Whispers: 'Special Ed' Chapuis On His Way To Sacramento; Taking KTXL40 ND Job at Sacto Fox Outlet

  'Special Ed' to Sacto

One of my spies tells me Ed Chapuis, (Special Ed to his fans and foes), the former ND at KTVU, who was fired in January is on his way to KTXL-40, the Fox station in Sactown.

It's not Chapuis' first rodeo in the 916; he had a stint at KCRA before his gig at KTVU.

I'm sure the newsroom can't wait.

  1. That's tragic. The guy could not keep a job at KTVU or KCRA - two powerhouse stations. He's an out and out fraud! Remember folks, KTVU was a strong #1 - morning noon, and night when he arrived. So he landed on 3rd base, and claims he hit a triple! He wouldn't know a news story if it bit him in the you know where. Watch your backs KTXL staffers, this dude is a backstabber. And he's a punk!

  4. It's not like he can do any worse at that station. It's been in the cellar for years. The only way is up, so it would a true test of his capabilities or lack there of...

  5. Isn't Channel 40 the KRON of Sacramento?

I remember when Pete Wilson anchored Channel 40 news in Sacramento. (In fact, I think he was the only person on the newscast.)

  6. This could be fun. Look at the big picture. If KTXL gives Chapuis any kind of budget and the ability to hire his people then the place could turn into a mini-KTVU. He could poach people he liked at KTVU and bring them up the road. Whether he can turn it around, who knows as another person noted it is a test of capabilities. But the storyline is juicy. Heck I'd start by hiring the 3 people who got tossed out over Rich's beloved NameGate. We could refer to the station as Payback 40.

  7. Suggesting he could turn the place into a "mini-KTVU" is a farce. It's suggests he "turned around" KTVU, which he surely DID NOT! As @7:28 PM mentioned above, KTVU was a strong #1 powerhouse before "Special Ed" showed up and destroyed the moral and helped force legions of top reporters and anchors out the door. More than anything, he helped destabilize KTVU. He made ZERO beneficial contributions! ZERO!!!

    1. I think you missed the point. 5:41 is suggesting Chapuis could loot KTVU and take a bunch of employees as a little retribution. Whether they know what they are doing is besides the point. The thought is a bunch of KTVU people could end up working for their old boss.

    2. Sacramento is a smaller market than the Bay Area. Unless someone at KTVU found themselves out of a job, why on earth would a bunch of KTVU employees follow Ed to Sacramento? Especially if he was as hated as so many people claim.

  8. No one from KTVU will follow "Special Ed" to Sacramento! Bet money on it! The "Pied Piper" he is NOT! LOL!!!!

  9. Man, this guy must have been a pretty lousy News Director, judging from the vitriol we have seen on this post! Either that, or there are some very bitter ex-KTVU employees who needed to rant! Quick question: Just what did 'Special Ed' Chapuis do that upset people so much! Demand that they actually work hard and do a good job?

  10. @8:58 He took credit for work he did not do. When you do that to hard working people who are doing a good job (#1 station by far, ok?), then you make no friends or allies. He just steamrolled a LOT of good, hard working people.

    1. @2:45 That's what bosses do. It's their ship, so they take the credit. As you can see by Ed's firing, they also have to take the blame when things go wrong.
