Saturday Looker: KPIX5 Reporter, Christin Ayers

 Christin Ayers

Saturday Quickie

Christin Ayers of KPIX has been lauded by her reporting on the pre-strike BART story.

On Friday night's 11 PM PIX cast, Ayers was noticeably dogged in her pursuit of both sides of the dispute; both BART's negotiator and the union tonsil.

It wasn't play-for-camera simpleton minutiae--it was straight-on fiery questions that resembled old-school reporting from the 33 year-old correspondent. Nice work.

This is Ayers third year at PIX--here's hoping we see a lot more of this UC Berkeley and Oxford-educated pro who knows her stuff and is tenacious, tough, and yes, of course, easy on the eyes.

  1. Great to see an African-American woman reporter in this market. There aren't many of them around anymore.

    1. That would be Black American. Where is your evidence, She was born or even has ever been to Africa?

    2. Why do we even have to mention race? It's irrelevant to the fact that Ms. Ayers is a good reporter.

One wouldn't say "white" reporter...or "Irish White"...in this day and age, it shouldn't mean a frakking thing. Actually, "pinkish American" would be more like it anyhow.

    3. I wholeheartedly agree...if you read my post, there is NO mention of Ms. Ayers race, just that she's a good reporter with heady background and old-school virtues.

    4. That would be my point. We do not have to walk on Egg shells,we are all just Americans

    5. I agree too. This is why America is in increasingly getting more racist. Equivalent to coming out as gay. Who really gives a shit?

    6. In response to the above commenters, I'm a young African-American woman working in TV news. So for me, it's great to see another young African-American or (for drive by opinion) "black" woman working in TV news. I'm usually alone in the newsroom, so this post made me proud, and I decided to leave a comment. No ill will intended by pointing out Christin's race. I'm honestly not trying to start any controversies. Just simply stating my opinion. Thanks everyone.

    7. I can appreciate that a minority happens to like having colleagues with something in common, why can't it be abilities... She's good at what she does and a valuable part of the team.

Us vs. them, "so and so" is a credit to his/her race, etc only sends the wrong message. Rooting for the home team is a normal fact of life but implies that the away games are going to be tougher.

She's good at what she does and I have that in common with her! The fact that she's young, black and attractive and I'm not is meaningless to me.

I'll beat the PC folks to the punch...I don't "get it", "I'm an insensitive jerk", Blah, blah, blah.

    8. Why is it even necessary to discuss this? Why is it necessary to discuss highly-qualified, professional person's race?

    9. Wow. Black people needn't post here. You don't have a valid point of view.

    10. To all of the people questioning why race still matters, anon 9:33 just answered your question.

  2. Damon Bruce is a loud-mouth know it all who has only been in town a few years and thinks he's an authority on bay area sports. When he was hired by KNBR, he was out of work and living in Indiana where he had just been fired from a job at a radio news reporter. The reason he is not on KNBR is that he pissed off PD Lee Hammer from day one, and the Giants also hated him for pointing out that they were playing less than sterling baseball. Damon may be talented, but he is full of himself and thinks his own ca-ca doesn't smell and guys like that usually end up shooting themselves in the foot. All that said, I'd much rather listen to Damon than to the mid day gigglers, (Fitz and Brooks) the morning show frat-boys, (Murph and Mac), Fatnich, the boring Ray Woodson, or dim-wits like Kate Scott.

    1. I am not sure you would want that to be a quickie. By the way Rich. Nice rant on twitter last night about Father wolff. Was it Beer or wine induced?

    2. Neither, lots of soda and cranberry juice but thanks anyway.

  4. Good thing she does not work for KTVU. I am sure Tori "Names " Campbell would start some bullshit. Why would they want to Handcuff her on the BART Strike? It will be coming to a Commute near you Monday.

  5. And these days we applaud a reporter for being even-handed?

    What am I missing here?

  6. Anonymous 1:55: These knuckledraggers are incapable of understanding the concept of being the only one in the room. Don't lose sleep over it.

  7. So, Rich - do you ever have Q&A sessions? I know you establish the agenda, but some of us have 415 MEDIA-related questions that might interest your fans, for instance: What happened to Dr Kim on KPIX?

    1. Good question. Rich, I don't think you have said anything on this. No news at all?

  10. Christin Ayers--- Yes Sir...she is gorgeous, smart, a good reporter, and judging by her Twitter feed a fun person...

  11. I agree with Rich and Anthony. Christin is honest, beautiful, intelligent, extremely hard working and the best daughter on earth! Yep! I'm her mom!

  12. I'm her Mom. She is intelligent, well educated, fun and easy on the eyes. She is African American and proud of it. As for the (that's a man baby statement?) If she were I would just be the proud mother of a beautiful son.
