate. He later went on to Fox 5 but had to retire due to his illness. What a professional journalist he was. He was also a passionate environmentalist and gardener, authoring four books on the subject, especially with respect to organic gardening. He has been called an "icon" here in the local community and I can see that in so many ways.
