Gonzales Begins Weekday Morning Weather on KPIX Wednesday; Hackney on Weekend

Roberta Gonzales will begin her morning weather anchoring duties this Wednesday on KPIX, in a move first reported by 415 Media

Station officials are meeting this week to go over various details.

Brian Hackney will replace Gonzales on the weekends and will also co-anchor news with Ann Notarangelo.

  1. That Brian Hackney has a bigger role because of this otherwise idiotic move is the only good take-away from this. Gonzales and Karnow won't last together.

    1. Karnow won't have any problem working with Roberta. She will do her location pieces. Karnow will just toss to her and be done with it..

  2. I've noticed that Hackney has been co-anchoring with Notarangelo the last two weekends. They also seem to have changed the tone on that particular newscast, which is more serious and has less happy talk.

  3. I'm a big fan of you, personally Rich and read on a daily basis, but this falls under the
heading of "nobody cares." Roberta is a shameful self promoter and a talentless shill
to boot. I guess this new schedule will give her more time to hit the pubs on the weekend.

    1. You may not like her and I could care less myself, but I disagree with you that this is "who cares" with most people. She's got a following. Not saying I'm one of the lemmings, but she's got a following.

    2. I somewhat agree. Nothing against Roberta at all but I've never had the hard-on for her others seem to have. Am I the only one that remembers that B-52's hairstyle she had circa 1987 and many years after?

    3. I care! I need to know when to avoid her. Does this mean she'll be on the noon news with Lawrence? If so, poor Lawrence.

  4. How about a acknowledgement to KTVU weekend weather's Rosemary Orazco?. She glides from spot to spot, and is of a very healthy physique. Salute!

    1. Yeah, I'll take her over Bill Martin with his used-car salesman smile any day.

  5. Ann Notorangelo doesn't need a co-anchor - and neither does Diane Dwyer - the only way they could probably get Hackney to come in on a weekend was if he had more "face time" than just weather - he is very full of himself and always has been. Terry McSweeney was good as a reporter - not so much as an anchor and it takes away from Diane.

    1. Totally agree with 12:09. Notarangelo and Dwyer can do it themselves. They are head and shoulders above the rest of the weekenders. Heather Holmes is nice to look at but she isn't in their league. The girl on 7 looks like she just graduated from college.

    2. Notarangelo? She's too much a robot for me. I've worked with Dwyer and she can be handful. Plus she treats the underlings like crap. The KGO chick should change her name: Ama Ditz or something like that? Ouch.

There aren't many good anchors anymore, however, weekday or weekend.

    3. Roberta is first class. Everyone on the tube is self-promoting. If you aren't, you are out. Even Rich is self-promoting (see this blog). Nortangelo is a good anchor and a pretty good reporter. That and having the look has probably helped her a lot. Hackney is a no-talent hack with a bad hairpiece. Good for fluffy fo-foo shows like The Evening Show but not a real newscaster. I personally like Pam Cook. A centered anchor who has good looks and intelligence. She doesn't appear to be interested in fluff.

    4. I've always thought that Notarangelo comes across as being quite personable.

    5. Agree and agree. Until very recently Ann had a solo gig and I thought she did just fine. Same with Diane. Terry is a poor, and unnecessary addition.

    6. Agree with Anonymous 12:38 and 1:30 - Ama Daetz looks like she is "playing" news anchor - she can't even read the teleprompter half the time and is just trying to act like a "grown up" on the set. Compared to their other female anchors - she is not in their league.

    7. > Everyone on the tube is self-promoting.

Heenan? Moore? Hackney? Ashley? Dwyer? Everyone? Really? Danon?

  6. Show of hands...who changes the channel when Gonzales pops up with her stupid sing songy reports?

    I have my hand up!

Oh wait, I forgot Rich censors to fit his desired outcome. Let's just go ahead and agree she stinks.

  7. She is about as popular as they come. Ask her photogs who have to wait in the newsvan while viewers ask for her autograph or a photo out in the field .... It's crazy !!! She has following.

  8. She is a Rockstar ! Heard she got inducted into the Silver Circle. That's quite an honor. She has worked hard and gives a ton of time to charity. That's not self promoting ...that's giving !!
She is Catherine Jones meets Joan Jett with class all the way . Ill be watching the mornings now with her!

  9. Hysterical!! Roberta first class? A Rockstar? 2:02 and 4:15 must be bartenders that she occasionally tips.

  10. I've worked with Roberta (ex-photog who is no longer in the biz)

She is truly a nice human being/a joy to work with! She has a TERRIFIC sense of humor...can talk sports with you...and is never mad/down/angry.

Yeah, as someone mentioned earlier, it can get a bit frustrating when she chit-chats with fans/viewers. But she will stay and chat with every last one of them (unless we're on deadline or have to leave for another location). She is first-class all the way.

  11. She looks like she's dipped in olive oil before each broadcast. I prefer Hackney, but I'll switch to the radio version of CBS now.

  12. Terry McSweeny was GREAT on Channel 7 Saturday mornings, still like him and he is a good reporter. He always had that twinkle in his eye and a sense of humor. I was happy to see him move to the weekend achor position on Channel 3...... but something is different .....
