KRON's Sexy Morning Diva Darya Folsom Calls in Sick but Manages to Make Giants Game; KGO-TV's Problem on 4 PM NewsCast; NBC BA/KNTV Lavish 'Investigate' unit; Saturday Media

Photo: this is from timmy hahaa

KRON's morning Goddess, Darya Folsom, according to one of my moles at 1001 Van Ness, called in sick the other day, (sounding as if she was on her death bed), only later to be posting pictures on her Facebook page of the High Priestess at the Giants game.

What's more, the insider says, Folsom still manages to walk all over those KRON staffers on the bottom of the food chain.

Says the insiderr: "She continues to treat everyone as if they are beneath her and she thrives on breaking the rules." A Bad girl at KRON? Gotta be BREAKING NEWS!

**Seems like KGO-TV has a problem because essentially no one is watching the 4 PM Newscast, which is not entirely the station's fault. The 4 news is essentially a news-light, consumer/health teaser for the 5 and 6 cast and hard to beat the competition at that murky hour. The future of the show is being evaluated.

**Meanwhile, a veritable harmony at NBC Bay Area although some staffers are less-than-thrilled with the much-hyped, but empty offerings of the "Investigative Unit." You should see the budget the sly five get but hey, deep pockets has mucho rewards.

  2. When you're sleeping with the news director, you can pretty much get away with anything.

    2. What else do you need to know? Interestingly, the ND's name means "dog" in Spanish, which pretty much describes Darya. When I worked there we'd joke she looked like the Taco Bell chihuahua. ("Yo quiero Taco Bell.")

    3. don't stop now you have my curiosity as well.
and what is the news directors name. I don't watch a lot of KRON.

    4. If you read Rich's blog he has hinted at it as well.

I believe she was married to one guy and then hooked up with the news director?

    5. That settles it guys, when it comes to local politics, Bernie Madoff wannabes or erstwhile Sports 'Stars'( who are legends in their own minds), we men gossip worse than any blue haired, cardigan wearing, cat owning Yenta I have ever met.

    6. She's the only anchor I'll actually turn the news on to see what she's wearing.

    7. To clarify what I meant was I believe she was married at one time...and then later on hooked up with the news director he mentioned. I wasn't implying she cheated.

To me she is one of the most beautiful anchors out there.

    8. Finally someone explains how darya is even considered a newscaster. She isnt the attractive diva she thinks she is. Her insentient giggling is totally annoying. He banter with Gary Radnich is ridiculous. She is so unprofessional. I have been dumbfounded as to why she was there. I figured she had to be sleeping with someone. Many of the people she works with are so on top of thier game, and then her she comes with her idiotic remarks and phony giggles. Sit down and read the news like every other professional newscaster on television.

  3. That investigative unit photo is pretty funny, they're all trying to look so serious and hard-hitting. "The Unit" would actually be good if they investigated things that people care about. I haven't seen anything that they've uncovered that matters to people in the Bay Area. So far, it just seems like a waste of resources. It's a pretty package with nothing in the box.

    1. Their "Investigative unit" reports are mostly spoon-fed labor union half-truths and outright lies about local governments. "Investigations" are mostly sleazy shots of the guy in suspenders ambushing somebody with a camera (as if that prooves anything) and all the cheap posturing that goes with such stunts. They are a journalistic joke.

  5. About Darya. She's not stupid. Ever occur at all to anybody that she knew what she was doing when she called in sick, then posted a pic of herself at the game? Doubt she's shaking over this. If she is, it's because she's laughing her head off that someone's been duped to write about her shenanigans! KRON doesn't get the kind of attention it used to when it was with the network. It needs attention. Yes, she can treat her newsroom peeps shabbily. What goes around, comes around. It's just taking a lot longer in the game of politics.

Yes, it did. I thought that was obvious from both the post and the replies.

  6. Despite the annoying sports guy, I watch the 4pm news on KGO then switch to KTVU at 5pm.

By the way, KGO has a promo thanking us for trusting them. I guess being a media asshat is contagious. They are crowing over Namegate at KGO but couldn't wait to snatch up KTVU's now abandoned, and perfectly ridiculous, closing tag line. Hey, you media drones! We don't trust any of you and you really look like low rent amateurs when you say we do.

  7. The Investigative Unit should look into KTVU. I hear there's a big cover-up.

Darya a sexy morning Diva?!? Lindsay Lohan is hotter--even with her mahogany-colored teeth.

  8. I'm sorry but Vicky Nguyen is not a "hard-hitting" reporter. I can remember all those puff human interest pieces she used to cover and seeing her as some sort of Barbara Walters wannabe is comical. The others are too lame to even discuss.

