SF/Oakland Bay Area TV/Radio Traffic Reporters Having Quiet Orgasm As BART/AC Transit Strike Beckons

As BART and its unions meet tirelessly in Oakland to avert a strike deadline early Tuesday, this bit of news might have given the rank and file more leverage: AC Transit workers have just issued their own strike threat.

Bay Area commuters have an impending carmageddon.

Traffic reporters won't dare admit this in public but they're having an orgasm right now.

  2. Same dynamic as national news and the government shut down, just a smaller scale.

An empathetic delivery goes a long way, much further than one smiling with delight over someones misfortune...like an irs auditor.

BTW - The idiot that crafted the collective bargaining agreement and excluded a "no strike clause" should be killed, then shot, then tortured, then shot again.

  3. I predict a humongous backlash against public transport and employee unions.

Bart employees are a bunch of greedy pigs just as AC transit

I wish they just could be fired.
Lets sell Bart and AC transit to privaye enterprise.

    2. "The Quiet Orgasm." That should be a radio format. How 'bout "99.7notrightnow?"

In " socialist" Europe most post offices and transport systems have been privatised.

    4. To 7:42 in Europe they also have universal health care. Let's do that before we begin privatizing public transportation. Cheers!

As many Americans you are very much misinformed. Only in the UK do they have a national health plan. Everywhere else it is our own responsibility. In most countries doc's are not on the government payroll. Certainly no businesses pay for healthcare as they do here.

  4. You sir, are out of touch. Nobody wants this strike to happen. Least of all traffic reporters and the rank and file in newsrooms around the market. Buy a clue.

Perhaps if "rank and file" would stop dangling the possibility of a strike--even when there is nothing to report--then your comment would have a bit more credibility. Just last night, KTVU streamed a giant BREAKING NEWS alert across the TV screen only to have the two breathless anchors reporting that the breaking news is actually that they're WAITING on breaking news. And of course, nothing happened.

KRON4 is equally worse, constantly poking and probing at riders to incite reaction. In addition, their morning anchors need to stop editorializing script. It's not up to them to decide whether BART management offered a "pretty good deal" or inflect when reporting that AC transit workers turned down an offer.

  6. Lieberman is criticizing traffic reporters for reporting traffic. Why? Rich, are you also bothered when weather reporters report on a hurricane?
