Media Blogger For KOMY-AM/Santa Cruz
Middays
"Actually it only took one or two shows to make it clear to ME that Rich should NOT be bottled up at night on the weekends, but it's difficult to get anything meaningful done during the holiday period." Zwerling, who fancies himself as the "proud independent cuss owner" of two commercial radio broadcast stations, KSCO AM 1080 (10KW NewsTalk) and KOMY AM 1340, sees Lieberman as a budding superstar in the growing-like-wildfire new media industry. "Rich has been blogging about media, sports, and entertainment for more than a decade and has built an amazing audience, including MANY famous people who crave mentions and acknowledgement by this new media sensation. This reminds me of how people would die to be mentioned in Herb Caen's column in the San Francisco Chronicle for nearly half a century." "Because Rich is so well-read and well-rounded, coupled with the fact that he is articulate as a speaker as well as a writer AND has a great set of pipes, a talk radio broadcast/online program hosted by this man is a no-brainer", said Zwerling, who funds his media operations through an innovative, other-than-traditional-advertising revenue method that he developed. Zwerling joked, "Heck if I play my cards right, maybe I (or KSCO or KOMY) will get mentioned in Rich's blog!"

Desperate move, Rich. Funny how YOU didn't write KOMY's puny graveyard power of 1000, but you did mention KSCO's 10kw ... which doesn't affect you.
ReplyDeleteFollowing a charlatan "brokered" radio vet / physcian Joel Wallach with noise throughout the one hour show and you think that your show is the 2nd coming of talk radio.
Rich, nice that you made up the quotes for the radio trade, but no one every blames you for lack of class or candor in your "journey".
"Youngevity" is quack vitamins at best, taste awful and is way overpriced.
Nice going, Richie! Mr. "Desperate". You'd work anywhere.
Thanks Ronnnn.
DeleteLet me guess: you don't like Rich yet you listened. Interesting.
DeleteMy tinfoil hat generates more watts than KOMY. On a positive note KSCO moved the old fool Charlie Friedman from the 4pm-7pm time slot. That cheap imitator of Gene Burns is a very grating character. Rich, your constant censoring of critical comments not withstanding, I wish you good luck but honestly most of us are not interested in hearing Mitch Lasalle on a Monday afternoon. Not even a great interviewer like Charlie Rose could pull this off. Your brand is better suited for weekend evenings when one can relax with a glass of red Burgundy as you talk with a guest. This new time slot is better suited for newstalk...I knew you'd be on and I did not tune in for even a second...
DeleteFound you..got the two stations mixed. Hockey talk!!? Try again at 2pm...
ReplyDeleteKeep talkin' over those guests, Rich!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Rich. Wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteKOMY-AM-1340 and KSCO-AM-1080 rule! Hats off to Rich and the great Michael Zwerling: You, sir, are the empresario of talk radio and a true visionary for giving the great Rich Lieberman the 1-4 weekday slot on the mighty thirteen-forty. I predict in short order that the ratings will take off and Kay-Oh-Em-Why will no longer be a big-time money losing bottomless pit.
ReplyDeleteLieberman is the Herb Caen of media blogging. Talk about being a shameless self-promoter. Rich, even you must concede this promotional piece (did you or MZ write it?) is a wee bit over the top. Wait ... make that way, way over! Oh heck, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe best comedic piece I've read here by far!
ReplyDeleteRich had your show on the radio at work today!
ReplyDeleteFunny this is, all publicity is good even if it's bad. You're drawing them in like flies to a rotting corpse. Your detractors pay you a compliment when they post here. Whether they'll admit it or not, they're listening.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was interested in what Mick LaSalle had to say. Odd interview. Rich was digging for dirt on actors of the who's really a jerk variety (shallow stuff, but I prefer this to actors talking about their 'craft'), and LaSalle was not playing along or providing a very supple interview. He even seemed to be treating the interview as a bit of an intrusion in his life, conducting it while on the way from here to there, down a flight of steps, etc. Rich at the end sounded a bit desperate for some good conversation. Woudn't have LaSalle back anytime soon. Or maybe would try to engage him on a non-gossip level? Dunno. A bit weird.
ReplyDeleteHey Rich- to avoid the problem you had with the Mick LaSalle interview in the future, have some guests on your show that really 'get' radio and are interested in telling stories to your audience. Mich LaSalle may be an excellent movie reviewer, but judging from how your interview with him went, he had ZERO interest in telling you anything enlightening or provocative.
ReplyDeleteI am a major Hip Hop fan, who recently moved to South Florida. I thought I had left all the hot hip hop radio stations back in New York, but boy was I wrong. X102.3 is my new favorite station for the hottest and latest tracks. It’s easy to get hooked on this www.thex1023.com