  9. KNTV's investigative unit is a joke.

Lots of hype for little or non-existant problems. The unit's reporters feign self-importance. There's not only nothing in the box, there is no box.

And, there's probably no impact on the ratings.

An extreme waste of money (well over 7 figures).

  10. Have you seen the back on Darya? I would tag it just once.

  11. KRON is a waste of bandwidth. Darya Folsom looks like she just rolled out of bed. Whose bed is anyone's guess.

  12. Never been able to figure out why the kids of 1960s hippies are such narcissistic losers. They have inherited their parents' genes, but not their wisdom (or certainly not their sense of compassion).

    1. Living in the North Bay, I know quite a few former "1960's hippies." Most of them have pretty much turned into the people they used to rebel against. In regard to having narcissistic loser kids, what kind of parenting did you expect from the "ME generation?!"

  13. "We Investigate"

How about Comcast's high cable bills?
-Comcast & NBC are the same.

What happened to air quality in Richmond after refinery?
    -Current/Potential Sponsor

Result: Puffy, investigative pieces on smaller, independent businesses and on small time stuff in city government.

  14. Re; The Investigative Unit group photo from Rich; Who, pray tell, is Princess Purple? She wears her tailored sarong-dress quite well.
    Her look is 'all business!".
Re; Darya, This lady goes to my gym sometimes. I'm such a news junkie, I may be the only person there who recognizes her. I am always careful to look away, and give the woman some privacy. She does not need to have some overweight, sweaty jerk run up to her gushing about "SEEING YOU ON THE TEE VEE WHEN I DRINK MAH COFFEE!!!!" I recall reading that Diana Ross also does not like being 'looked at' when not performing. It's understandable, they are pros, but still just people doing their jobs.

    2. Actually, 5:38 PM, he/she sounds like someone who has watched KNTV's "investigations." Anyone WITH brain cells will recognize those reports for what they are: over-hyped fabrications designed for pure sensationalism with little or no journalistic value. They provide bottom feeder news at it's absolute worst. Why would you defend such crap?

  16. A little off topic here but I have to vent. I'm no fan of Karel, the guy is annoying as hell but when David Weintraub filled in for him last night I realized Karel is not such a bad host when compared to the horrible Weintraub. I gave the guy 10 minutes and it was adios. As bad as Karel is, give him credit. I keep it on the dial to listen. Not with this Weintraub character.
Same this morning on the Rabbi Lapin show, the silver tongued filthy rabbi was off and who is filling in? Good Ol Spencer "Jose" Hughes. Nightmare! Where do they get these people?

    1. I heard this Mr. Weintraub also. He spent his first hour beating two main drums; "ObamaCare will be a huge, spectacular success" and "I've driven around stoned and drunk many times, but I object to California making it legal".

I didn't like hearing him bragging about driving stoned, irresponsible and bad form in his efforts to appear 'cool'. I definitely was not going to listen to him singing the praises of ObamaCare, this slow motion, highly destructive train wreck now underway.

  17. Hey anon at 10:51pm..posts like this remind me that the Bay Area in some ways is still a provincial podunk....I worked in T.V. for 27 years...the first ten in Los Angeles....the crew would lunch at Barneys Beanery or Carlos and Charlies on Sunset.....some patrons would get excited if they saw the weatherman from KABC or KHJ (NOW kcal) walk in...until a real star would walk in....Richard Gere or Jeff Bridges or someone else.....and the pecking order would be restored as far as people who are wowed by those kind of things......wow...A Darya Folsom sighting at your gym is big news.....that says it all.

  18. For investigative work in Bay Area, Dan Noyes is the gold standard. He and his team do their homework.

  19. The "Investigative Unit" is a joke, from Tony Kovaleski's pathetic attempt to look all hip and edgy in his suspenders to the worthless stories they uncover. And the funniest bit is how hard they try to make what they do seem relevant at all. "We Investigate"--hahahahaha! Give me a real investigative reporter, like Dan Noyes at KGO, over these clowns any day.

    1. Dan Noyes must be laughing his ass off. His "mentor" NBC Ombudsman Kevin Keeshan was the shit for brains behind "We Investigate." Its FUBAR. After he was booted from KGO, Keeshan convinced NBC to spend big bucks for splashy promotion with zero results. Its like the old Wendy's commercial Where's the Beef???

  22. Love Darya (and her banter w/Gary Radnich...I know, I know...). The real question is: who is the pervy producer who makes her wardrobe choices during the week? Monday: prim and proper; by Wednesday the "girls" are peeking over; Friday: does she have a shift @ Hooters after the broadcast? I cannot be the only one to notice this...
