You can't attack broadcast executives for favoring attractive, sexy on-air talent then turn around and drool over the most attractive and fantasize who you'd like to bleep.
Having it both ways is our way of life. We complain about lying politicians but continue to choose our favorite liar. We elevate affirmative action over merit but continue to expect competence. We worry about rainfall and drinking water but support illegal and uncontrolled immigration. We know it takes discipline to learn but drive discipline out of our schools. We "learn" from our unnecessary and disastrous war in Vietnam and then cheer the invasion of Iraq.
Television is a visual business; great looking news anchors/reporters/performers are good for business. That will not change until someone in government, who knows what's good for us, legislates beauty out of the news business and removes our chance to have it both ways -- on only this one, little enjoyable thing.
I don't know about TV anchor but why in the hell did Sussman hire that Katie green ! she has to have the worst radio voice ever, plus she yells to boot!! where did they drag her out from under?
Tara Moriarty on KTVU . . . love that red hair . . . Claudine Wong too, if she'd smile once in a while. Katie Marzulo (new weekend anchor on KGO). And one sadly no longer on the air: Karina Rusk, also of KGO.
It's sad to see that so many of Rich's readers are sexist cretins who sound like pimply-faced high school kids that couldn't get to first base with the school wall flower. I guess that's why they're on the internet, they don't know how to have a normal relationship so they get off on pictures of women. And you pander this crap to them Richie. Shame on you!
Couldn't agree more. Nothing wrong with admiring physical beauty BUT the mentality here is distinctly adolescent boys drooling over unattainable woman.
