Don't Just Treat Me Like a Piece of Meat

It's good that you come here. You got company now. Lots.

I will continue to write about the KTVU Name Gaffe affair because it has hit a nerve all over the media compass and I intend to follow it until there's a resolution. Those of you that want more variety will get it when there's a time and place. Believe me.

I've been under the gun lately and I need a little break. This is tough work. I'm tired of all the women media types here in this town that all of a sudden want a piece of me and have treated me like a piece of meat. Stop right there. I'm not USDA material. I too yearn for romance and passion, so if you want to get to know me, I'm in. Anything extra, I can't handle it yet.

Back to the beat.

In the meantime...if you'll excuse me.

  1. The Media has a hard time dealing with the reality of Rich and this Blog. They can not deal with blogs running counter,to what they have had a lock on since the inception of the News Paper. The only Limit us free thinkers have in this new Media is the size of our audience.Long before my time there was a guy called Uncle Walter if he spit it out on the Evening News. you could take it to the Bank. No longer do we have to wait for some news skirt to read it. You do not have to stay up to get the final score on the afternoon ball game. The media needs to Adjust or get left even further behind. One just needs to look at KGO Radio to understand. As for KTVU and the "Names" One more sign of the Death of TV news.

  2. Rich, you need helpers! You're well past the point where you require an able staff, a team of go-between guys, a body double, and front desk girl.

I may know of a lady who would qualify for customer service/ desk work. She would come prepared, with her own shiny nail file and black fishnet stockings, Her own Iphones, Google Glass, an endless supply of pink and white double bubble gum (individually wrapped),a paid membership to 24hr fitness, a recent graduate of the Eileen Ford School of Charm , Etiquette and Subversive Activities. Her writing credits include "What Men REALLY Want (and probably won't find) a seven volume, self published first person Account". She getting a little nip and tuck work done in Brazil, can be in the Bay Area by Labor Day, let me (or one of her lawyers) know if interested.,,,A Friend

  3. "In the meantime, if you'll excuse me". Rich, I know you've become influential, but isn't it a bit early to 'appropriate' Lee Rodgers' signature sign off phrase? On second thought, Lee would probably say,"I have neglected to copywrite every bleeping word in the Webster's Dictionary, so let the man say what he wants to say, there's not a thing I can do about it!".

Sorry Rich, somebody has to let you know, there is a resolution, there's nothing left to follow.

If you keep beating this dead horse, the gang from PETA will have to come get you.

    1. Sorry Sir you are incorrect. We were told the same thing in not so many words,by KTVU in the form of the Frank Summerville Mistake of a statement. A week later 3 heads roll. This matter is much larger than KTVU.

    2. This matter is much larger than KTVU.

REALLY? What is that supposed to mean? Please explain what you're suggesting because I can't imagine what you could be thinking.

It was a screw up. What more do you think is at stake?

    3. The intentional screw up can and will still cost KTVU COX Advertising Money. When a Station losses money Staff will be the first to be cut. The company and the general audience will not know the full effect of the so called screw up, for some time to come. So yes this is bigger than just KTVU ABC 7 Could pickup the lost Ad money and Viewership. At the end of the day the Bay area has more news outlets than it can use anyway. So let KTVU think it is still top dog.

  5. Rich,
My friend who is a morning anchor in Flordia tells me this is still hot! She and her colleagues talk about it daily! It's not going way anytime soon.

  6. Rich, can you confirm or even comment on Art Bell's reported imminent return to the air? Supposedly an announcement tomorrow. A lot of night owls would like to know!

    Thanks.

    1. Artbell.com is up and teasing. I sent Art Bell A letter last week asking for comment. Where did you hear about an announcement tomorrow?

    2. Coast gab.com, but it's a fan site so who knows, all I can say is they are off the charts giddy about Art's "tease"...something like 20 pages of 20-comments per page over the last two days. Art has yanked chains quite a few times over the years, retiring then returning then retiring. Thing is, he is so insular and private that I don't think there are any credible "insiders" who could crack this nut! I thought it might be a nice change of pace challenge for Rich.

I do think there is potential great interest in this, given the dearth of quality late-night talk.

    3. Dunno about Art Bell but the camera caught Walt Harris at the Giants game yesterday at the ripe old age of 100. Bring back "National All Star Wrestling"..

    4. Art Bell will return to Sirius in Sept per the AP

  7. Well, Art Bell is coming back to the air in mid Sept., but not to terrestrial radio. SiriusXM. For a price. I see this trend of talent directly monetizing their shows...sure, for relatively small fees but if you like more than a couple of artists, and you're paying for Netflix, etc., these fees add up each month.

    Details at artbell.com.
